No longer in the dark
May 2021
A great reason to wander about in the bush in the dark without getting lost - something we don't often get to do once we're too old for Halloween. Our guide was very personable and knowledgeable, and found for us a couple of brushtail possums, lots of betongs and even a glimpse of a Spotted Quoll! This is a beautiful spot and a fantastic program.

A hit
May 2021 • Couples
This tour was fantastic, we learnt a ton from guide Belinda who was extremely enthusiastic and passionate. We saw bettongs and bush stone curlews. Will revisit the sanctuary with a camera for sure, and hopefully return to see quolls.

Australian bush wildlife light spotting with environmental scientists
Feb 2021
A fantastic 2hour + outing with Australian native animals roaming free at night in the bush. Our awesome volunteer guides Rachael and Andrew were professional environmental scientists, fun, passionate, and extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife, big and small, in the Mulligans Flat reserve. We saw kangaroos, wallabies, possums, lots of fascinating spiders, and the stars of our tour: bettongs! I would have stayed another two hours without the slightest hesitation. Kids and adults alike had a great time. Highly recommended!

Warm evening sightings of rare wildlife.
Feb 2021
We went on a Twilight Tour this week & were shown two types of wallaby as well as the rare bettong & quoll & bush stone curlew in the torch light. Also some amazing spiders in their webs. Really nice to be out in a warm Canberra evening. A nice small group. If I lived here I’d love to get involved. Wish you all the best with your work. Thanks to Georgie for putting on her first ever guided tour with Andy as mentor.

Seeing wild animals In the bush but close to town!
Jan 2021
the Twilight Tour at Mulligans Flat was wonderful - educational, fun and easy for all to do. We saw for the first time for us Betongs and a Quoll - also a Stone Curlew with chick plus spiders, kangaroos, wallabies and possums. All under a new moon and a starry sky. A great experience.
The guide and volunteer were knowledgable and enthusiastic. The path was easy to negotiate - a wide sandy/gravel trail with clean toilets at the woodshed. Very special to be out in the bush at night. The cicadas were in full song. Highly recommended for visitors and locals.

Awesome experience
Highly recommended. We were out on Friday evening and were the only 2 on the walk. Saw a number of betongs and a quoll, plus heaps of wallabies and possums. An amazing resource so close to the city.

Great to see Australian native animals back where they belong
Aug 2020
I was very impressed with the variety of native plants and animals we saw on the Twilight Tour of Mulligan's Flat Woodland Sanctuary.

Echidnas, red-necked wallabies, swamp wallabies, tawny frogmouths, sugar gliders, eastern bettongs, brush-tailed possums and the bush stone-curlew were among the wide range of species that made an appearance during the tour.

In particular, it was heartening to see so many eastern bettongs, which have been absent from the area for decades. We must have seen more than a dozen hopping around as the evening progressed.

I was also interested to learn about the presence of a local carnivorous plant which I was not previously aware of.

There are hopes for increasing the size of the sanctuary, and f you care about re-introducing Australian native fauna and flora to where it should be, supporting the Twilight Tour will help make that a reality.

Saw lots of nocturnal animals
Aug 2020
Did the tour today and it was amazing! Very knowledgeable guide and 2 expert volunteers that provided interesting information and found us lots of animals: many bettongs, a sugar glider, echidna, possums, frog mouth and other birds, as well as carnivorous plants. I learned a lot and would love to do it again. Social distancing observed.
