Ahoy mate! Hermes 2 is calling you!
I love it! Totally no clue what to expect. Only saw the offering when I walked past the shop. The team, led by Trulst(sp.. Sorry!) was very customer oriented. They saw to our needs and I cld tell they have high level of safety precautions in place. The wildlife sighting was cool, the history and stories about Tromso(WW2, Hermes) were even better. Great activity!

Amazing historic tour with Hermes II and crew - must try!!
We took the History Fjord Cruise with Hermes II and we had a fantastic time! The tour took 2,5 hours and the weather was also in our favor, beautiful sunshine and clear sky! The crew of the ship was very-very friendly, we spotted some harbour seals and eagles on our way, and we could even go to the captain' cabin and try to wheel the ship!! The whole experience couldn't have been better, the crew was fantastic, they were very eager to show us everything and to let us know about the 107 year-old ship's history! On the way we had a nice cup of blackcurrant juice (or coffee/tea) and a hot fish pie! I would absolutely recommend this tour as it was heartwarming to hear the stories from the crew who live and die for their local environment and made sure everyone feels safe and satisfied with the tour!

The cruise was a fantastic combination of history, nature and just relaxing. Great crew! You really made us feel comfortable in that beautiful old ship.

Great activity while visiting the city
My husband and I did the 1 hour trip. There was only one other couple on the boat so it felt like a private excursion. The guides were really friendly and knowledgeable about Tromsø and the surrounding areas. It was a perfect mix of scenery and history. The boat is beautiful too! Highly recommend.

Bucket list trip on a beautiful craft
The highlight of our holiday so far. The crew of Hermes II were obviously engaged in a labour of love in looking after and restoring such a beautiful craft to its full glory. We spent a comfortable, enjoyable, informative, engaging and fun hour with guys who took the time to explain the history of the boat and of the harbour. We booked following a recommendation from previous guests and we would definitely recommend this trip and boat to anyone lucky enough to find themselves in Tromso.

      Absolutely Incredible. Humorous Staff
Absolutely incredible. Some of the best views of my trip. Once we set off, around 20 minutes later we saw dolphins, then around 20 minutes later we saw seals! The crew are unbelievably friendly and have brilliant humor, they even let people into the cockpit and steer the boat! (Once again the captain was super friendly.) Once we came back down from the cockpit we were handed out fish cakes with tasted incredibly good, and the hot chocolate was also super good. Once we were coming back to Tromsø the crew invited us to be told all about the boats history (which I didn’t know a boat could have so much of a backstory.)

Hermes II - the best ship and crew!!
The ship is beautiful and historic and I knew I wanted to go on it when I saw it. To my surprise, Hermes II also had the best team I have ever experienced on a tour and I have done many all over the world. Each and every crew member, including the captain, had a real conversation with me sharing their experiences and asking about mine. They ensured every passenger was comfortable and enjoying the trip. They searched out wildlife and provided historical information. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon in Tromso. I highly recommend it!

Great way to spend a couple of hours seeing Tromso from a different perspective.
Really enjoyed the trip. The Hermes II team were super helpful and very knowledgeable. The team were interesting and attentive. The boat was clean, toilets spotless, drinks plentiful. Options to get warm, and there were arctic suits if needed, which I used. They were clean and very warm. Staff could not have been more helpful. Very friendly. Highly recommend as a way to see around Tromso and learn a bit about the history.

      Breathtaking scenery
The scenery was stunning; we saw snowy mountains, seals, eagles and even jet fighters! The crew were great - the talks were interesting, they were friendly and realy knew how to look after the visitors. If you don’t bring warm enough kit, they’ll give you a hot drink and a thermal suit, and you can just carry on. If you go with young children, then perhaps have a backup entertainment option for them, as the crew are happy for them to sit downstairs.

      Great boat trip
The crew on the Hermes 2 were very professional. The guide pictured was especially welcoming and humorous. They told us about the areas around the fjord in both summer and winter. Any questions we had They answered. Sometimes they gathered the whole ship to tell their stories and other times they spoke to individuals. There wasn't a time when I saw any of them just stood around. They were also very attentive with drinks, frequently asking if we needed a top up of blackcurrant or tea. We drove through the fjords which had great weather on leaving tromso but the snow began to pick up as we drove further out. This was a different experience and the warm blackcurrant was much needed at this point. They have an inside part to the boat but we spent the majority of the journey outside enjoying the elements. At one point we drove past some seals all huddled on a rock which was pretty cool. Take warm clothes although they do have suits for people to wear who are slightly more unprepared.

