About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Sundncr0 contributionsReasonable prices, hotel pickup and BBQThis was the cheapest tour offering with a pick up in Rovaniemi in January. The tour shuttle picked me up from my hotel on the outskirts of the city to a central location where a bus took me on the tour. The staff were pretty friendly and informative. They take you to a small camp just off the highway with Native American style teepees. Campfires are built inside and outside the tents and we are given marshmallows and sausages to cook over the campfires. There is plenty of berry tea drinks to go with it. Northern lights are pretty fleeting and a lot depends on the ambient atmosphere during the tour. I did not have any luck seeing any Northern lights. But, you have to try by going on such tours. It was a good experience with this company. The tour was well organized and you do get cold so wear proper winter wear.Written 23 January 2025
- Curious676575222980 contributionsDREAM COME TRUEIt was my only night in Rovaniemi and therefore ONLY chance to see northern lights. Since I did a solo trip, I decided to book this photography tour and let me tell you - it did not disappoint. Everything was well organized - if you stay in Rovaniemi center, you’ll meet the guides in the main office, where you can also change into warm overalls (not mandatory). Then you get on a bus and drive approximately 1H to reach the location. However, we never made it there and stopped on some other frozen lake on the way because the aurora activity was already very strong. Some guides set the photo set while others already prepare everything for the BBQ. You need to wait in line to get your turn and of course it takes time (our group was huge - full bus) so you’ll be freezing (make sure to dress up REALLY warm) but it’ll be worth it. While taking your picture, it is important to stay completely still for about 10s so that the camera captures everything perfectly. Once you’re done, you can join the other guides by the fire where you’ll be offered a VERY delicious reindeer sausage (veg option available) and a cup of hot blueberry juice (local treat). There’s time for questions and the guides are also happy to help you with setting your phone, should you wish to capture aurora on your own. After everyone is done eating, the bus takes you back to the main office/your original pickup point. We finished your tour about an hour later (after midnight) as we were exceptionally large group. The whole experience was worth every penny, our group was super lucky with the weather conditions and we received stunning pictures sent to our email the next day. If you’re not lucky, they offer joining the same tour within a week for 50% price. SPECIAL THANK YOU to our guides Antoinette, Marijn, Chrissy and Maria for making my dream come true on my first night in Finland!!!Written 20 January 2025
- sandrinew5490 contributionsSomething fun to do !Activity combining icefishing and a 20 minutes snowshoe walk in the woods, lunch by the fire with salmon/bread and marshmallows. Informative training on how to drill the ice and fish. Nice staffs. From my understanding, it's rather rare to catch fish. More like a fun try. Duration a bit long though.Written 20 January 2025
- K688ZPvalentinac0 contributionsWithout passionI don't feel like recommending this agency. The tour itself is ok, nothing special but ok. The thing I didn't like was our guide , Carlos: not at all friendly or sociable, he repeated things as if he were on the radio, without passion or even a hint of sympathy. I have done other tours with other agencies and the guys were completely different, full of enthusiasm and nice. I also emailed the agency to see if they had found anything I had missed on the hike and they didn't even respond.Written 17 January 2025
- 444giulial0 contributionsTour guide amazing, the tour itself not so muchWe actually took the 5 km one but I guess it’s the same. We didn’t like the experience that much, the owner of the place didn’t explain anything to us about the dogs, the tradition behind it etc. the ride itself had a nice view, it was on a frozen lake, so you get the same view for the whole ride and you have to go with strangers if you’re not a group of 4 people. Also the dogs didn’t go fast, maybe because they were tired? Not sure how many rides they do per day. I would give 5+ stars to our guide Cristina, she was the only one to actually explain what kind of dogs they used for the ride, the history etc and she was super nice and prepared, so I would definitely recommend to take tours with her!Written 17 January 2025

- lapumarosaa0 contributionsDon’t use this tour agency, Thera are mor responsable an high quality serviceI am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the complete disorganization of the tour. Two days before the tour, I was informed of an arbitrary schedule change, only for it to be reverted to the original time later. This should have been an early indication of the lack of coordination. Upon arriving at the meeting point, the area was overcrowded and chaotic, making it impossible to navigate or find assistance. There was no staff available to provide clear guidance, let alone respond kindly to inquiries. Eventually, a young man rushed us to a small 5x5 meter cabin packed with 20 people attempting to change in an incredibly cramped space. The so-called “guide” neither offered assistance nor explained what was going to happen. We were left to fend for ourselves, moving between the facilities and the water without any support. My mother was given a wetsuit that was already wet, which soaked her socks and thermal clothing before the activity even began. When she requested a different suit, the overcrowding made the situation unbearable, triggering claustrophobia and preventing her from completing the experience. The lack of organization was evident in every aspect: overbooked groups, poorly trained staff, and a complete absence of customer service. The facilities were inadequate, with just one restroom for an excessive number of people. The area where we were supposed to float was overcrowded, causing constant collisions with others. Back in the “dressing room,” there was no one available to assist with removing the wetsuit. Later, we were offered a small cup of hot sugary juice in another overcrowded space, where it was impossible to even sit down. The entire experience was unpleasant due to the poor equipment, excessive number of participants, and lack of service. I would neither recommend your tours nor book with your company again. In contrast, we recently participated in several tours with Arctic Circle, which provided a vastly superior experience. Their staff prioritizes customer care, uses high-quality equipment, offers spacious facilities, and handles everything professionally. I hope this reaches your customer service team. This was a complete organizational disaster, and we were deeply dissatisfied with every aspect of the tourWritten 9 January 2025

