- TheAngeloS0 contributionsTraditional Austrian Dinner and a Folk ShowWe purchased the VIP tickets which provides a nice three course meal within the "restaurant" area (you can eat at your seats in the show area without the VIP tickets) that also included a bier or a glass of wine. The meal was excellent, well paced, and the apfel strudel for dessert was excellent. Once you are finished with your meal, you are escorted into the VIP section which is the center three rows of tables in the center front of the stage. From there, you can enjoy a close-up view of the performers in traditional dress dancing, yodeling, playing of traditional instruments, singing, playing of alpine horns and the encore tribute to the audience. The entire performance staff made for an entertaining and interesting evening. This is about a two hour show with a short intermission. The stage is raised upmaking it visible from anywhere within the space. Large bus groups are in the back of the room. Wait staff is very friendly and help to keep refreshments flowing.Written 17 October 2024

Very nice show and worth the detour: musicians, dancers, singers take turns on stage for 1h30. Everyone is in local costume, and we attend multiple dances and demonstrations.
In particular the men who dance on different themes (lumberjacks, stonecutter etc…) but especially the shuhplattler in which the dancer performs a series of jumps to the rhythm of the music: he slaps himself on the legs, knees and feet all by stamping your feet to the point of lifting one leg in the air as high as possible (almost like the French cancan).
Of course we are entitled to yodeling, demonstrations of all kinds of musical instruments: alphorns with their long tails 2 to 3 meters long, the cimbalom, a kind of zither, the German zither, a kind of guitar but with more strings and played flat, the musical saw, bells etc. they manage to set the mood in a good mood. Everything is very happy
The VIP supplement allows you to be placed in the first rows, which is appreciable.
On the other hand, and even if it ultimately did not spoil our evening, dinner should be avoided: the tables are like in a corridor leading to the room where the show takes place, and through which the spectators pass, who therefore dive on your plates….not very pleasant. The starter (some raw vegetables) is already laid out at our table... as soon as it is finished, a soup arrives (not bad), then immediately a "typically Tyrolean" dish if we are to believe the website: 2 slices of pork with a kind of mixed vegetables - it's not fancy and to be honest, quite ordinary; and finally dessert: an apfelstrudel whose dough is not really fresh!!!… all in 30 minutes flat. The whole thing is very disappointing, knowing also that the show only starts an hour later and we have to wait without having anything else to do than look each other in the eye!
Conclusion: I suggest attending the show which is worth the trip without dining there.

We thoroughly enjoyed the show. It was very professional and the enthusiasm of the performers was infectious and the full-house audience entered into the spirit of things to make for a lively evening. We opted in for the meal during the performance which turned out to be a bonus as we were given front row seats, although the view from anywhere would be okay. The meal was alright, but nothing special.

What a delightful show. This is the second time I have seen this show and I just loved it. The performers are so talented and they obviously really love entertaining guests. And the staff couldn't be more helpful or friendly. The one thing that really impressed me was that I was actually able to talk with some of the performers. I play classical guitar but have always been fascinated by the zither, an instrument that was played during the show. I asked the woman who played it if I could take a look at it. She was kind enough to bring it to our table and tell me all about it. I thought that was so thoughtful. Absolutely wonderful experience.

Our tour group visited the Tiroler Ensemble Geschwister Gundolf as part of the tour.
We enjoyed the Austrian/German costumes, yodeling, songs and dancing of the performers. What energy they have. Though we were familiar with traditional polkas, they performed some interesting dances (slap dancing) and music using saws and hammers, that were unique and interesting. The show ticket that we had included a beer, wine or other beverage.
It was a fun evening of entertainment.

Went to this with my son to experience a proper Tyrolean evening. First impressions were very disappointing as it's situated in a slightly dodgy, industrial area next to a strip club! The building felt like a disused office block and the 'restaurant' was a real let down with poor attempts at authenticity but lacked atmosphere and felt very fake. It had so much potential but just felt tacky, and sadly the food was pretty inedible! However, the staff were all really friendly and the service was good. The show totally made up for it though, as we were lead into a large hall with a big stage. It was quite kitsch but really entertaining with a brilliant mix of Austrian dancing, Woodcutters song, yodelling, someone playing a saw and traditional horn music. The highlight was a wonderful woman who not only yodelled brilliantly but imitated a cow with perfection - she stole the show! It was fully booked with an enthusiastic audience from all over the world making it a fun atmosphere. I highly recommend the show, but wouldn't waste your money on the dinner - better to go for a nicer meal in town then go on to the show.

This night was so much fun. From the quirky local food for dinner to the funny and wild variety of instruments played by the many different performers. They even sung a song from every country in the audience to make us all feel included. Worth every cent paid for the night, loved it all.

We attended the show and included dinner. We enjoyed both!! Note: this is truly a folkloric type performance that showcases Tyrolean dances and musical instruments. The uniqueness is what was most appealing. The dinner was good, not 5 star cuisine but a solid traditional meal.

We enjoyed watching these amazing musicians. We also learned about the traditional Musical instruments and Folk music while being entertained. We opted for the meal ahead of time to get the full experience. There was an additional cost for the meal, but it was worth it!

The evening with the multi generational Gundolf Tyrolean family was an absolute hoot! So much fun from start to finish and so many highlights. The woodchopping dance was great. It was a journey through the traditional music of Austria and culminated with some audience participation at the end.
A nice pint of beer is included in the price.
Highly recommended for a fun night out in Innsbruck.

We wanted to eat dinner on our own, so we only came for the show. It was so charming. This was my teen daughter's first trip Austria (we have Austrian heritage) and she just loved this. The next day she wanted to buy a dirndl! It's a sweet show that gives you a lovely taste of the music and dancing of this alpine region.

Do you only collect from hotels in Innsbruck or do you collect from outside the town? We will be staying in Saalbach am Hinterglemm and would love to see the show!
Written 29 June 2019
I am a little confused. When it says transfers, does it only mean transfer from your hotel in Innsbruck or do they pick up from further afield? We will be staying in Saalbach am Hinterglemm and would love to see this show.
Written 29 June 2019
This means from your accommodation in Innsbruck. When booking tickets for the show there are several options available so the price variations will reflect what options you choose and wish to pay for. Just need to read through their ticket choices.
Written 3 July 2019
Is it possible to include transfers if we are not staying in a hotel?
Written 27 May 2019
is it possible to see the show in English or is it entirely in German?
Written 13 May 2019
We only speak English; I think we got both translations?? Sorry cant remember as our holiday was a whirlwind. But having said that we did understand all that was happening and said. A lovely enjoyable evening.
