Overview
Book ahead to experience the outback as the original Australian explorers did on this camel tour of Alice Springs. As you listen to your guide's commentary while on the back of a camel, it’s easy to imagine what it was like for settlers hundreds of years ago to travel across the Australian Red Centre. Stop for photos against the backdrop of the MacDonnell Ranges and spot wallabies and kangaroos.
Highlights
  • Experience Australia as the original settlers did: on the back of a camel
  • Get closer to wildlife than if on a traditional Alice Springs vehicle tour
  • Learn the history of camels in Australia from your guide
  • Hotel pickup and drop-off makes for a seamless experience
What to Expect
Ready yourself for pickup from your Alice Springs hotel at the time indicated upon booking, depending on which tour option you selected (morning, afternoon, or sunset). Or, self-drive to Pyndan Camel Tracks if you prefer. There's no better vantage point to see the local wildlife without disturbing them than on the back of a camel. Keep your camera ready for up-close views of wildlife such as wallabies, kangaroos, and native birds on your gentle ride to the scenic Temple Bar Gap. Your guide helps you spot wildlife and teaches you about the history of camel use in Australia. When the tour ends, you are returned to your Alice Springs hotel.

Friendly and professional staff. Camel ride lasts one hour. Guide offers to take photos on your own phone/ camera. At end of ride, was offered a beer or champagne. Chose the sunset camel ride as it's cooler weather. Afternoon rides also available. Highly recommended

We did this tour as an off-train excursion whilst on The Ghan. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves - the camels were very cool and the ride through the desert was very peaceful and beautiful. Our cameleer Ben was funny and easy going. The home station display was very interesting.

First time on a camel and what a way to do it than in the centre of Australia. It was so relaxing and the scenery was amazing. The camels were chilled out and it was a delightful walk. The staff were also lovely and friendly. Highly recommended.
