About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Shoalies0 contributionsA great New Zealand attractionThis was an excellent experience on a working farm! The show includes all breeds of sheep on display with each one described by the hosts – plus a few types of sheepdogs as well. The shearing demonstration was very well explained. There are several opportunities for hands-on interaction with the dogs, the sheep and the wool. After the show they have a display of a sheep dog working some sheep in a paddock outside – fascinating! There is an animal nursery (cute!) and of course an obligatory “gift shop!” A great New Zealand attraction.Written 21 December 2024
- Z2266PLlesleyb0 contributionsInformative kiwi experienceThe your guide was very informative and the tour itself was interesting and about the right amount of time. The ticket counter purchase was underwhelming and the pizza at the cafe average but the staff were friendly.Written 21 September 2024
- evenstar9440 contributionsInformative and Fun Although Touristy ExperienceA very touristy but overall well done experience in Rotorua. I opted for both the sheep shearing and farm tour. The sheep shearing show was very fun, humorous and informative. Afterwards, you had a chance to pet and take pictures with the sheep and dogs on stage. In retrospect, I probably would have opted out of the farm tour as I had much better animal/farm experiences in the South Island. It was a wet day and pretty muddy. On the farm tour you get taken by tractor bus to different parts of the farm where you get the chance to feed sheep, alpalcas and deer. There is also a honey tasting area. At the end of the tour there are hose stations for you to clean off your shoes. Just keep in mind this is a popular touristy experience with bus tours and crowds.Written 4 July 2024

- Brissy20 contributionsFun and interactive show on Sheep farmAgrodome is a 350-acre working farm where they also performed daily shows for tourists which was both educational and entertaining. The statues of Shaun the Sheep and a sheepdog were at the front entrance along with a statue of a shearer. We wandered through the Gift Shop before the show in the large auditorium. The show began with bringing different types of sheep onto the stage and each type was introduced along with explaining their characteristics. During the show they sheared a sheep, milked a cow, fed some lambs and gave a quick dog demonstration and all of this involved the crowd’s participation. Well worth the visit,Written 9 April 2023

- sange650 contributionsWe All Loved ItWhat an awesome facility this is and it must have been so hard during lockdown and traffic light restrictions to just keep going. Very clean and tidy facilities with a large auditorium to entertain the visitors. We were only a small crowd today but a very appreciative one. The kids had a ball and audience participation was a lot of fun. Highlights were pretty much everything on offer and who knew we had so many different breeds of sheep in NZ Thank you Scott, you are hilarious and we enjoyed the show very much. Get out there fellow kiwis and tour your own backyard.Written 26 April 2022

- oilartist140 contributionsSheep Show at Agrodome ABSOLUTELY MUST SEEI would go back in a heartbeat. This was definitely one of the highlights of our entire trip to New Zealand in Sept 2019. We learned about the different types of sheep as they marched on stage and took their places. We witnessed a sheep being sheared, and much more. Loved the sheep dogs which demonstrated herding on stage (with ducks due to size). It may sound like a kiddie show, but it was way more fascinating and enjoyable than that. Get there early.Written 23 September 2020
- Mere_Ana210 contributionsBest placeWent here for our tourism class. And honestly hands down was a awesome experience. I went not knowing what we were going into but left feeling so full of happiness seeing all the Animals sheep’s I even won a sheep teddy bear for answering one of the questions right. Awesome experience.Written 25 August 2020
- KarenM1_100 contributionsBetter than expectedMy daughter came here when she visited New Zealand years ago and enjoyed it. Before travelling I was looking at the on-line reviews and they were mixed. We decided to give it a try and we really enjoyed it. The facility is on a very large piece of land. They have a large parking area that is free of charge. We only booked the Farm Show and found it very entertaining. The presentation was done is English but they do have head-sets where you can select a different language. The area where the show is performed is extremely large, but do make sure to arrive early and get a good seat. When we were there they had a good number of tour buses visiting. They do project the activity taking place on stage to a large screen so you can use that to enhance your viewing experience. Before the show starts the sheep are in completely accessible enclosures running along both sides of the stage, so you can get some very good photos. The gentleman that presented was very witty and made the show extremely enjoyable. They have other things to see in this area as well, such as the baby animals, gift shops and a nice café. They also offer a Farm Tour, which we did not go on since we were pressed for time. I would definitely recommend this attraction, especially for families. Make sure you check the show times before going since the number of shows vary at different times of the year.Written 19 April 2020
- Linda D0 contributionsOne my favesThis was perfect. You sit on benches and the MC brings in all these sheep, one at a time, explains the breed and what its special niche is. Then there is a lot of learning about wool, feeling real wool/lanolin, and watching a sheep shearing. A;so a pretend auction, audience participation with miling a cow (I got a certificate for milking!), and opportunity to come up and pet the sheep, meet other animals, visit the baies in the pens next, watch a sheep dog demo, watch some great tricks,, and also visit two separate and very nice gift shops on the grounds. The wool is amazing. The people were kind and helpful. This is well worth the money to do.Written 27 March 2020
- kvgjs0 contributionsA great showOur tour took us to the show. What a fantastic morning we had. Scott the “ring leader” was very entertaining and his team of sheep and dogs we amazing. There were a bunch of school children also at the show. They we encouraged to participate- and they did. All in all, if visiting Rotorua this is a must see. WOW!Written 18 March 2020

