Ice-strewn Jokulsarlon—one of Iceland’s top sights—attracts thousands of visitors every year hoping to get a close look at the glacier lagoon. The lagoon is roughly a 5-hour drive from Reykjavik and can be difficult to fit into an efficient itinerary. This tour combines a lagoon cruise with a coach tour of southern Iceland, stopping at waterfalls and scenic viewpoints on your way to visit one of the country’s natural wonders.

What to Expect

Board your bus at a central Reykjavik pickup point and set off on your journey towards Iceland’s southern coast.

Drive past picturesque villages, glacial rivers, and volcanic peaks. Listen while your guide shares stories about southern Iceland, and marvel at the epic landscapes of Skaftafell, a wilderness area in Vatnajökull National Park.

Stop at Skogarfoss waterfall and drive through Skeidararsandur, a vast black sand plain. See Oraefajokull—Iceland’s largest active volcano—just before you reach the lagoon.

Next, visit Seljalandfoss and take the footpath behind the mighty falls. Then, hop back on board the bus for the drive back to Reykjavik to be dropped off at the departure point.

Long trip is worth it!

This was a long day, starting at 8am and getting back at 10pm, with a lot of driving in between, but the views and Jokulsarlon are worth the wait. We had amazing views along the way, and we also had the chance to stop off...More

This very long(over 14 hours) but all encompassing tour of the South Coast on Gateway to Iceland was definitely worth it if you are staying in Reykjavik and want to see the the Glaciers. I would totally recommend including the boat ride among the icebergs....More

Very enjoyable

We travelled with Gray Line last week on this tour. As I have found with Gray Line, everything was run with clockwork precision. I cannot fault them on their timekeeping...which is very reassuring. The coach was lovely and comfortable and we had plenty of toilet/food...More
