About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- carolineaustin210 contributionsExcellent Service! My friend and I travelled from Doha to Muscat over Eid. We absolutely love this company and will use them again! Nizar arranged everything...from big to small details...and made the whole process smooth. We had private airport transfers and our Omani driver was so friendly! We also did the day tour of Wadi Shab and the Bimmah Sinkhole. Both attractions were extremely crowded due to Eid...so our driver offered to show us some of the mountains...we went to the big Dam and also Wadi Arbaeen! That was definitely the highlight! Can't wait to come back and use these guys again!Written 8 May 2022
- tomaz3250 contributionsSuperb private driver service but poor knowledge about the history and all other sightsWe did 2 day private tour. Communication with agency was ok, guide very friendly but service under expectations - if I would rate private driver service then I would give 5 but in terms of guide knowledge then it was really poor.Written 4 January 2022
- gbb4U0 contributionsPrivate tour- fantastic guide- problems with the company itselfI had a 11 day private tour with the best guide- Khalifa. He was smart and fun and engaging and very creative. He truly made sure that I had a wonderful tour of Oman. Its hard to spend that much 1:1 time with anyone, but he was easy going, considerate, and truly just the best companion. I can highly recommend Mark Tours if you request him specifically. The problem was with the company. I worked with them for two months on the trip- getting each site and hotel and activity specific for me. I had a definite budget and we agreed on a trip w the costs acceptable. Then after about 5+ weeks post agreement and 6 days before I flew the agent wrote me and said he'd make a mistake and that I needed to pay 40% more. I wrote to the Admin and never heard back. Eventually we were able to stay at the original agreed upon price, but that was bad business. Another problem arose when the company tried to substitute a lessor hotel for one that had already been agreed to and put into the itinerary. That also got resolved, but it left a very bad taste. So if you book with Mark Tours be very careful to get everything tied down and in writing. I was and am very concerned that I never heard from the owner/manager about this last minute price increase (40%!) attempt. That to me speaks poorly of the company. But if you do book - make sure you get Khalifa as your guide!Written 9 March 2020
- BeatrixeXJ0 contributionsBeautiful Oman: forts, canyons, villages and sincere hospitalityWe did a great tour or Nizwa (souq and fort), Jabel Shams and Misfat Al Abriyeen. We started early in the morning and finished on the evening after a day packed with learning, experiences, great photos and beautiful memories. Our guide, Mr. Essa, was extremely knowledgeable, thoughtful, hospitable, kind and funny. A great and sincere ambassador for the country, we couldn’t have hoped for better service. Totally recommend the itinerary, the guide and the organization.Written 1 February 2020
- 579dominiqueg0 contributionsWorth the ride !That was a perfect day with my guide Hossein. Smooth driving to the Wahiba Sands, while enjoying karak on the way. Then having fun with on the dunes with a 4WD or riding a camel. Going ahead to the Wadi Bani Khalid and praying to be lucky for being there on a day with no other turists at all (I am blessed)!Written 26 January 2020
- DKNY740 contributionsI was stood upWe had booked Mark Tours and confirmed many times. On the day of the tour, we waited for almost an hour... and got stood up. We called Mark Tours many times with no answer - they later called us back to say they didn't have their mobile phone. And, they could not locate the driver who was supposed to pick us up, and their Head of Operations was sick. Needless to say we made other plans. They emailed back a few hours later to say they could still not find the driver, and the Head of Operations was still sick, so they had no idea what happened. No explanation whatsoever, and zero compensation or good will gesture. It might have been a one-off, but I was very disappointed nonetheless. This has never happened to me anywhere in the world. I was also very disappointed with the way they handled it - taking no responsibility and offering no explanation. Hope you have better luck...Written 6 January 2020

- g0l20180 contributionsInteresting tourIt was a good hiking trip and not too difficult. You can further the adventure by swimming up to see the natural waterfall. I stay behind and had a good time watching people. Our group had a real good tour guide and that really made it fun.Written 4 June 2019
