Really nice and fun experience, the driver Elly was really friendly and everything was well organized. The view and the nature is amazing. We had the opportunity to drive the Jeep in the river and in the black sand beach and we felt lots of adrenaline.

        Otherworldly Thrill
Away from the tour buses in fact, away from anything that won’t ford rivers and wade through as much as 18” of slush! Asgeir, our guide, took us on a spectacular adventure to places seen typically only in the summer. And, we had the great fun of driving the Hulux about 1/2 of the time. Would do again in a heart beat.

        The Time of my Life!!
We met up at ATX facilities in the morning, we had booked 8 cars to go for the unusual golden circle, and unusual it was.. :) Ok, so didn't we have the ultimate photoconditions, "the moneyshot" wasn't captured, but that doesn't ruin the adventure. We got to drive in a standard off-road route, crossing some rivers and having SO much fun in these awesome vehicles. I got to drive the AT3 Land Cruiser, and now I want one..! When the guided tour was over the weather decided to go all hamock on us, all the mountainpasses got closed and we had no way to go back to Reykjavik.. At least that would've been the case if we were driving a standard road-car and didn't have the most awesome guide. Making a very long story just a long story, we ended up driving over a winterclosed mountain pass, deflated the tires and just "went for it". And thanks to the guide everyone got the confidence and skills to manage through these roads with about zero visibility at times, in a storm that sounded like we'd parked in a sandblaster. I cant praise the guide(s) highly enough, he was in so good spirit and it rubbed off on to even the grumpier guys in our group. So the fact that the tour ended up beeing 5hrs longer than planned was just a bonus for us! :) One thing is certain, this was the most fun I've ever had with my clothes on, and I'm coming back that's for sure!!(I'll keep the clothes on the next time also, some records isn't worht it..). :)

Brilliant Driving Experience - Everything we had hoped for and more
We took the 2 day trip driving through Fjallabak with an overnight stay in the mountain hut in Landmannalaugar. We went at the beginning of February, the weather was good with clear blue skies and plenty of snow on the ground in the mountains. It was a private tour with just us in the car with our guide Bjarki. We had such a brilliant time we would definitely recommend this to anyone going to Iceland. If you enjoy 4x4 cars, getting off road, beautiful scenery and an adventure this will be right up your street. Highlights: Iceland is beautiful, you get out out in to the mountains and its nothing like we have in the UK. Learning about the car and what to do in the driving conditions Getting stuck and using the jack, winch and rocks to try a free the car (and failing) Being rescued by mountain rescue (they were staying in the same mountain hut as us luckily) The hot chocolate! I need to get some in the UK :) Bjarki, our guide. He has a wealth of knowledge and we felt safe and in good hands at all time Digging out some stuck tourists on the way home Waking up with the sun rising over the snow covered mountains we were surrounded by We will never forget the memories of this trip What you should take: Definitely take a camera Take warm clothes and waterproof trousers. (we ended up walking the last bit to the cabin in the show) Food and warm bedding is provided, take some snacks for the car if you want Take a swimming costume you can swim in the warm river (although we chickened out, will have to go back again) We want to go back and do it all again and see what it's like in the summer.

Iceland is overwhelming! This tour helps.
Incredible tour at your hands! Our guide was great. Very patient with us and very informative. We explored quite a bit and even saw some beautiful sights he has never seen before by being adventurous! Would definitely recommend this company to anyone checking out Iceland. There is so much to do in Iceland and nearly impossible to do it all. These tours help out by offering trips and sights in a well-organized manner.

        Great Icelandic activity
I had a huge amount of fun during the tour. Aron was an excellent guide. A great thing is that the adventure begins in just a few-minute drive from Reykjavik.

        Cannot recommend it highly enough
Just come back from our second (so far) trip with ATE and it was just as amazing as the first. You think normal Iceland is breathtaking but then you get to see so much more in an Arctic Truck, not only that but the truck will get you through all of the lava fields, blizzards, glaciers and back again.

        Awesome Adventure
Just got back from a winter self-drive tour of the Southern Highlands led by Gestur. 4 days of awesomeness! The trucks are unstoppable and tremendously fun to drive. Can’t recommend Arctic Trucks or Gestur enough.

        Expensive but worth it
I don't know how we could've seen the off road sights that we saw without a private guide and without one of these off roading trucks. Our guide was friendly and flexible. We wanted to see the Basalt columns and the guide was able to fit it in our schedule somehow. He also went above and beyond. We needed to get some alcohol before arriving in Reykjavik but unfortunately all liquor stores will be closed way before we get back in Reykjavik. The guide made it work by calling a liquor store on the way and paid for it with his credit card and asked the store clerk to drop it off at the gas station across the street from them so we can pick it up on our way. Wow! Now that's great customer service.

If a picture is a 1000 words then seeing it is 1 billion words
This was our first visit to Iceland and we decided that we will go all out and book 4 nights trip around Iceland. To be honest I don't think we would be able to see the places that we visited if we went with anybody else other than Arctic Trucks. These guys are amazing. Everything was arranged done to every detail. We were booked in great restaurants and even the menu was chosen for us to keep it simple and get the very best. Our tour guide was very experienced and took us to few places were not many tourist visit which was nice. Iceland is definitely on my list of places to visit again and have to get another tour package to continue the adventure.

