Itinerary
- 1Discover the waters of the Blue Lagoon. A journey through a spa of the volcanic earth harmonizes with nature. The Blue Lagoon is one of Iceland´s most popular attractions and does not need any introduction. A unique and relaxing geothermal spa located in a beautiful lava field only 45 minutes from Reykjavik. The Blue Lagoon is a must-visit place for all guests of Iceland. Please note that entry to the Blue Lagoon is NOT included in the tour price and must be pre-booked. In 2012 the Blue Lagoon was listed as one of the world’s 25 wonders by the National Geographic magazine. Can you imagine the scene? You laying in the milky white warm bath located in the raw and rugged lava field while maybe having the chance of seeing the Northern lights in the sky (over wintertime)? That is a travel story everyone loves to bring back to their friends and family. Here are some facts about the Blue Lagoon: • It's man-made • The steaming hot water is first used as a geothermal power plant and then directed into the lagoon • The temperature of the lagoon is 37-40°C (98- 104°F) • The water comes from the depth of 2000 meters (6561 ft) • The lava filed it’s located in is 800-year-old • In the lagoon, you will find an in- water cave, warm waterfall and an in-water bar where you can purchase drinks while in the lagoon. • They're nothing less than 9 million liters (2,377,548 gallons) of water in the lagoon. • Every 40 hours the total supply of the lagoon's water has been renewed. • The beautiful blue color comes from the silica. The lagoon's water is a combination of freshwater and seawater and really rich in silica and minerals. • In the summertime, you’ll get an extra color to the mixture or the color green which comes from algae. • The healing water has helped a lot of people with psoriasis or other skin ailments. • At the Blue Lagoon, you can choose from 3 packages. Basic, comfort, and luxury • It’s not recommended to bring children younger than 2 years old.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Glen E0 contributionsFabulous location but our tour cancelledThe lagoon is dreamlike. The icebergs are big and colourful and close to the shore. Sadly, it was too windy for us to go out on the water but the site was marvellous anyway. Staff were helpful and hopeful. We got a full refund.Written 1 June 2024
- jenniferoI7350SV0 contributionsKind and punctualThe driver was early, which is obviously so much better than being late. He was also so kind and friendly. He also gave us some tips and insight into the different seasons to travel back to Iceland.Written 12 March 2024
- Torch H0 contributionsGreat service and reliableGreat transfer. I used this company for my arrival and departure. Both ways went smoothly and the drivers were on time and very nice. It was well worth the money as other foreigners said they used flybus and I was told it was quite a nightmare.Written 6 November 2023
- OnAir454866613910 contributionsGreat companyWe had Oak Travel for our entire stay from airport pick up and Blue Lagoon, to a city tour, Golden Circle and South Coast tours. All the guides were wonderful and informative. Made our trip a once in a lifetime experience.Written 19 September 2023
- DCPhotog210 contributionsOak Travel is the best.Oak did our airport transfers (as well as several tours and other transfers during the trip). The drivers were all great -- prompt, friendly and informative. Plus, the company was more than willing to accommodate changes resulting from cancelled flights and other things outside their control. I cannot recommend them enough.Written 14 September 2023
- Netanel P0 contributionsI have to say, that this was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.My friends and I used Oak Travel for our recent trip to Iceland and had a private tour of the Golden Circle and the South Coast. Not only did we get to see so many amazing places in the Golden Circle and the South Coast, but our guide, Siggi, was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We spent hours laughing with him and learned so much about Icelandic history and culture while going from one place to the next. I would highly recommend this tour company to anyone looking for an unforgettable adventureWritten 6 September 2023
- Narrowboat_traveler0 contributionsGreat trip from KEF.Excellent driver. Our flight was delayed but he met us in the arrivals hall when we departed Customs. Very friendly and full of local knowledge and recommendations. Would use him again if the opportunity presented.Written 1 September 2023
- rvaitor0 contributionsGreat experienceThis was one of our favorite activities that we experienced in Iceland. We opted for the group Zodiac tour. The "Duck" boat and Kayak tours don't go nearly as far as the Zodiacs. We went all the way to the glacier. It was absolutely amazing. We saw seals and calving glaciers. I highly recommend this tour.Written 6 August 2023
