About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Dierregi0 contributionsSo and so tour on old, overcrowded busOur pick-up place was in San Anton conveniently just outside our hotel, albeit with a trashbag littering the street corner of the pick-up point. Unfortunately, the bus was very crowded and I had to stand for a while. Luckily lots of people got off after a couple of stops and then I could sit down and listen to the guide with my headphones. It’s a long and comprehensive tour that lasts three hours - if you don’t get off - with stops to some interesting locations like Mdina. Good way to see a lot in a relatively short time. We paid 25€ per person and it's overpriced for the old, dirty bus and the overcrowding. Besides you can get to most of the stops in the tour by public transport for 2€. Beware that the public transport schedule is also very sparse, especially during the weekend.Written 9 January 2025
- Dierregi0 contributionsWorth a shotMost interesting cruise in the two bays surrounding Valletta. It’s a 90-minute tour and you have a chance to see the densely built bay area, the historical Valletta from the sea, the more industrial dockyards and the modern - and ugly - skyscrapers of Silema. As we took the cruise in January it wasn't crowded or too hot, but I guess it may get both in summer.Written 9 January 2025
- 169dsg0 contributionsDissapointing. Each stop is a 1 hour wait until the next stop which we found inconvenient. The commentary is sparse and we found the experience disappointing. On 02.02.25 we got off the bus at Mdina Glass. The bus company's leaflet states it is a 15 minute stop, however as the bus was running late we were told we had just 8 minutes until the bus was leaving, which was not enough time. We would not use this service again, the normal buses are much more frequent, convenient, and better value.Written 4 January 2025
- Spunge_100 contributionsHorror in MaltaWe are a famaily of five, kids ranging from 8-13. We got the tickets for both North and South tour. This Northern tour was a disaster. Don’t recommend to anyone. The bus was over packed for the first half of the trip. The driver was driving unsafely the first half of the trip. About half way he accelerated into a queue of cars and rammed the pick-up in front of the bus. After the incident the driver didn’t check the passengers or announce anything. He stopped the bus in the middle of the street for 30 minutes without notifying the passengers. We continued the ride until our hotel stop and requested money back for the following day tour of the south as we felt unsafe and didn’t want to use the tickets. The “boss” spoke to us on the phone and behaved rudely and didn’t accept our request. I would recommend to avoid this company and tour: unsafe and rude service.Written 28 December 2024
- woodielisa0 contributionsGreat company - nice modern bus - friendly staffWe were impressed with the nice modern open top bus that we hopped on - a big cut above some of the tatty vehicles we had seen other companies using. The route was interesting and we got spectacular views from the tok deck. We messed up our timings - entirely our own fault - so we missed the departure time for the harbour cruise but I'm sure that would have been equally as good. The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating and made us feel very welcome. I would highly recommend this company.Written 19 December 2024

- 487agneg0 contributionsAvoid the “I See Malta” hop-on hop-off bus. It’s a waste of time.Avoid the “I See Malta” hop-on hop-off bus. It’s a waste of time. It’s delayed by 15 to 20 minutes at each stop, and at the Mdina stop, the bus didn’t even arrive on time. The next one came only after 1 hour and 10 minutes, also delayed. It doesn’t stop at all the stops where it’s supposed to, and it’s often unclear which stop is next. We took the north route - a disaster! I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone; it’s a waste of both time and money. We saw and did more by taking a taxi instead.Written 1 November 2024

