About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- jimfT3806HQ0 contributionsAwesome tourOur cruise ship got diverted due to a strike in France at our terminal port to Isle of Portland. We booked a tour to see the Jurassic coast. Danny was our tour guide and did an awesome job. This was one of our best tours ever. The whole tour was extremely well organized. AAA +Written 27 September 2024
- Explorer493546647880 contributionsGreat service!Spencer was our driver for 3 days. Day 1 - he drove us from our Cotswolds hotel to Bournemouth via Salisbury. Day 2 - was a tour of the Jurassic Coast stopping at Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door & Weymouth. Day 3 - he drove us from Bournemouth all the way to Dover along the coast road stopping in Brighton and at Birling Gap to view the Seven Sisters. Spencer was personable, knowledgeable and open to any requests we might have. We would highly recommend him.Written 25 September 2024
- jenniferpT1971PX0 contributionsGreat Fay in PortlandThis was a VERY LAST MINUTE booking but you would never know it. Our guide Spencer was full of suggestions allowing us to customize our day together. He was extremely knowledgeable and his enthusiasm and good nature were contagious. Would highly recommend.Written 25 September 2024
- networthy0 contributionsGreat value, interesting tour.We had the owner Danny as our driver and guide. He is very witty, a local resident and very interesting to listen to. This was a last minute booking for us and we were very happy we booked. It was great value we definitely recommend it again.Written 24 September 2024
- barbarac430 contributionsGreat day!Due to a strike in France our ship had to divert to Portland, England. I reached out to Dorset Tours to try and book a driver for a day so we could at least see some of the area. They jumped on my request immediately and firmed up the hire- extremely professional and responsive; also instructed us on how best to meet the driver after getting off the ship. Our driver, Spencer, was waiting for us and proceeded to show us a wonderful day- knowing just the right places to see and where to eat. While we missed seeing Normandy, Spencer made our disappointment so much better with a wonderful day. Spencer is quite knowledgeable regarding the area and has a great sense of humor. Highly recommended!Written 23 September 2024
- rebeccacA758VY0 contributionsBeautiful day outWe did the Big 3 tour - Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, and Corfe Castle. The views were spectacular, and our guide Daniel had some really interesting stories to share about the area. In addition to seeing all the sights, we managed to get a couple of walks in the day which rounded it all off. A great day out and would highly recommend! Thanks Sally and Daniel!Written 20 September 2024
- johngW6443VA0 contributionsGreat tourWe travelled along the Jurassic coast as far as Corfe Castle and back from Portland Castle under the excellent guidance of our driver/guide Danny. We were a party of seven and Danny made sure that we saw all the major sights along the way. We even had an additional bonus when he took us to Lulworth Castle. We were well looked after and well informed about what we were seeing. The tour exceeded our expectations. Thank you Danny and the team.Written 14 September 2024
- 184adelineh0 contributionsAmazing Tour and Tour Guide! So Worth it!The scenery and views were amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed the stops we made. We had a great time seeing touristy spot as well ans local areas and towns. But of course it wouldn’t have been half as special without our tour guide, Spencer! He was very considerate and knowledgeable, many times letting us in on the best spots to get pictures, food, and more. He was super flexible and was up for anything we were. He also took awesome photos of us. I had a great time on this tour and made lasting memories.Written 10 September 2024
- W501MUannah0 contributionsAN AMAZING WEEKEND!!This trip was amazing! Our tour guide (Spencer) was so friendly and flexible to everything we wanted to do and see. We got to see so many great sights and the pictures were so good. Between castles, city’s, villages, and beaches we saw and did it all. Our guide gave us so much information on each sight, in history and in guiding us to the best picture spots, shops, and restaurants. He made the trip very memorable and I’d highly recommend to anyone debating on going. Well worth the money!Written 8 September 2024
- K7340PHolivert0 contributionsGreat time with tour guide Danny around Dorset and StonehengeWe planned to go to Stonehenge and Salisbury cathedral. Organisation and tour guide Danny were highly professional and commited. Due to time issues we had to skip Salisbury and Danny proposed some other spots in Dorset area (Durdle Door an Lulworth cove) - that proposal was awesome. Finally we returned after a foto shooting at Wheymouths top of the spot near the prison to our pick up place. Thanks our guide Danny who was a very kind, very narrative and very cosmopol host- we felt always being in best hands.Written 1 September 2024

