I went on the Grade 3 rafting trip with Wellington Rafting, and honestly, it was the best thing I did on my entire holiday. I had high expectations going in, but they absolutely blew me away. Hamish, our guide, was awesome—super professional, fully certified, and just a great guy to be around. He made sure everything was sorted, from the gear to a tasty lunch halfway through and epic photos. All I had to do was show up and enjoy the ride. And wow, what a ride! The river was stunning, winding through untouched native forest that felt like stepping into another world. What I really loved was how much they care about the river and the local community. It’s not just about the adventure for them—it’s about protecting the environment and sharing the stories of the area. That authenticity really stood out to me. I actually loved it so much that I went back and did it all again the next day. If you’re looking for an epic, authentic adventure in New Zealand, Wellington Rafting is 100% the way to go. It’s the perfect mix of adrenaline, nature, and good vibes.

Worth every penny...... The 10 km long river rafting with amazing views. The organiser Hamish and his friend Sam... made the adventure so so so much fun... we had family from Italy who simply loved every bit of it..... amazing river, amazing experience, must do in Wellington :)

Awesome, fantastic, gorgeous, exhilarating........ this tour was a blast! The 4 of us had a great time with Hamish. The rapids were running well and we were able to spend nearly 2 full hours in the beautiful gorge. All the gear was provided, booties, wetsuit, fleece! Just show up ready for adventure!

They were patient and caring with some of our more cautious team, while providing the thrills for the more adventurous of our group.

Amazing adventure through the rapids in Wellington. We got picked up and dropped off easily from Wellington, supplied lunch on the trip. Entertaining guide who made the adventure even better with easy to understand instructions and tailored the trip to our group! Highly recommend this half day tour while in Wellington. I think this tour was a perfect amount of time on the rapids.

An amazing experience, Jordan and Hamish were so informative, guided us with confidence and had some great stories to tell. This was my first time rafting and they made it easy, fun and really exhilarating, I can't wait to go again now! Jordan also helped me jump off a rock into the river, notwithstanding my fear of heights, thank you for that! This was an awesome experience - lots of scary fun rapids, but the guides always made you feel safe. The scenery you go through is beautiful. There are a lot of rapids - so there is constant excitement on this trip.

Awesome experience with kids- plenty of excitement, including big rock jumps and a few cool rapids! The team at Wellington rafting were super fun and professional- and ensured we had a great (and safe!) time. Probably the best adventure in wellington to take your kids on.

Unbelievable experience for 4 young teenage guys going white water rafting, grade 3 for the first time! High flowing river, rapids, rocks to jump off, confident guides and sunshine! Best time ever. Highly recommend Wellington Rafting! Such a cool business for our local.

Blown away that this epic, incredible adventure is so close in Wellington. This should be number one on a visit to to North Island, heck to both Islands! I've done the river boats in Queenstown, rafted through all kinds of rapids in Colorado, Texas and Oregon and this was by far, the most epic, exciting and gorgeous rafting trip I have ever been on! The landscape is some of the most beautiful, mind blowing lush canyons I've ever seen and the rapids were incredible, fast and amazing. For Lord of the Rings fans you start off in Rivendell and it's as beautiful as you can imagine. Hamish was our guide and is great leader. He and his patient and incredible crew always makes sure everyone is safe and at ease with the gear while showing you the true time of your life. Huge drops, fast water. Breaks for leaping off small cliffs and warm snacks and Milo to get you ready for the next set of drops. I can't say enough good things - a true adventure! Went with my cousin who was visiting and after touring all over New Zealand, was truly the best experience we had and we will never forget it.

A fantastic family adventure. The guide was very informative and made us feel well looked after. Everything was provided for us, so we could just turn up and enjoy the experience. It was exciting at times and also very relaxing, as we had plenty of time to float down the river enjoying the ancient forest scenery between the rapids. Also, a great bonding experience as we had to take instruction and work as a team, I felt the teenagers got a lot out of it. We are looking forward to doing it again.