Going on a safari to and on a glazier in a purpose built off road vehicle is the most amazing thing I have ever done. If you have the chance: don't hesitate, just DO IT; you won't regret it.

you are most likely reading this review wondering if you should do the Arctic Truck Experience, the simple answer is most definitely yes, yes, yes. Our trip began answer 8.30am when we were met answer to our hotel by our guide Benedict, we left our hotel and we're shown our transport, the amazing toyota hilux which had had the same value of the vehicle spent on modifications including huge 38" tires. Over the next eight hours our trip lead us to some of the most remote and breathtaking parts of iceland that are only accessible by something as special as the hilux. We traveled over rivers, across glaciers, up a mountain, to waterfalls and volcanoes. Through it the day Benedict was always and hand with the most interesting info and stories about iceland. This really is a once in a lifetime experience and for the day you too can drive a truck made by the same company that Built the Top Gear truck that Jeremy Clarkson and James May drove to the north pole. Don't hesitate and get booked, you will not regret it.

We did all the trips and they were all good but this took it to a different level!! Our guide(Sven) was full of interesting information and had an amazing knowledge of the area and showed us all the best places to see and drive....I did all the driving under his careful eye and giving me the benefit of his off road experience!! Can’t wait to go back ...it might cost a little more but it’s worth every penny and maybe a little bit more

We selected to drive the Land Cruiser and chose a day trip at Þórsmörk and Eyjafjallajökull where we visited glaciers, falls, volcano and canyons. We drove over streams and rocks and it was a one-of-a-kind experience. The updated, well-maintained vehicles as well as our awesome guide, Inge, gave us full confidence to learn how to navigate in land or water. We not only experienced the unique drive but saw, felt and enjoyed the best of Iceland in a day. BTW, we did not decide to tour Iceland first, it was because of the Arctic Trucks Experience that we decided to tour in Iceland! It is worth better than any excursion we have taken in any part of the world so far...

We had a blast on our half day trip out in the mountains. We had our children with us, and they loved it. We got first hand experience and a 101 on how to drive in deep snow. We had a great tour guide that worked hard when I got our car stuck in the snow. After the trip up in the mountains, the guide took us to a cave system. It was an awesome experience for the whole family.

      Would recommend it to all!

This is a great tour if you have the chance to do it, the ultimate hi-lux and when snowmobiling got to go inside an ice cave on the Langjökull glacier, we enjoyed the experience so much that we are considering going back next summer time to do a few days tour of the Highlands. I would definitely use and recommend Arctic trucks experience as they were very proffessional and our guide Gummi was really knowledgeable and made the experience perfect, thanks guys. 👍

This company is so cool. I booked the Ice Cave not realizing that the customer does ALLL the driving.

I am an adrenaline junkie and gravitate to thrilling adventures. After I got over the shock of seeing the guide in the passenger seats, I grabbed a quad-espresso and took the reigns.

The view through the countryside (Reykjavík to Ice Cave) looked like a movie set. The art of driving was pretty average until we got near the glacier. HOLY CANOLI‼️

Arctic Trucks are Toyota pick-ups that have been modified to handle Iceland conditions.

There were only two of us on the tour. We got to share and learn a great deal with our guide. We stopped at a few waterfalls, a hot spring, and at a resort for lunch.

But the crown jewel was me being able to drive the truck up the Langjokull glacier. Wow, wow.

There were a bunch of switches, buttons and a portable GPS in the cab that the guide used to manage how the truck performed.

It looked like I was driving in the clouds, amongst angels... the swirling wind, drifting snow and pure whiteness was ominous and empowering. Heavenly Armageddon. Weird and wonderful.

Then there was the “Into The Cave” ice cave tour... it was warmer inside the ice cave than it was on the glacier. I will review the Ice Cave separately since it is a different company.

I have traveled to all 7 continents— I skydive, scuba dive, snow ski, race boats, fly helicopters, etc... driving up the glacier ranks with the most memorable of my excursions.

      Experience driving a manual useful.

Arna was our guide... I recommend him highly. He customized the tour for us and tackled the glacier when other operators canceled.

We chose the three day Mountain Hut Experience by Arctic Trucks for our most recent trip to Iceland. It truly was a proper adventure! After a first day of driving, we spent the night at a cabin at Kerlingarfjoll. And were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights while there. Our second day of driving took us to Landmannalaugar in the highlands. A remote and beautiful place. When we tried to leave Landmannalaugar on day three, we were stopped by poor visibility (we only drove ~1 mile in 4 hours). Our guide, Jon, wisely suggested we stay another night at the mountain hut. The next day we were able to make it out and back to Reykjavik without any problem. Our guide Jon was just great. Very knowledgeable and friendly, he took excellent care of us. As did Arctic Trucks. In the months before our trip they answered every question we had about our upcoming adventure quickly and with care. We couldn't have had a better experience!

We rented a HiLux for one day and went to the highland with our kids (6 and 9). We are used to real off-road-driving so the way to Landmannalaugur was pretty easy, but we really went there comfortable! And we could easy take off to all kind of roads. After Landmannalaugur we found a way to Hekla and went up really high (896 m), since the weather was perfect! The view was absolutely amazing! (Maby this is not for everyone, we had a driver with experience). We loved it and the kids loved it!