- Sightseer217780540920 contributions2 day ticket better if you have time.Overpriced re ally, need to be on top deck , very busy crammed buses. Impossible to do everything you want in 1 day ticket...we managed 2 stops, and used last bus back...buy 2 day pass its a bit cheaper, good way to see the island inside seats not so good for viewing .Written 31 October 2024
- DFla0 contributionsWaste of time and money! What a waste of time and money! Basically just an overpriced bus transfer to the major cities of Valletta, Mdina, etc. wasn’t given headphone till half way through the trip, driver was rude. Wait is approx 40 mins at each transfer and pickup spot even if there is a bus there. Save you money and patience and Uber to where you want to go in Malta!Written 31 October 2024
- seaMsea0 contributionsAWFUL (surely not another bad review)Regrettably this hop on hop off trip is HUGELY disappointing, shockingly disorganised and far from value for money... A delightful rep visited us at our hotel and hard sold these trips to us and we were sucked in. With hindsight, I can tell she was under pressure to get sales over the line rather than match the customer to the ideal trip. The trip provided us with a pick up from the front of our hotel to Slima where we would join the north blue line bus. The first bus due at 840am did not arrive to collect us. The second bus (which was late) collected us at 10am. Despite being late the driver drove us to an urban backstreet on route to Slima to have a secret cigarette break (madness). We didn't actually start our hop on trip until 12pm and had to be very selective as to which points of interest to go to by this point; the route of the trip is long so we could only accommodate for 2x 1hr stops by this point in the day. We got to Mdina (which is lovely) at 1315, meaning we were on a double decker bus for 3hrs before reaping anything meaningful out of the trip. Please note, our six year old daughter was climbing the walls with boredom throughout, plus there are zero toilet stops /breaks offered on the trip. Also, as we stepped off the bus at Mdina, the bus driver was having an argument with another customer claiming that the tour company would fine him if he allowed people to eat food on his bus!! We only managed one other stop, Golden Bay (which is quite average). At this point in the journey we decided to sack off the hop on bus and just took an Uber back to our hotel. Honestly speaking, getting a taxi around to the points of interest would have been easier and much more value for money. Amanda, feel free to reply to this message with a hollow an insincere apology, but let's face it, with the value of negative reviews, perhaps it's time to question why these tours as so poorly received. Better communication between sales rep and customer is required. Consider updating the routes and offering smaller packages. There is a lot of urban inner city travel between sites. It would be better to have greater frequency of bus and possibly a personal tour guide on the bus or even at the sites of interest. We were also sold the Gozo trip, but chose to sack this off given our experience of the north trip and poor reviews (which we read after). Hopefully you are able to make much needed improvements to your tour operation for 2025. I think Malta has a lot to offer, but unfortunately we missed most of it as we were stuck on a bus in traffic all day.Written 26 October 2024
- michellebG333JG0 contributionsMost popular sights included however need more buses at busy times and headphones to workPlenty of sights within the tour , headphones not working, driver informed he said he knew, very busy almost fighting to get a seat on it ,almost afraid to get off in case there were no seats when you wanted to get on.Service was 1 hourly pick ups , so if there weren't any seats you would have another hour to wait, poor pick up point in Medina right beside the horse and carriages.Written 26 October 2024
- UncleSamNZ0 contributionsMalta - with extreme disappointments! This is one of the worst touring HopOn/HopOff bus groups we’ve ever encountered. Virtually no information beyond buying the ticket!, buses that were not cleaned, run down, torn seats, drivers with total disinterest in passengers, arrogance with cancillations, “someone else’s problem”! Quite honestly you should look elsewhere for any other tour or get in line for continuous frustrations! And added to this - this is operated by “Grey-Line”! Huge disappointments all around! We started the tour by getting on the bus in Balluta Bay and were not informed that the tour doesn’t actually start until you get to the ferry port in Sliema. The tour spends a lot of time in the countryside driving around rather than bringing you around Valletta or Vittoriosa and visiting the sites as you would hope. It is a very long tour to take with young kids as well. It does visit a couple of beautiful spots such as the blue grotto and marsaxlokk fishing village but you would probably be better taking a taxi or some other form of transport to these locations yourself. I have used the hop on hop off bus tour in many cities which have been very informative and a great guide to the city but i did not find this one did the same.

Tickets were €23 for one route - we tried to get the first bus which was supposed to be at 8.30am, however it didn't turn up for an hour. The rep at the bus stop didn't seek to know what was happening/why it was late. The buses were dated, with ripped seats etc., and the audio was delayed, with the information not being relayed until well after we had passed the place. We hopped off in several places and the buses were supposed to be every half hour, however one bus didnt turn up and another was late. Moreover, many of the sights we wanted to see (e.g. the Inquisitor's Palace, the Hagar Qim Temples), were closed. I realise that opening times are not controlled by the tour companies, however when museums are closed for 3 days a week, the tour should make it clear that these stops aren't possible. All in all, for the price, I was left disappointed.

Malta has a lot to offer with a great history and many places to see. But the hop on hop off service is not good. There is no ac on the bus and it can get very hot. The drivers arrive early in the station and they don’t wait till the time that supposed to leave. If you miss the bus, the next one is in 1 hour. No great service at all and drivers are not helpful. You can take Malta public bus instead, cheap and they have ac and they go to all the places you want to visit. Also if you want to go inside places, you have to book them online and it’s very little ability

Good Day Eve
Thank you for the very insightful review, all our coaches run on a schedule as does the public busses, as you are well aware being in Malta you would have seen how tight our roads are and no busses will wait as traffic would come to a standstill.
As for the AC you are correct public busses have them almost all busses in malta with a Roof has them, unfortunately it is impossible to air condition an OPEN top bus.

Very bad Service!!
I’m the morning We were waiting almost one hour compare with time that they say bus pass.
Later they left us in Valletta and says pick up every hour in same places that Bus left. We were waiting around 30 minutes in that place after the hour, however when Red Bus stopped 20 meters before the place they left and they did not wait one minute and left. Driver was watching us with our bags and did not stopped. He did not want it!
Additionally Many speakers into the buses were damaged…
I strongly recommend to better rent a car in Malta is cheaper and you do not loose your time waiting this tourism buses and suffering because very bad service. They do not care about tourism service.