- Archem190 contributionsIceland, the land of AuroraThe most beautiful part of Iceland/Reykjavik is of course, the nature. The stark white landscape with the underlying volcanos, the geothermal geysers, the frozen waterfalls, the Ocean, and the highlight of the place, the Aurora Borealis, aka Northern lights every single one is worth a mention by itself. We went on a tour by Reykjavik sightseeing tours and our guide Cristina was amazing Not just informative, but proactive. A couple on the bus lost their phone on the tour in a waterfall and she contacted another tour operator who was just reaching there, got them to pick it up, and got them to deliver it to them. Kudos Cristina. For travellers, a word of caution keep track of the days when you can and cannot see the Aurora. Keep an extra day. They are not visible if there are clouds and rains and then the trip is a waste. Please carry lots of woolens, it goes down to -21 °C. Keep your eyes open for open spaces where there are no street lights (especially near the ocean) where you may see the lights without a tour(we did!) Carry shoes that are suitable for ice. Ice is slippery. Enjoy like we loved Reykjavik.Written 3 February 2023
- michelle85190 contributionsGood and bad - it's a long day.The stops were fantastic and we are glad we got to see them BUT the first 2 stops we only had 40 minutes at each place and the walks were atleast that. No time to really take it in or enjoy it. Was a rush to get back to the bus. The last stop was an hour at 10 minutes and was more relaxed. It was around 8 hours all in and only 3 of them were off of the bus. That was for the first part. Then when we returned to Reykjavik it was another hour to get to the blue lagoon. The day was 14 hours all in and the MAJORITY of that is on a bus. The Blue lagoon is fabulous in the dark and I would recommend. I would recommend doing these trips on 2 seperate days. To do them as 1 left us tired with numb bums!Written 15 November 2022
- V R0 contributionsAn Amazing Thing To DoThis is a must do. A lagoon tour on a zodiac. You go out on a zodiac with a small group fitted up in an immersion suit for safety and comfort. The boat zips along at speed to the face of the glacier, but stops along the way to see up close seals on ice floes/rocks, and the incredible icebergs that have calved from the glacier. It's a majestic and unreal experience. Be sure to book before going as it's a popular experience and numbers are limited. People ahead of us when we were checking in could not get tickets - all times for the day were sold out.Written 29 June 2022
- suw090020 contributionsEfficient, flexible, friendlyI booked a tour for my dad’s 7 hour layover. They did a great job accommodating airport pick up and drop off, and monitored the flight for ideal pick up. They were flexible with what my dad wanted to spend his time, being someone who preferred seeing more sights than bathing in the blue lagoon. My dad enjoyed a very nice lunch (not included) and time with the guide, getting to know him and the Iceland well. Thank you for the flawless experience and showing my dad a good time in such a short period of time!Written 28 June 2022
- vrkung0 contributionsWe went twiceIt's so spectacular that we came twice. The free parking is located right at the lagoon which is very large. Jokulsarlon glacier is quite a distance away and may not be viewable if rainy. The icebergs are numerous and humongous. Seals and birds swim around near the channel to the Sea. To my limited observatiob, the boat tours do not take visitors to the glacier front but to see icebergs more closely.Written 21 May 2022
- YPK710 contributionsProfessional, friendly and VIPOur first trip to Iceland and we are so lucky to have found Oak Travel and Thorir. Our tour was tailor made, starting from the airport, covering the south coast and back to golden circle / blue lagoon. It was a special occasion and we wanted to go at an easy pace. Everything was amazing, from the selection of hotels to cafes to the sights. Thorir was great company and professional. He was flexible and always there to help, including offering us his personal gear when we needed it ! Even added off the beaten track special stops. We would definitely recommend him to everyone for an amazing Icelandic experience.Written 10 April 2022
- hatmsmith0 contributionsFabulous sceneryBooked this tour during our recent cruise to Iceland. Our plans changed and the organiser was very helpful in rescheduling for us. Pickup was on time at the cruise port and after a quick change to another bus the tour was under way. Our driver was Omar and he was fabulous during the tour delighting in telling us about Iceland folklore and other facts. The scenery on the tour is just amazing. This was a long tour and took about 12 hours door to door but we'll worth it. Highly recommended for those who want a lot in a short time.Written 27 March 2022
