About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Voyage250749654210 contributionsHallstatt private tourMichael Toth with Salzburg Private Tours was absolutely AMAZING! He was incredibly knowledgeable and so very kind. He answered all of our questions and shared so many great details. You can tell he loves meeting new people and sharing the history of the region. Despite snowy weather this morning making it hard to see the lakes he helped make things enjoyable. He even gave us recommendations for dinner in Salzburg which were fantastic! Would love to tour with Michael again!Written 20 November 2024
- L1008EQjonathanl0 contributionsThe Happiest Tour In All The World! A Must for Sound of Music fans!I was quite pleased with the courtesy and flexibility Carlos granted me throughout this epic "Sound of Music" tour in Salzburg and environs. Carlos picked me up at my hotel on time and expertly guided me from Nonnberg Abbey until the finale at the Mirabell Gardens. The highlights were taking me to Marketshellenberg, Mehlweg; Rossfeld, Werfen; a stop by Mondsee where Maria and children rode bikes as featured in Do-Re-Mi; Mondsee Cathedral, etc. A full 8 hour tour made me The Happiest Man In All the World! You will not be disappointed in this tour!Written 16 November 2024
- joellenc100 contributionsUnbelievable Experience!I don’t even know where to start! We booked a private tour to Hallstatt with Viator. Our driver/tour guide Michael Toth was beyond fantastic! The itinerary was just perfect and he customized the stops based on our preferences. He was so knowledgeable, friendly and funny! He gave us recommendations for things to do after our tour as well that were spot on. We had a wonderful lunch in Hallstatt (an adorable town) with the perfect table right in the water thanks to Michael! If five stars Is the top rating I give this tour and Michael a 10! Worth every penny!Written 9 October 2024

He told us stories of the region, history of Austria, other travel stories, and shared the culture of the Upper Austria region with us. He also tailored our adventure through the Lakes Region for our family and the weather. He knew some secret places for us to venture that saved us time to make the most out of the trip. We plan to connect with Carlos again to adventure through the region during Christmas time!Written 9 August 2024
- Anita K0 contributionsHighest recommendation I can give. This is the tour for you! This was one of the best tours we have had on all of our travels. Our guide was knowledgeable, fun and friendly. He answered questions and provided us with information that you wouldn’t find with just the informational plaques. He was able to give us some tips and tricks to get the most out of our experience. Honestly if I could have Carlos as a guide for all the activities we’ve been on that would be great. He was a great guide and genuinely seemed to care in providing proper information and guidance in understanding the nuances involved in the history of Salzburg. I cannot recommend this tour more.Written 6 August 2024

- jennyeQ4559SA0 contributionsSalzburg Private Tours and Carols Make the Experience! Worth Every Penny! My parents (72 y.o) and myself (40 y.o) stopped over in Salzburg for a few days after several days of travel from France and Germany. With some forethought we had determined that we would likely be tired by this point in the trip and had considered that a private tour may be worth the money to tour the remaining areas of Bavaria and to see Eagles Nest, without the hassle of all of the unknowns associated with independent travel. Words cannot express how good this tour was. Carlos was our tour guide and he was FABULOUS. He arrived at our hotel prior to us meeting him in the lobby. He had a very clean, new and well equipped Mercedes van that we then loaded. He was extraordinarily knowledgeable about the history of Salzburg and Eagles Nest and worked with us to determine the itinerary specific to the interests and ability levels of our little group. Weather was up in the air during our tour, with clouds moving in and a chance of rain. We opted, based on his suggestions, to reorder the trip according to forecast to optimize chances of better views and less time in the rain. He predicted everything perfectly. We stood in no lines, he facilitated ticket purchases, and the timing was impeccable. Carols has profound knowledge of the Eagles Nest and history surrounding the multiple sights we were able to see and he was very assertive in getting us the best experience possible. Hands down I would recommend this private tour as it amplifies your experience and exposure to the history/facts of the surrounding areas and attractions while simultaneously reducing stress and fatigue that naturally arise when traveling in unknown regions where variables such as crowds, lines, weather and language barriers are at play. Salzburg private tours does not disappoint! Request Carlos -- he is fabulous!Written 25 July 2024

On our way from Munich to Vienna we decided to stop in Salzburg to see Hallstatt. Carlos picked us up at the train station and whisked us off on a 6 hour tour. We drove through Salzburg and did a quick walk around before heading to Hallstatt. Carlos was fantastic and gave us lots of information on the history of the areas we were driving through. We made a few stops along the way to take photos and then ended up in beautiful Hallstatt. He walked us around a bit and then let us go off on our own to explore and have lunch. He met us at the other end of town, took some more photos and then we headed back to the train station. He took a different route back so we got to see more of the beautiful country and we even made a quick Sound of Music stop on our way. I was hesitant to make this quick stop on our trip because obviously Salzburg and the surrounding area deserves more than just 6 hours, but I am so glad we did. It was a great overview of a beautiful area and we are eager to return one day.
