Travel easily between sites around the Snaefellsnes peninsula
See several of Iceland's most famous sights in just one day

Visit Icelandic fishing villages and black-sand beaches
What to expect
Begin the morning with pickup in Reykjavik. Greet your guide and sit back for the drive north to the Snaefellsnes peninsula—it's a scenic one. While ogling the landscape, listen as your guide offers insight into the flora and fauna of Iceland, as well as the cultural heritage of the region—Jules Verne, for example, introduced the world to Snaefellsjökull glacier when he featured it in his novel, 'Journey to the Center of the Earth.' Learn about the ecosystem of Snaefellsjökull glacier as you see it for yourself and then continue to majestic Kirkjufell, Iceland's most photographed mountain. After a lunch break in the old fishing village of Hellnar (own expense), visit another small fishing village named Arnarstapi and take a stroll over the black sand of Djúpalónssandur beach, surrounded by towering cliffs and volcanic craters. The tour ends with drop-off back in Reykjavik.

Fabulous day trip
Feb 2020
This is a long day at 11 + hours, but every minute of it is fabulous! We were VERY lucky to get excellent weather during our late February trip, so the scenery was stunning. The guide, Halldór, was exceptional. An absolute font of knowledge who effortlessly narrated the tour in English and German, he made the trip even that much better. He gave out loads of great information both as we travelled and as we reached the various sites but also knew when to leave some quiet time so the passengers could just enjoy the spectacular Icelandic scenery. Without doubt, one of the best guides I have encountered anywhere in the world! The driving conditions were not always smooth sailing, with occasional blowing snow, ice and plenty of tight, crowded parking lots, but the excellent driver Björgvin (Dunni) was a absolute professional. I felt completely relaxed the whole time we were on the road, which is something I most assuredly wouldn't if I had been driving my own rental car in the same conditions! There was plenty of time for sightseeing and photos at each stop and an excellent selection of sights ranging from beaches to villages to exquisite mountains. I couldn't recommend this tour more highly...even in the dead of winter! Reykjavik Excursions were professional and easy to deal with, the equipment was excellent and in top condition and the guide and driver were top notch. I could't have asked for a better day out!!

Stunning countryside trip
Jan 2020
Although quite a long trip, about 12 hrs, it was worth every minute and every penny, taking us all around the huge peninsula, with plenty to see, and plenty information to absorb. Loved it...

Amazing 1 day trip and landscape. Even though was cold and wet, we enjoyed the journey and fantastic landscape. The restaurant we stopped by was delicious. Recommend!

Fist January organisation not really good
Jan 2020 • Solo
We haven't follow the initial plan because it was first January and restaurants were closed.

Our guide stop us at a restaurant which takes 2h to serve everyone.

We lost this time of light on our trip and have finished the most beautiful part of the visit almost in the dark with a terrible icy snow storm.

It was really disappointing because this last part was definitely the most interesting...

Dear Lucie We would like to apologize for the inconvenience caused by the weather and also by the closing of our normal lunch spot. Yes, at this time of year we unfortunately have a lot of darkness and very few hours of sunlight. Despite those incidences I truly hope that you enjoyed the tour. We will definitely take your observation into account. We also hope that you thoroughly enjoyed Iceland Best wishes Team Reykjavik Excursions

Snæfellsnes peninsula New Year Day trip
We took 3 excursions with Reykjavík Excursions company, and unfortunately this one was very badly organised. It was on January 1, we were told there was only 1 restaurant open for lunch in the area. However, they didn’t think to arrange set meals or at least give a limited choice of dishes to us and then pre-order food so we don’t have to wait. Instead, we had to order from the menu at the restaurant - and for the group of 46 people it took 2 hours to have lunch! Considering daylight is about 6 hours -that was time completely lost.

Very windy and cold weather but beautiful
Jan 2020 • Solo
The drive on 1January was cold and windy. As we stopped by at the various stops, the weather kept on changing, and there was wind, hail, and snow flying all around. The views were really beautiful and spectacular. The guide took the effort to tell us about the Icelandic sagas and their roles in the culture and history of the country.

Great trip and great guide!
Nov 2019 • Couples
This was a great day trip and our guide Inka was amazing. She had so much knowledge and shared it in a fun and interesting way. It's a full day trip with lots of stops along the way, we felt that we had enough time at each stop to comfortably enjoy ourselves. Would definitely recommend this trip.

Fantastic tour with Albert, an authentic Icelander, who was funny, personable and knowledgeable! We had a great day visiting lots of stunning locations. Albert kept things running efficiently whilst providing lots of information and humour. As good as the Golden Circle tour was, this felt a more genuine experience around multiple sights. An absolute highlight of our trip!