- Discover5727360 contributionsMemorable experience in stonehengeDanny, our driver is amazing. He is a good and safe driver. He told us interesting stories along the way to Stonehenge and Salisbury. He gives good suggestions on what to do and where to eat. When we arrived at Stonehenge there was a long line to buy the entrance tickets. We pre-bought our tickets on the English Heritage website. Stonehenge is very impressive prelithic monument and Salisbury Cathedral is very beautiful. Dorset tours is very organized.Written 12 August 2024
- audreyk8180 contributionsPricey and DisappointingThis tour was just mediocre, and those booking should be told what is not included. We booked this tour with five other couples from our cruise ship. The excursion is advertised as small group, however, after checking in, we were led to a small bus that was already occupied by 16 other guests. Imagine our surprise the group size was now double. We were offered no explanation. (I wrote to Sally while sitting on the bus and was offered an explanation advising they were short one guide. This could have been communicated via email or from the driver or guide and would not have left everyone in my group feeling like we were hustled) Almost immediately after setting off, the weather turned foggy and rainy. Our guide informed us there would be a change of route and we would not be stopping at Durdle Door. This was very disappointing as it is supposed to be a highlight of the area. Instead, we set off to Corfe Castle. We were given one hour at this stop, so it was difficult to decide how to spend our time. We could explore the town or go into the castle. The castle is essentially a ruin and not included in the tour fare is the cost of admission for the castle at $16.50 pp. This brought our total expense for the tour to just over $150 pp - expensive! After leaving Corfe, the guide advised we would make our next stop at Lulworth Cove. The driver dropped us at the Visitor Centre and our group hiked up the trail toward the Stair Hole. Unfortunately, weather worsened and we most of us were quite wet from rain before going back to the Visitor area. The next stop was Weymouth. This is a lovely harbor town, and our guide pointed out some places to go for fish & chips or ale. He also mentioned where shopping was located. One note here, this stop is reachable from the cruise ship for free via a shuttle bus provided by the port authority. Having it included as a stop on a paid tour was not appreciated. Indeed, if included, should be the last tour stop so those wishing to stay in the town longer, could just take the shuttle back to the ship. At this point, many in the group decided to skip the last stop and do just that as they were soaked through and cold. I will add that our guide, Spencer, made every effort to make the best of our day. He was witty and often would point out "sights" not to be missed to the left or right as we travelled. Of course, no one could see anything through the fog. He was the one sunny spot in an otherwise miserable day.Written 8 August 2024
- T3659AOdans0 contributionsWonderful 2-day Best of the West tour!Had a wonderful 2-day tour with Danny! His knowledge is amazing and really added to the tour experience! - 4SonsBrewing0 contributionsPub Tour w/Spencer & friends!Top notch all the way! Dorset Tours was amazing to work with due to fast and efficient communication, flexibility and reliability, Six friends did the Pub Tour and our tour guide, Spencer, was waiting for us as soon as we got off the shuttle bus from our cruise ship. He felt like a friend within 10 mins of being in his van with his sense of humor and easy going attitude. He was extremely flexible to what WE wanted to do to make sure it was the best experience of our vacation! He shared with us his vast knowledge of the area and took us to the local favorite pubs and best sights around! Plenty of pics, pints, food and friendship and Spencer was there to make it all happen! You can’t go wrong with Dorset Tours and consider yourself a lucky bloke to get Spencer! Cheers!Written 14 July 2024

This excursion turned out to be one of our favorites on this British Isles tour! Spencer is a former fireman and lifelong resident in the area and knew ALL the best stops and good stories. We saw Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door arch, amazing views, and quaint villages with thatch roof houses. Just the quintessential picturesque sites that you hope to see in the English countryside!

The reviews were right. This was absolutely the best tour we took on our visit to the British Isles. We docked in Weymouth with our Princess cruise, and our tour guide, Danny picked us up right away. The tour group was small and the van was clean and comfortable. Danny was a gracious, kind, funny, and knowledgeable tour guide. He enlightened us so much on the places we visited, and it gave us a deeper understanding and appreciation. I would recommend this tour to anyone. And ask for Danny. :-)

We booked the Jurassic spectacular
Sally was extremely helpful in helping us book and Danny picked us up from the hotel on the day of the trip
Throughout the day, Danny’s commentary and planning for brilliant.
He gave us plenty of time to visit each sight, and had a great relaxed approach that instantly put us both at ease.
This is a long day out, but Danny was great in suggesting food and drink stops along the way as well we telling us where we were and what was coming next.
This is the definitive Jurassic tour. I’d highly recommend it. What a fantastic day out!

What a great way to see a new place. Spencer, our tour guide, was exceptional! Knew the area well and was able to share information about the area as well as share stories. Tour held 8 passengers and was able to take us places a larger vehicle would not have been able to go. Much better than anything our ship offered as a tour.

This was the absolute best tour we’ve been on half way through our 28 day TransAtlantic cruise on the Princess Regal. My husband, friends and I can’t say enough about our fabulous tour guide, Danny. He was knowledgeable, thoughtful and attentive to everyone on the day long small bus tour. Better yet, he was hilarious. The tour stops were all interesting and the countryside is beyond beautiful. We enjoyed it fully despite the dreary weather. Danny made sure we were all comfortable and got us back to the cruise ship with plenty of time to spare.
I also want to mention communication before the tour was concise with easy to follow instructions on meeting our tour guide. Highly recommend.

My wife and I did this incredible tour from our cruise. We took a shuttle bus to the mainland (free of charge) and we were met by our guide spencer who whisked away to many stops along the Jurassic coast. Spencers great sense of humor and knowledge of this area was top notch, he was a wealth of information current and historic. There is nothing better then taking a tour with a local. No bs just good clean fun. Thanks again spencer and be safe

we will be driving in from milton damerel for the tour. what time is departure? where would we meet? and how long can we expect the drive from milton to be?

Hi! According to Google, Milton Damerel is around 2hrs 30min drive from Weymouth. Most of our tours depart from Weymouth Train Station, although we can pick you up from your hotel or B&B. Departure time is around 9.30am. I hope this helps. Sally.

@Wander245894 We took this tour, it was really good with plenty of stops. Be aware this is a full day. I think we started at 9.30am and didnt get back to our hotel until 5pm. I think the guides can adjust the tour depending on how much time you have.
