- We get to try the cooked infused Maltese coffee with chicory, cloves and aniseed.
- We get to taste the local bitter sweet drink, Kinnie.
- A nice bottle of local beer at one of the Valletta clubs to wash down the ftira with.
- The Maltese have pastizzi for breakfast and we will let you decide whether you like the pea or ricotta ones better.
- We're sure you will love the fried date pastry sweet which we call imqaret. We also taste the baked cheese snack called Twistees and some sea salt chocolate along with the coffee.
- We end our morning having some nice ftira lunchtime bread which we traditionally fill with tuna chunks, tomato conserve, onions, capers, olives and other Mediterranean produce.

- nicksweet640 contributionsAutumn Mdina your.Lively, interesting and none stop information and facts. Excellent tour and a pleasure to walk with Chris. From the informal introductions to the local facts and stories the whole tour was faultless. Thank you.Written 4 November 2024
- packaginguru0 contributionsEngaging, entertaining and knowledgeable tourChris was an amazing guide. His family traces its roots to Rabat to 1443- that’s what I call a local! He was engaging, passionate and very knowledgeable about Mdina and Rabat, giving a flavour of the area over time. You’ll be fortunate to have Chris as your guide. Great job, and worth every penny.Written 1 November 2024
- Astible3Ottawa0 contributionsKnowledgeable and friendly guide for interesting small group toursWe were very happy that we chose Christian Galea to be our guide for 2 small group walking tours when we visited Malta. We took the "Mdina and Rabat Insider’s" tour one afternoon and the "3 Cities Tour" the next day. Chris is relaxed, friendly and very proud of his amazing country. He clearly loves to show visitors some of the best sights and helped us understand the history of the island and the culture of the Maltese people. It was easy to book the very reasonably priced tours online through the Best Tours Malta website. Highly recommended!Written 30 October 2024
- NedHickey10 contributionsNot worth the price or timeThe quality of the main meal was poor especially for the price paid for this tour. Also, having chocolates and sweet liquor before the main meal is not customary most anywhere. This should have occurred after the main meal. This tour is overpriced for the value received.Written 30 October 2024

It was a pleasure being shown round by him and you can tell by his interactions with nearly every local we met how well liked a guy he is. The group was a maximum of 12 so a really personalised tour. Chris was full of interesting and fascinating facts and also had some funny stories. The catacombs were a real delight to see and not every tour visits these. So glad I chose this tour and cannot recommend it enough.Written 17 October 2024

Welcoming, engaging and interesting from the outset.
As our first day trip on the island of Malta we could not recommend the delightful jovial banter with Christian and his introduction to our small group of compadres enough... having done double figures of capital city food and wine tours elsewhere it rates in our top 3 as we had delicious food, insights of history and it leaves us with fond and enduring memories of Valletta and the one of a kind island of Malta. We cannot recommend this adventure/experience enough for its variety and balanced tone and delivery... we'd like a Chocolate District in EVERY location too!!! Eve and Chris

We had an absolutely fantastic time walking the streets of Valletta with Christian. He is knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about the city and has plenty of stories that help you understand the unique history of one of the most beautiful cities you will ever visit. The food we had was all traditional and delicious including the best pastizzi you will ever taste, many other pastries, tea done the Maltese way, local style snacks and beers. Christian knows the best local places and can provide plenty of recommendations for traditional Maltese food, pasta, craft beer and any cuisine you’re interested in. All in all a perfect walking tour... and ignore the silly untrue two star review below, nothing could be further from the truth. We had a great time!