- 448charlottes0 contributionsSnowmobile delight!Amazing!! Great snowmobile tour. All equipment supplied, clear instructions and well catered for all skill levels. The track was nice and close to Rovamami so the commute time only 15 minutes or so. Great day out!Written 5 January 2025
- tiax290 contributionsBIG GROUP TOURS - Disappointed by how they handled their mistakeWe booked 2 tours with this provider: 1 booked with Manawa (Northern light esperience), and 1 booked directly on-site (snowmobile tour). The Northern light experience takes place within a big group (full bus), and the location is only 15 minutes' drive from Rovaniemi: once you arrive there, you don't change location, you sit there, make a barbecue and (fingers crossed!) you can see the Northern lights. Then, we booked on-site a snowmobile tour, wich was overall nice; however, we are very disappointed by the last-second change in the starting time that was communicated to us by Whatsapp only 4.5 hours after we booked the tour directly at their office! Around 17:00, we booked the tour for the day after at 10:00 am; then, around 21:30, they called us to say that - due to a mistake ok their side - the tour was moved at 8:30 am. We asked for an explanation, we wanted to get our money back since we were not happy with the new starting time, but they refused to give our money back. We are sorry but this last second change due to their mistake - without giving us any explanation - was UNACCEPTABLE!Written 5 January 2025

- carlb5500 contributionsCould take it or leave it, expensive attraction that didn’t hit the mark by far.The peak season bus loads of day visitors daily filled all attractions by 11am and left us as with limited options to enjoy the attractions. We were house guests of the Santa Claus igloos and as paying house guests you would expect any kind of “insider passes” or “guest priority bookings”. Basically if you didn’t book the day before you didn’t get on any rides. Santa experience is rushed and commercialised, he said “hello” then “I hope you enjoy your stay in Finland” to every guest we paid $55EURO for 3 digital downloads. Also if you are planning a trip, you should pre-book your rides and events, and make sure you budget for $50 EURO each for long queues and short rides. Basically allow $500 euro for a full day to experience all attractions. Then there is the 15-20 gift shops you would do well if you are able to avoid. The least memorable was the “information” stand were the girls were there to sell “Arctic circle certificates” and basically couldn’t help me when I asked which food venues had kids menus, they tried to upsell me to the “ice world experience as it has a bar”. 🤷♂️ anyway if you are after a pretty old and tacky amusement park basing its revenue of Santa himself… you found it.Written 4 January 2025
- ioanai4710 contributionsExcellent!I recently participated in the 5 km Snowy Trails Husky Safari with Nordic Unique Travels in Rovaniemi, and it was an exhilarating experience. Our guide, Heidi, was exceptional; she took great care of us and provided fascinating insights into the lives and training of huskies. It was something I'll never forget. I highly recommend this adventure to anyone seeking an authentic Arctic experience.Written 3 January 2025
- ioanai4710 contributionsAmazingI recently participated in the "Bus Tour with Hunting Northern Lights" in Rovaniemi, and it was an unforgettable experience. The tour was exceptionally well-organized; our guides, Irene and Pierre, selected optimal locations for viewing the aurora borealis, ensuring we had the best chance to witness this natural wonder. After the viewing, they took us to a warm, comfortable setting where they provided insightful information about the aurora borealis, enhancing our understanding and appreciation. Their assistance with photography was invaluable, helping us capture stunning images of the lights. I highly recommend this tour to anyone seeking a comprehensive and enjoyable northern lights experience. IoanaWritten 3 January 2025
- DeniseK2410 contributionsDon’t fall for it!It’s terrible. Don’t fall for it. DO NOT do both things below : book through Nordic and go for this scamming activity. This was what happened: 1. It was not magical as it described on the website. We were being brought to a “husky farm” after about 40min coach ride. There wasn’t a proper toilet for guests to use before or after the husky ride. 2. There was no proper briefing to tell you what to expect during the ride. No talking to you about the life of the huskies. Most of the dogs don’t look like husky at all. They looked really like mongrels. 3. We were hurried to the sled after some hot berry juice in the tipi. 4. The dogs ran for about 4km to 5km to “chase” the northern lights. Which there were nothing to see although the sky were clear. The guide driving the sled did not stop at any point at all to allow us to see if there are activities in the sky. 5. After the ride, came down from the sled and we were asked to return to the coach. 6. At this point, the co-guide told us that they will bring us to try to catch aurora at a nearby forest area. 7. The bus wanted to turn into the forest area (there were many other tour buses already there), but Massi, the main guide stopped the driver and told him that Nordic office instructed him to return to the office. 8. We then asked Massi why. He gave a few crappy reasons. He said A) We already caught the aurora earlier during the husky ride, so there wasn’t a need to continue the chase. B) the tour we booked is only for 5km distance which already covered by the husky. This was rubbish. C) We paid lower price package. Again it’s rubbish because we paid 189 Euros! Guys, if you are reading this. Please do not fall for the description. We had done top notch Husky ride experience in another city in Finland. This offered by Nordic was the worst experience we had in Finland. Nordic offered us some refunds but offered zero explanation on why they screwed up our tour experience.Written 2 January 2025
