    What to Expect
Your hiking adventure starts with a pick up from Reykjavik, set off for a trip to the smoky valley of Reykjadalur in a comfortable, air conditioned vehicle. After roughly an hour, you will arrive to Reykjadalur Valley, a geothermal area situated in the Mt Hengill volcanic range, where hot springs burst from the ground to form bubbling pools and lagoons. Hear about how Hveragerdi‘s famous hothouses use the natural underground heat of the are to grow flowers, fruits and vegatables all year round before you set off for your hiking adventure up the valley.

Follow your expert guide up the valley, through Reykjadalur‘s hills. As you walk, listen to stories of Iceland‘s past, and stop to admire the abundance of geothermal features, from gurgling hot ponds and turquoise pools to rushing rivers, all emitting plumes of warm steam and each evidence of Hengill‘s activity below ground.

Hike around the base of Hellisgeidi mountain range past gushing springs and take a break from your hike beside a naturally heated pool. If ou wish, enjoy a relaxing bathe in the inviting hot waters, letting the warmth envelop you as you soak in the beautiful setting of the valley. Suitably refreshed, continue your relaxed hike back to Hveragerdi before jumping back into the air conditioned vehicle and heading back to Reykjavik where your trip ends

This experience was noted as a "moderate" hike. This was NOT moderate. On a clear, cool day, maybe. On a day like we went? It was hard, and I mean really, really hard. The temperature was about 2 celsius with blasting winds. Although I was prepared for the temperature (coat,