We were staying in Bugibba, in the north so decided to do the south tour. We did Malta Sightseeing rather than City sightseeing just because we came across the booking kiosk first. We were told we could get one of 3 morning open top buses straight through from Bugibba to start the tour at Sliema and we would get a minibus back running at 3pm 4pm and 6pm.
We were more interested in having a relaxing time seeing the sights rather than hopping on and off but did decide to get off at the fishing village of Marsaxlokk. About half way through the tour the driver announced a 10 minute stop for a comfort break and the opportunity to buy snacks and drinks at a little bar/restaurant/ shop. We bought 2 soft drinks and crisps but wish we jad waited as about 10 minutes after this we arrived at the fish6village!
There was a little market on the harbour which provided some welcome shade as a heatwave had hit Malta along with the rest of southern Europe. After browsing the usual tourist bits for sale, we crossed over and found a little food bar called "Sphinx" where my husband bought a good sized serving of rice Bolognese for only €3! He had an apple pie after for €1.50 and enjyed both. I had fruit juice for a reasonable €1.50. The next tour bus was 10 minutes later than we were told but not too bad a wait. When we arrived back at Sliema it was a bit confusing as to what minibus it was but eventually got on one about 3.15.
The drivers were all very pleasant and the minibus driver asked where we would like to be dropped off.
The recorded commentary was in a lot of different languages and you are given free headphones to use and keep. It was the standard commentary not always in time with where you were but not a real issue.
It lasted, with the one stop that we did, around 5 hours but if you don't get off at all it's about 3 hours long.

Our first trip to Malta, originally booked in 2019. Although the buses are not the most comfortable the staff are extremely helpful and pleasant. My Husband lost his wallet on the bus, {it must have fallen out of his pocket} we contacted the company and the manager sent a WhatsApp photo to check it was the correct wallet. Once we had confirmed it was, we were told what time the bus would be outside our hotel on that day, given information about the driver's name and bus registration and the wallet was returned complete with all the money. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour around the Island

If you are a first-timer to Malta, the hop-on hop-off tours are a good way to see many places on the island, but:
It takes about 3 hours to do just one loop, so be prepared to spend a lot of time on the bus. The audio guides on each seat are quite informative but as everywhere, the free provided cheap, low quality headphones are really bad making the audio sound worse than it is. Simple solution: bring your own !
We started our tour in Marsaxlokk but had no idea where the bus would stop. Many bus stops have no indication that the Hopon/off buses stop there. So we asked several locals to give us a hint. Even the customer service was unable th provide the correct bus stop. So we waited at the wrong bus stop and missed the bus and waited an extra hour as the buses go only about very hour.
If you know where to go, there are faster options, Local transportation (combined with google maps on your phone) are an inexpensive way to get around, but still it takes a lot of time.
Your fastest option is to use a taxi. They are not too expensive. We used eCabs, which is more or less the same as UBER. Fixed rates, no hassle with payment to the driver, the rides are automatically taken from your account. In our case there was no issues with the credit card. Each ride was billed correctly.

Good Afternoon
Thank you for the feedback regarding our Hop on Hop off tour.
Our headphones which are provided on board are not like the ones you get with your expensive mobile devices, as im sure you can understand these are for one time use only due to hygiene regulation's set out by local authorities.
We would recommend if you have your own to use them, however our headphones do work well.
We do have detailed maps and Brochures on all our coaches with the routes and stops clearly marked on them as well as the frequency at which the coaches come to each point.
We thank you once again for your insightful feedback, and will ensure that all coaches are stocked with the maps and timetables.

We booked with Rami who has a stall opposite Preluna Hotel in Sliema. He did us a great deal for 2 bus tours (North and south) and the harbour cruise (35 each). We really enjoyed all 3, great value for the time you spend and captures everything you need to see. Buses all on time. Commentary interesting on all. Defo get off at Golden Bay on the North tour, its lovely. Mdina is amazing. On the South, we loved Marseloxx and of course Valletta. Harbour cruise was a small ish boat but really good trip. Malta is lovely.

POOR to say the least. Buses NOT running to timetable so stood 40min in 38degree heat. Got on at Harbour, Ticket sellers NOT polite, v pushy and promised buses in 5mins . . . Took the Southern Route as it was the 1st to arrive. Got off at Blue Lagoon as we'd had enough of winding around the airport area. Randomly stopped at a Cafe for 10 mins, NOT on the itinerary, Scorching and wanted to keep moving but driver wasn't having it, he was having a Drink with friend (!). Blue Lagoon Lovely, Appeared again for the next Bus after an hour "Sorry wrong company it will be her in 5 mins" 40 mins later it appeared !!! Seriously Shabby. Wish we'de gone to Medina but not with this company.

This is the worse Hop On Hop Off I took in our 11 days cruise port and 4 cities visit in Europe, May 21 to June 8th 2022. Our Visit to Valetta Port on May 26th 2022. Before buying the Hop On Hop Off tickets we were informed that the bus is on a 30 minutes stop schedules. On the 2 stops at Mosta, Mdina, we waited in excess of 1.40 minutes for both stops which ruined our short sightseeing day in port.
So all in, we waited 3 hours and 20 minutes just waiting for your Hop On Hop Off bus which ruined our sightseeing on May 26th 2022, on top of the long line to get into the bus !!
Horrible !! Don't trust this company in Valetta Malta, You will be spending all your time waiting for the bus then sightseeing
