Low Price Guarantee
Exploring the Arctic wilderness alone can be challenging. Take the worry out of finding transportation and the correct equipment on this tour from Tromso. Start with pickup from the city center and journey to Kvaloya (or "Whale Island"), where you strap on provided snowshoes and hike into a winter wonderland of snow-covered mountains and forest. Along the way, warm up with a traditional Norwegian snack.
What to Expect
Your tour begins with a pickup from a centrally located meeting point in Tromso. Meet your guide and settle into the vehicle for the drive to your destination.
Upon arrival on Kvaloya, at a location selected taking into consideration weather and snow conditions, listen as your guide gives a brief demonstration on how to use the snowshoes.
Once you are familiar and comfortable with the equipment, strap on your snowshoes, grab your hiking poles, and set out with the rest of your group.
Following your guide, hike to one of the island's summits, surrounded by great views over majestic mountains and fiords. Make a few stops along the way; get insight from your guide about the Arctic landscape, and enjoy a traditional taste of Norway with a hot drink and lefse (cake).
Afterward, your tour concludes with a drop-off back at the original departure point.

A strenuous climb but worth it for the view from the top

A scenic drive led to the start of the snow shoe climb of 300 metres. There was no warm up to get used to the shoes but a gradual then quite steep climb to a summit with wonderful views over a fjord and frozen lake....More

Breath taking

Hiked up a mountain 525m above sea level using snow shoes, it was hard work for me, but amazing, the views at the peak were nothing I could have expected and our guide Sascha was knowledgeable and motivating.