When our bus reached Agrodome Leisure Park all tourists followed the tour manager to proceed to the show of sheep. As I was tired, I decided to take rest. But after some the tour manager came to call me and stated about the uniqueness of the show. Being impressed I went to see the show. After entering I noticed many sheep only. The show started when the ‘hero’ of Agrodome entered and took over the dais.
On the stage there were earmarked places for each sheep. The show assistant freed the sheep one by one, right and left. The sheep took chair earmarked. Of course two or three committed mistake. Their mistake was corrected. The sheep appeared to highly been trained by master trainer. Food grains were kept in pots for all the places.
Once the master shouted photo. Majority of the sheep looked from and spectators took photo and videos.
Three ducks were fed milk from mil bottle. The spectators including one small boy were invited on the stage.
Three dogs were released to come on the stage. The dogs rushed after 3 ducks. But the master played the role of mediator and the ducks were not injured.
The master dressed a sheep to take the feather or plume. He throw the plums the spectators. I also collected and preserved so far.
In nutshell
• The show was loveable and enjoyed seeing about 20 different sheep on stage.
• The herding dogs could not injure the ducks.
• Undoubtedly this was a fun morning.
• The sheep show was interesting and had some cool information
• Inviting participants from the crowd was a tactical approach.
• I came to know from the participants that the Firm show was also very stimulating.
I enjoyed the show. I thanked the tour manager. Otherwise I would have missed and repent for a long time.

The Agrodome is a massive amphitheatre showing off the many different breeds of sheep in N.Z. (I didn't count them for fear of falling asleep !) Once the large audience (mainly South Koreans) had received all the relevant information our host, a real character of a bloke, proceeded to entertain seemlessly. Cracked everyone up with his one-liners ! Showed us how to shear a sheep (not easy) & his performing dogs were noisy but brilliant. None of the sheep batted an eyelid. Audience participation was encouraged & you couldn't keep the Koreans & the Aussies off the stage when it came to feeding the lambs. Altogether a worthwhile experience. The maestro then took us outside & with his trusty Border Collie gave a display of rounding up/herding a few sheep. Jolly good show. Recommended.

Great fun, entertainingly informative. So many variety of sheep - all different and handsome. Sheep dogs were great and the shearing demonstration excellent with a large nod towards entertainment too. The shepherd/shearer giving the demonstration was lovely, informative and involved audience members and children too. Visited as part of a Grand Pacific Ultimate tour

If you are an animal lover, nature and farm lover this is definitely a place to visit. You will learn about sheep shearing, herding dogs, milking cows and etc in a fun, entertaining live show setting. From bottle feeding spring lambs, getting close to sheepdog of the day, and taking picture with vast variety of different sheeps such as merino, Agrodome Sheep Show presents a fantastically fascinating performance.
But hold on, this show will never be complete without doing Farm Show. The pleasure of feeding the most amazing friendly creatures such as Alpaca, tasting and learning about New Zealand Manukau Honey, fresh juices and fruits are just small part of this incredible fun journey which can't be fully explained till experienced.

We visited here in 2019 and came for another visit. The farm show was much more enjoyable this time with a very funny and engaging host. Impeccable comedic timing. Nice to be able to see the sheep on the side stands and visit them before the show. Lots of audience participation and I liked how slow and gentle he was when he showed how to shear a sheep. I didn’t like that bit last time at all. Nice to chat with him afterwards in the animal nursery.
It was a bit damp and mucky on the tractor led farm tour but still nice to feed the sheep and llamas and see all the other types of animals on the farm. Love seeing kiwis on the trees! Really good gift shop and cafe. Great way to spend a few hours, rain or shine.

The Agrodome Show says it's for families/kids, but as adults who love animals we totally enjoyed the show. The show's MC is very entertaining as he introduced the various types of sheep, showed us how to shear sheep and how to milk a cow, worked with the sheep dogs, and had some of the children in the audience feed some lambs. This was a professional show that was excellent in all ways. Afterwards, we watched our some guy work to train a dog and then embarked on a tour of the farm where we saw cows, sheep, and alpaca (and more) and had the opportunity to feed the sheep and the alpacas. We had lunch in the cafe and spent more than we should have in the souvenir shop (excellent food and great choices in souvenirs). If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.

This is the second time we have visited, this time bringing the kids along.
They enjoyed the tour and the show a lot.
For me visiting a second time, I find the tour a little rushed (compared to few years ago). Perhaps there are a lot more people visiting now, with loads of tourists coming in buses.
The nursery also seemed less populated. I remembered there were more animals in the nursery the last time.
Overall, still a nice place to visit again.
