What to expect
After early morning pickup from your Alice Springs hotel in a climate-controlled vehicle, head for West MacDonnell National Park. On your first walk at Simpsons Gap, stop at a natural rock amphitheater, home to the rare black-footed wallaby. Move on to Standley Chasm, where you’ll enjoy morning tea and a stroll under acacias, ghost gums, and cypress pines. At the Ochre Pits, visit a sacred ceremony site for the Arrernte people. Next, head to Ormiston Gorge for a picnic lunch by the water hole before continuing on to the Mt. Sonder lookout, one of Central Australia’s highest points, for epic views and photo ops. Then, cool off with a swim at Ellery Creek Big Hole, and learn about the site’s geology from your guide. The day’s last activity, available as an upgrade in October through March, is a camel ride during sunset. Relax on the ride back to your hotel.

Brilliant, brilliant place
Sep 2021
This was such a fantastic trip with Emu Run. Our guide, Karen, was so very knowledgable she really added value to what was a brilliant part of the country anyway. Never did you feel rushed although there was a lot to see. The West MacDonnells are a must-visit for anyone visiting Alice Springs - and a reason to go there anyway! There are so many beautiful and interesting places in the West MacDonnells and it takes a full day to really be able to cover them all. In fact, I enjoyed the day so much, I actually returned to some of the places again a few days later. Thank you Karen. Couldn't have had a more knowledgable or friendly guide or one who was dedicated to ensuring her passengers really enjoyed their day.

Great tour!!
We had an excellent day with Harry from the Emu Run company recommended by our trusted travel agent

Picked up on time we visited various stunningly beautiful sites, with plenty of explanations from Harry
We had plenty of time for toilet stops, Harry provided us with morning tea, a lovely wrap sandwich lunch and afternoon tea.

This is a very good day trip operated by a very good tour company

Apr 2021
Karen, our guide & driver was fantastic. Professional & friendly with a great knowledge of the area. This is a great tour & nice to be taken to all the fantastic sights rather than a long day driving. We did this tour early April, so it was still quite warm, there was water on the bus, to fill up drink bottles at the stops & we were able to go for a swim at 2 locations.
We had a lovely morning tea Standley Chasm, but don't take too long taking photo's as we did as a lot of the morning tea had been eaten - though we still had enough to eat. We also had a nice lunch of wraps with deli meats & salad
I would definitely recommend you do this tour.

Very professional company and our tour driver/guide Karen delivered an exceptional commentary during our tour. Her passion & knowledge of the local flora, fauna & history was outstanding. We would definitely book another tour on a return visit.

Fabulous day
May 2021
Originally we were going on the Palm Valley tour but a knee injury meant a change. The customer service team were terrific when I rang. The difference in costs was promptly refunded.
Communication from the company is excellent.
There were 25 of us on the tour. Karen our bus driver/ tour guide was fabulous.
We were so lucky that there was so much green on the stunning landscapes and water at a number of locations.
It was a terrific day. Well paced and pretty comfortable on the bus. Morning tea & Picnic lunch was good and plentiful. Chance to chat to tour mates. Karen was great in letting us know how far to the next stop and pointing out facilities and difficulty of terrain as there were a few older people on board.
A very enjoyable day in stunning landscapes. Well priced.

Uncomfortable experiece that I never forget
May 2021
This trip was not too bad but I still downvote it due to my bad experience same week with the same company. In the last tour, the bus was full and not even one extra seat was available and I had a very uncomfortable time to stay next to the person on my neighbor seat. My day was ruined and I could not change my seat. The company is careless on me as a customer and I will never ever choose this company anymore. My downvote will at least help the other people.

Great experience with a very knowledgable friendly tour guide. Lunch was fresh salad ingredients, ham, chicken we put into a wrap. Loved it. Highly recommend this tour to the West MacDonnell Ranges with Emu Tours. Scenery is spectacular and with the history and local knowledge added is a bonus.