- J S0 contributionsCar rentalWe rented a 4x4 with Marks in Muscat for 15 days. It was a smooth experience. Friendly staff, very easy to communicate with. We picked it up at the airport, and they gave us a ride on our last day. Car was in good condition, only the plug for the GPS did not work but they immediately gave us another car. Would definitely use them again.Written 9 February 2019
- 325rubir0 contributionsHighly recommendedMark tours had an office in our hotel so we decided to book two tours with them. First day we did the wadi tours which was amazing, our guide Mazzuradin was very knowledgeable and helpful. He was punctual and tailored the tour to our needs offering us toilet stops etc. His English was amazing and he stayed close by to ensure we were safe at all times. We did the Muscat tour the next day and went to the palace, the fort, the mosque and the souk. Would highly recommend this company because we did see other guides from different companies not interacting as much with their groups or not being able to communicate effectively, a few guides were just dropping people by the entrance. Noticed other companies also sent their 4x4 out in conveys to the wadis which didn’t make it as personal.Written 14 January 2019
- Croma0010 contributionsOMAN viewMARK Tour is the best OMAN Agency. I had a CONTACT with them to arrange my trip and Mr. Rajeev Kalle took care of my basic idea with immediate suggestions and professionality. He arranged for me and my wife a wonderful OMAN view with the most important sites : mountains, wadi, villages, forts, desert and Muscat. The final price ? It was honest. If you don't believe me send a Mail to Mr. Rajeev, you can check by yourself.Written 7 January 2019
- Explorer8292080 contributionsValue for moneyGreat experience, perfect organisation, very punctual start (arrival of the guide 15 min. before departure time), very private and personal tour, our guide (Tarek) was great. We can strongly recommend Mark Tours!Written 31 December 2018
- mb1561110 contributionsA trek to rememberDefinitely a trek to remember! We were picked up in a 4*4 from our muscat hotel by the tour operator merc tours, our guide was called Khalifa and he was a very informative and knowledgable guide who could converse well in english. The trip to the coast was about 1.5 hours each. We did everything that the tour description said we would do and Khalifa went out of his way to show us the interesting places by the coast. The main bit was the hike, where we had to find the wadi/oasis so we were droped off by our guide at the start and told to just find the main wadi which was on the other side of the mountain. It was quite a long trek (a 45 mins walk at the very least) and there was a lot of walking about through rock paths so its essential that you wear walking boots/trainers, good grip is essential! Because we went in mid-september it was not busy so we took our time. Was told that in the main tourist season it can be a popular place to visit. By midday though it was boiling hot! It was nice to finally reach the wadi which was beautiful, we didn't swim so we didnt go any further. Some of the views whilst we were walking were absolutely amazing and it is so different to anything else that we did in Oman. There were waterfalls and pools that we encountered which made the place into a sort of paradise. It was worth the trip for the hike alone. After the hike and some dinner at a local restaurant, we went to other places such as the bimmah sinkhole and fins beach where our guide let us explore and take the all the time we needed. Overall it was a fantastic trip and I would recommend to all visiting Oman especially to those who want to explore, this place is definitely quite special. Hats off to our guide who helped make the experience memorable and enjoyable.Written 19 December 2018
- 143sarid0 contributionsMark Tours - the best in OmanMiddle East is our favorite holiday destination and most of the time we opt for Oman. Having been travelling to Oman for approx 15 years now, I can honestly say you are in very safe hands with Mark Tours. In the early days we used a different company and had some issues with couple of picks up, not turning up for the airport transfer etc and I wasn't happy how it was handled, but luckily I then found Mark Tours and have never had any issues since. I book my accommodation (mostly staying at Shangri-La), airport transfers and excursions with Mark Tours. We have done the city tours incl mosque visit, dolphin watching, a night in the desert, the mountains of Jebel Akhdar etc. All booked with a guide from Mark. We have visited with groups of friends as well as a family with teens and Mark Tours have always been able to suggest appropriate activities etc. All their guides have been very polite, with a good sense and really know the country.Written 15 July 2018