We met Chris and the rest of our small group of 7 in the morning and the tour lasted until after lunch. We tried some traditional breakfast food right at the start and had other tasters throughout the day, finishing off with a generous lunch. You won’t need to eat anything before this tour.
Chris was very friendly and explained the origins of the food and drink we were trying and some history of Malta. If you aren’t a history scholar, don’t worry because everything is very accessible and he explained some very interesting connections whilst showing us around and stopping off at various places. Chris is Maltese and worked as a qualified guide for several years before setting up this tour. He’s genuinely interested in his country and its people and wanted us to enjoy the experience too.
I can’t fault this tour and I highly recommend it to anyone

We are in Valletta for a short break so any tours we took were going to have to be top notch!! So happy to report that this is great in every way. Chris met us at 10:30 and made everyone feel comfortable as we introduced ourselves, there were 10 in all, 4 from Ireland, 4 from the US and 2 not from Amsterdam…but The Hague, as we all know that Amsterdam is overrated.
Chris was such a professional and gave us a great tour, we sampled plenty of local delicacies and some nice drinks also on the way. The tour lasts about 3.5 hours and is just packed with history, facts and entertainment. The amount of people is limited to 10 on each tour, so my best advise is to get in early and BOOK NOW!!
On our next visit, we will go on some other tours that Chris leads. Thanks for a great morning and we look forward to hearing more stories about ice and sorbets in the future.

Many thanks Kieran for a beautiful review albeit you ruined all my prospective Amsterdam clients 😛. It was a really beautiful morning going round Valletta while meeting the people behind the many restaurants, bars, various shops, cafes, nunneries😉 and many other locations we walked through. Bigger thanks to Caroline for closing an eye to your special comments throughout our experience and looking the other way when Etna got visible in the tour.
Beyond all the jokes, was a real pleasure to get to know you both and all others on this amazing day together.
Many thanks
Chris

I would strongly recommend the Valetta Food Tour for anyone who wants to explore the history of Malta's capital city. Our knowledgeable guide Chris mixed the city's history with stops at the many culinary options that Valetta has to offer. Our day started with delicious morning pastries from a street vendor and included coffee in an underground coffee bar, a chocolate tasting and the tour culminated with a multi-course lunch including beer in a historic, family owned restaurant. I would never have found these places on my own. Chris' engaging personality made the day memorable. If you are going to Malta, this tour is not to be missed!

Chris was just a fabulous guide - our little group had the best morning exploring all that Valletta has to offer.
This is amazing value for money, not only because of the tonne of food you get to try (I wish I could have eaten more!) but Chris has such a wealth of knowledge about the city that you just never would have known otherwise.
I would throughly recommend anyone looking to have an authentic and intimate small group experience - thanks again Chris!

We booked the food tour and are happy to review this event. The guide Christian was fantastic and took the time to explain many of the historical details of the buildings and events that have shaped Valletta into the wonderful city it is. We highly recommend booking this tour as the food was amazing but the guide and his shared knowledge made it even better.

Chris, our guide was great from the very start. He wade the group feel at ease with each other by way of introductions, where they came from and what they did for a living. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history and origin of the food we were tasting as well as the landmarks in the city. He was also very caring and concerned about the welfare of the group at all times and made himself available to be contacted at any time on any matter. Best tour guide on our visit to Malta 😊

You couldn’t buy all of the food you will receive for this insanely low price. Chris is an exceptionally knowledgeable guide and will give you an awesome overview of the capital city while delighting the senses with an over the top array of food and drink from his proprietor friends throughout the city. What an outstanding way to spend a few hours. Cannot recommend enough.

A MUST DO TOUR! We did this food tour on the 1st day of our holiday in Malta, which we originally found through Trip Advisor based on the great feedback. It lived up to all expectations and so much more! From booking online right through to the communications on where to meet etc. everything was perfectly organised. Our tour guide Chris was such a warm and welcoming person, we felt at ease right from the start. The group is limited to a max of 10 people which was brilliant, and it felt more personal. Fantastic icebreaker at the start, Chris took time to let everyone introduce themselves to the group and made a point of remembering names and a bit about everyone which he then used to engage the group throughout the tour. Chris was really knowledgeable and the history and culture he shared was excellent and very engaging. The individual food and drink experiences were brilliant with Chris sharing all the history and the stories behind them, some of them were truly unique. The only disappointment was that we couldn’t book onto Chris’ other tours as they were already fully subscribed. This tour left us on a high and left us wanting more. The tour set us up for the rest of the holiday. Thanks for a great day out, we will highly recommend this to our friends.
