Best of the tombs!
Apr 2021
This was probably my favorite of all the tombs in Hue, maybe because it was the most ornate or most recent - it was somewhat relatable. Very well done, but be prepared for many steps!

a little underwhelming
Feb 2020
I love learning about history wherever I travel, so I was excited to come to this imperial tomb. However, the tomb was fairly small, and a little underwhelming. The tour of the whole place can be completed within an hour, and the admission fee was also higher than expected (150.000 VND).

When we got inside, we were expecting to learn some history about the emperor himself, but there wasn't much info available. Instead, we used wikipedia while we were there to learn the history of the emperor. The tomb was completed in 1931 for an emperor that ruled for 9 years, who didn't seem too popular with the Vietnamese people. I think some of my disappointment was with the emperor's story as well.

The positives from visiting the tomb: the mosaic work is truly stunning, and the view from the tomb was lovely.

Stunning
Jan 2020
We went early in the morning. The view that greets you is the amazing stairs to the tomb.
When you get up the stairs you turn round to stunning views across the valley to the hills in the distance.
The inside of the tomb is an amazing mix of mosaic and wood.