      Forever Grateful
On Thursday 4th January 2024 we came across Hermes II due to a dilemma caused by another Whale watching Company. Our 4 day trip to Tromso was for my 40th Birthday and a trip that had been arranged for 18 months with the highlight being Whale watching…. The night before our original trip we went to look at the meeting place in the harbour where we were advised to be at for 8:30am on the Thursday Morning. We arrived early on the day and strangely no boat could be seen……. We asked around the Harbour and showed the documentation to one particular Boat Captain who was puzzled as the boat for the original company wasn’t there?! We went to the Hermes II shop where we contacted the original company and it turned out that the information provided was wrong and their Boat had already departed at 8am. What happened next and throughout that day was incredible and some of the finest customer service we have ever had. Luckily the Captain that we spoke to was the Captain of the Jib for Hermes who allowed us to join them! The trip overall was outstanding and even if it was alittle more expensive, the experience was exceptional on a VERY quick Boat. Upon arrival to the Whale feeding grounds after 80 minutes travel we were greeted with Fin Whales and Humpback. The crew provided on awesome experience, their knowledge and enthusiasm was infectious which rescued our initial poor start! On arrival back to the shop at the end of the trip, we were reassured that they had contacted our travel company and the company who let us down and they were dealing with the monies and grievance. Never have we been so grateful to the guys on the Jib and those in the shop for rescuing our trip!

My wife, 5 year old son and myself went on the fishing trip in February 2024 and we all had a great time.

The three crew on board were all really friendly, informative and we had a good laugh with them all during our trip. They were particularly good with our son, explaining things, joking with him and showing him photos taken from previous trips. My son really enjoyed the trip and learnt where fish fingers come from!

My wife usually suffers from seasickness and was a little worried before getting on the boat. Fortunately the conditions on the day were really nice, with blue skies and calm seas which helped. But as the boat operates within the shelter of the surrounding islands, I can't imagine it gets too rocky out there, well at least not as bad as the open seas.

When getting onboard, ewe were offered cold weather clothing. But as we were already well wrapped up we didn't need this. We didn't feel cold at any point of the cruise. But in the event conditions are colder there is a heated below deck cabin you can sit in (where lunch is served). There are two proper flush toilets on board as well.

Catching fish on a fishing trip is always in the lap of the gods, so you have to go with the mindset that you might not catch anything. But fortunately the fish were playing ball and we all caught a few fish. My son caught 3 cod, my wife caught 2 cod and another fish (lira?) And I caught 2 cod and also a plaice - which apparently is a rarity for the boat.

We spent some time on the bridge chatting with the captain and my son particularly enjoyed being allowed to steer the boat! The captain was showing us the navigation screens and also the sonar used to help detect where the shoals of fish were, to increase our chances of catching.

The crew then filleted the fish and cooked some up for us. It was so tasty. You can't get any fresher than that! We were also given fish cakes and offered hot drinks - both included with the package.

After lunch we cruised along one side of the fjord and we're lucky enough to see a white tailed eagle up close. The scenery in the area is stunning!

Overall it was a great experience and one I'd recommend to anyone visiting Tromsø. The boat is very safe and with relatively high sides, there's no chance a child can fall in (which is no doubt a concern for any parent thinking of booking this trip).

Absolutely fantastic trip on Hermes II. The boat is beautifully restored and has a really interesting history, the crew are so friendly and welcoming and the scenery is just wonderful. We had a half day fishing trip, the skipper found us plenty of fish to catch, some pretty big cod and haddock and even a wolf fish! The crew then cooked it for us…there’s nothing tastier! I’d recommend this trip for fishers and for those who just want to enjoy a boat trip out of Tromso…well worth every krone!

