- 1Mont St Michel is one of the most picturesque historical sights to see in France. Medieval Mont St Michel abbey famously perches on top of a rocky island near the coasts of Normandy and Brittany. This UNESCO World Cultural Heritage-listed site is hugely popular and always busy. The Romanesque-Gothic abbey complex is absolutely worth seing

- cindybo1230 contributionsMont St Michel 2 hour walking tourWe met our guide at the information center and set off on our 30 min walk to the island. There are shuttle buses that take you out if you don’t want to walk. Having our guide give us the history of MSM was priceless and made our visit so much better! There were also tour groups in their swim suits walking out into the muddy sands around MSM. Be aware, it’s a steep climb and tons of stairs that aren’t easily accessible with wheelchairs or walkers. If we would have planned ahead we could have enjoyed their famous $95 omelette! It was crowded on that little island but so worth it to see. Please get the Abbey included, it’s quite incredible.Written 3 June 2024

We signed up for a 2 hour walking tour in English. When we arrived we were told there would be 2 groups, one English and one French, with only one guide. Consequently we felt like we received 1/2 a tour as we had to stand around quite a bit while the guide repeated in French what he had just said in English. Had there been only one group there would have been more time and there could have been so much more about the Abbey explained. We do not feel that we got our money’s worth

We started our tour meeting at the information center and our guide was right on time! There was the option of walking to MSM or taking the free shuttle. We walked and enjoyed the view as we got closer to MSM. Our guide was very informative and funny and we enjoyed learning so much about this unique place. Harry Potter apparently was filmed here in the tiny streets. We walked all around and through the busy streets full of tourists, some were even out in barefeet on the muddy sand on this blustery day! We got to climb even higher into the Abbey! It was an epic experience especially when you think about how old this place is!

Honore was lovely and full of stories.
We were taken to two areas for viewing the mont and intitial overview of the history.
Then after about an hour we went via a quiet route to see the old church the tiny alley and other areas of the mount during the second hour.
Lastly you part just before the final climb to the abbey.
Lots of steps! Leave an hour at least to see the abbey. Lots of rooms. Take water and comfortable walking shoes.
The buses to get back to the car park are not marked so make sure you check you are in the right queue.

Very superficial giant. The Impression I had was that the Guide read something before meeting us and then went to explain what he remembered. He made comments on facts that were not real, like saying that Harry Potter was filmed in the hill (it wasn't). Half of the guide was talking about random things and avoiding more crowded places and walking through the secondary streets (there were no explanations of old shops, as was the local trade in the past, life inside the citadel or during the wars, etc.). I definitely expected more from the guide.

This tour was well worth the cost. Ours was a small group which facilitated great interaction with the tour guide. Our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. The guide took us up the island on a path that avoided the main street which was crowded with tourist. One heads up is that they no longer light up the island at night. This was a disappointment, but I guess understandable. Apparently the lights were negatively impacting on birds that nest on the island.

The tour guide did not meet at the agreed time and place and could not be contacted on the phone number they had written. So we spent a lot of wasted daytime trying to figure out what to do. Really bad experience!

We arrived late by a few minutes. Our guide Lisse was diligent about finding us, which we greatly appreciated. She was friendly easy to understand and very knowledgeable. She provided exactly what we needed. Perfect weather also helped provide a good experience.

I'm so glad we drove here so we could take our time taking in all the scenic areas. We got pictures with the sheep and the castle in the background. The closer you drive there the prettier it gets and the walk to the castle is worth it. Saw pretty birds. It's all worth the trip. I'm glad we booked a walking tour, it was worth it hearing all the stories and if it weren't for the guide we wouldn't have seen hardly anything. Quite the experience. And we got ice cream on our way back down and the price wasn't sky high like some reviews said. While walking to the castle we noticed lots of kids walking in the clay area and sinking, like it was a big local thing. There's so much to say about this place and to think we were debating on coming here thinking it was overrated. I'm very glad we went.

The address listed is wrong. It sends you to the car ticket barrier. Showed up on time but nobody was there because the address listed is incorrect. Was redirected to the correct place but nothing. Contacted the number listed and it said it did not exist. Messaged, called, texted, WhatsApp but nothing. Contacted them on the app. Again nothing. Never had any response from them. Contacted trip advisor and they refused to do a refund. In disbelief. Wrong address, number, no communication, and no refund? Read through the reviews it’s happened to others as well.
AVOID THIS COMPANY.

Nothing to say about the guide, it was great. A
Passionate who knew how to charm us even more in this idyllic place.
Why 3 stars! Disappointed for the organization. Email in English, no information on who our guide is. I sent an email to confirm the organization and there was no response.
We had the tickets included in the cool abbey except that we were not offered to take extra with the guide tablet. Forced to queue like this I didn't have a ticket, what a shame and waste of time!
So I do not recommend this guide company.

What time does the tour begin? We arrive at Mt St Michel at 1:00 and we are staying at Hotel LaCroix Blanche. There are six adults in our party.
