About
MEET THE ELVES, TROLLS & GHOSTS OF ICELAND Iceland is sometimes called the land of the Sagas and on this mythical walk, you get the chance to hear many interesting sagas involving the hidden people and creatures of Iceland The Elves & Trolls of Iceland We will tell you all about the Elves and Trolls of Iceland, Ghosts like the Deacon of the dark river, the unique mostly aquatic monsters, the 13 Santa’s (it’s not enough to have just one Santa Claus in Iceland after all ;)), their mother the child eating troll called Grýla and finally the only known serial killer of Iceland in a land where it’s easy to get lost in the lava fields. Storytelling is a skill In the long winter nights in Iceland storytelling has been the primary entertainment for people so there are reasons why Icelanders love books and have the highest literacy rate in the world.

Fun way to spend a couple of hours in Reykjavik
Sep 2021
This was a fun way to learn a little about Iceland, see some of the city, and meet a local. Our guide Stefan was hilarious. Each of us in our group of three loved him. He was knowledgable, fun, and kept our small group engaged and entertained. There was never a dull moment. Highly recommend.

Looking for trolls in Reykjavik
We enjoyed an interesting walking tour learning a bit of history, but more importantly, gain lots of knowledge about elves, trolls, hidden people and the Norse gods. Our guide, Bardi was great fun and a wonderful storyteller. Keeping everyone from grandma and grandpa to two teenagers engaged is a job and Bardi was superb. Our lunch of traditional lamb soup and a sampler of Beer for the adults was the perfect end to a lovely morning.

Great introduction to the Icelandic sagas
Jun 2020
This tour is both fun and informative. Fantastic stories about elves, trolls, and ghosts. You'll even learn icelandic magic: How to wake a zombie or how to get filthy rich. Along the way, you'll also hear about the rich history of Iceland and the city of Reykjavik. The guide Bardi does a great job being very knowledgeable and entertaining at the same time. Truly "your friend in Reykjavik".

Folk Lore Walk
We enjoyed the numerous folk tales that Snaedis shared. She was knowledgeable, engaging, and kept the experience interactive. She even took extra measures by sending us local info on restaurants, etc. , after the walk. Well done!

great guide, interesting stories
Nov 2019
We had a wonderful time on the walk. We got to see a lot of the city, and the guide (Bardi) was fantastic. It was interesting to hear about the Elves and Hidden People, and seeing the cemetery alone was worth the price of the tour. Our daughter has been reading Norse Mythology so she had a particularly good time.

One bit of advice: dress warmly!

Great Way to Start Our Vacation!
Nov 2019
We arrived in Iceland from the US at 6:30 in the morning and with the time change we didn't want to end up sleeping the day away so we made sure to book some things for the day we arrived but didn't want anything too strenuous. After a little nap we got ready for our tour! We booked through Viator and there was a weird mix up with the time, we thought it was later than it actually was. Thankfully, our guide, Snaedis called to check on us and we were able to meet up with her and start our tour without any trouble. The tour was wonderful!! The stories we were given were charming, fun, and informative! The walk through the city was lovely! It was a great way to get a lay of the land on our first day, it was exactly what we needed! We really enjoyed ourselves and highly recommend the tour. We got good recommendations from Snaedis on places to eat and things to do during our visit as well!

First off thank you for your kind words, Snædís is truly great. I'm sincerely sorry about the time mismatch, Viator helped fix the connection to our booking system. Regards Valur Your Friend In Reykjavik

Lovely 90 minute Tour around the City
Oct 2019 • Couples
We went on our first day in Iceland and it really was very enjoyable. The young tour guide told wonderful stories and pointed out interesting sites. This allows you to see the different side of the city and places you wouldn’t normally go to. Great tour in a great place. Plus who doesn’t love a fairy rock.