We stayed in Tromso for 10 days. We booked 3 seperate fishing trips throughout the 10 days along with other adventures, Hermes 2 being the 1st on Tue 12th Dec. Its fair to say we did THE BEST fishing trip of our time in Tromso on this day on Hermes 2. The Crew were superb. We moved about following the fish throughout the trip, going far out into the lake, unlike other trips. Our trip caught 3-4 times more fish than the other 2 trips we went on. One of the fish my son caught was a great cod and the crew gutted it in front of us as we watched it go in the pan - no pre frozen fish like one of the trips we went on!! The fish was superb to eat. You could watch the sonar screen below in the galley, seeing what the captain saw. This was the only trip to stop and attract the wild eagles and we got to video it diving for fish.
If you are looking for a fishing trip whilst in Tromso, THIS IS THE ONE TO CHOSE. You will not be disappointed. Thankyou for the experience Hermes 2 - sorry it took me so long to post.

One of the best choice I made during trip to Tromø. It was my first time fishing, and everybody on the boat catched the fish including myself. Crew were very friendly, they cook the fish you catched or you can bring it home if you want. Also you can enjoy the fjord view from the boat and it was amazing! Highly recommended:)

An unexpected experience of fishing in the Arctic. Starting from the pier, the scenery along the way is beautiful. The icebergs and plains are all on the way. You can have a panoramic view. The captain is very handsome. The members on the boat are very friendly and will teach everyone how to fish. My grandfather caught 7 fish during the whole trip. , I... caught a t-shirt... Hahahaha, catch and cook immediately using a simple cooking method. I didn’t expect the fish to be really delicious🩷A great experience

When we arrived, Truls, our guide, informed us it would just be us two, but the trip would still continue. We were given a little brief on what the day would be like, plus thermal suits, and a safety demonstration while heading out to sea. We were offered unlimited hot drinks whenever we liked, with home baked cookies. After about 15-20 minutes, we pulled up somewhere and dropped our lines. Straight away we were catching fish, and had three huge cod in minutes, including a 12kg huge fish. We kept at it for a little while, conversing with Truls about Tromsø, fishing, and life. Eventually, because we’d had such a good return straight away, Truls offered to take us across to spot eagles and seals, which we were very interested in. We caught a couple of small fish which we eventually fed to the eagles and had a great time watching them try to catch from the sea. The whole time, Truls was full of conversation and information that kept us hooked in. Eventually, lunch was prepared with our catches, and we were offered to keep as many fillets as we liked. The fresh cooked cod and haddock was perfect with flatbread and Norwegian butter. It was an astounding day, one of the best experiences we could imagine, and we were allowed to keep one print out picture from the trip each.

My first trip was cancelled due to weather and the timely response for the rebooking was without a problem and very quick.

Crew was absolutely incredible. Answered all questions I had about anything and everything Tromso and Norway. Even tho it was what I would consider a small group everyone caught fish. Great trip for someone that wants to experience jig fishing or a first time fishing trip. I honestly can’t say enough about the crew onboard.

I booked the Sunday afternoon tour. Sailed on time at 15.30, greeted by a friendly and professional crew. We were 16 “guests” and if at first the concern was how the 5 hours planned for the tour would have passed, you have to say that we returned without even noticing the past time. In addition to seeing beautiful places and breathing healthy sea air, the real fun is fishing on board, followed by dinner of the catch. Everything beautiful, even the interactions that are created with other passengers. I will definitely return

The tour with the crew of the Hermes 2 was a lot of fun. The young crew is super good . My son caught some cod with the Pilker for the first time. The entire catch is still prepared on board and everyone gets a taste of the freshly caught fish . All in all, the tour on the fjord is highly recommended and worth a repeat.

Truls was the best tour guide you could ask for , he was so kind and enthusiastic about his job , he spotted minke whales for us whilst fishing and even called an eagle down which was spectacular to see, if fishing isn't for you this tour still is, I was in two minds about booking fishing or whale watching but I can assure you hands down I would re do this again and again.i was told they occasionally spot orcas. Honestly If I had more time in Tromso I'd of gone back purely for how involved you are!! Scenery is beautiful , it was cold but not too cold the main part of a fishing trip if you've read this far is that youre wondering if we all caught fish... Of course We all caught fish, my boyfriend caught a COD in seconds 💙 I didn't catch as big fish as I wanted to catch because I'm competitive haha.... but there's always a next time !! I took saithe/Pollock back for my air b&b host. Thankyou again for a wonderful trip ! Xx
