About
The natural wonders of Australia’s Top End lie south of Darwin, but exploring them independently requires a self-drive 4WD and serious planning. Bypass the hassle on a 5-day tour that covers Kakadu, Nitmiluk, and Litchfield National Parks; and packs each day with adventure and sights. Take a crocodile-spotting cruise, kayak, swim in waterfalls, see rock art, and overnight at private campsites. Guiding, 4WD transport, and meals make your experience complete.

Disappointing
Oct 2019
Wayoutback Australian Safaris appear very good on paper, but do not deliver on experience. They use the words "private and permanent campsites", "comfortable and permanent tents"; but a roped off area, with a small sign stating "Private Campsite. Do not enter" at the rear of a Lodge in Kakadu, in the unpowered camp area does not really fit the bill. Comfortable is very loosely interpreted by this company, as sleeping in a small tent with little or no electricity, 2 metal bunks designed for short people only, in sweltering heat is hardly "comfortable". This should be marketed as camping for backpackers, as the level of comfort received, and the quality of food and accommodation does not equate with the price we paid nor the itinerary we received. The Feedback team at Wayoutback respond to any concerns with the finesse of a well oiled PR team. Our concerns were batted away with words like "misalignment of expectations" . I would not recommend this company and definitely would not use them again.

Great trip. Darren our guide was very knowledgeable about aboriginal culture, fauna, flora, history etc . We were able to learn much more and see much more than if we had of travelled by ourselves. The benefit of local knowledge cannot be overstated. Wayoutback and in particular Darren looked after us very well. There was an abundance of food including Vegan options. Scenery, wildlife and cultural experiences were wonderful.

Incredible five days!
As a group of seven aged 5 years to 74 years we absolutely loved this tour. Sarah was an outstanding guide with loads of positive energy. She was constantly helpful and made the tour fun and exciting. Food was wonderful and well suited to a broad group. Camp sites are fixed with single beds so the camping experience is achieved without the hassle of putting up tents each night. Each camp site has good facilities for cooking as well as toilets and showers. The kids loved Sarah and she provided a wonderful balance of information, experiences, downtime and appropriate stops during the longer travel periods. If traveling with young kids take noodles for the swimming holes and snacks for the bus. Also the hikes into the waterfalls are sometimes challenging for those 70+ especially in the 40 degree heat so I would recommend only for those fit enough to take it on (no trouble for the kids though!). Thanks Sarah for a jam packed 5 days of building memories!

Fantastic tour, meeting new friends and really enjoying being part of a team
Sep 2019
Such a fantastic tour. Left Darwin and headed for Litchfield where we swam in beautiful Florence and Wangi Falls. Cruised the Yellow Waters and saw art and a beautiful sunset at Ubirr. More swimming at Gunlom and Edith Falls. It was great to meet Manuel and Alex, they were a great team and very entertaining. Loved going to Arnhem Land which was a really good experience, something I will always cherish. It was all made possible through our tour guide Darren, he was a wealth of knowledge, a great cook and good companion. He was very organised and we worked in well together. I would do another tour tomorrow if I could. I must also mention that we had the best damper ever.

Exceeded my expectations
We just came from 5 days Jabiru dreaming 4wd tour. First - huge thanks to our guide Kasey. You were great.
We loved the tour and it is as people before me say.
I’ll just write about things which were no clear for me.
Accommodation - private campsite is for 3 nights inside caravan parks. Parks are very good and have very clean amenities units with toilets and hot water showers, shop, pool, cafe. Campsite has tents and kitchen with running water, fridge, stoves, tables.
Katherine camp is on it’s own but also has toilet with hot shower. Watch sunset, sunrise and night sky there - amazing.
Power points and opportunities to charge your devices- there are power points in the kitchen and you would be able to charge your devices there.
Mobile Reception - first day it’s at the very beginning of the trip, then nothing. Second and third night - you would have reception in the caravan park, then near Katherine and one bar at the campsite.
You would be able to buy alcohol, but would need ID for that. We could pay with credit card everywhere apart from the Katherine Gorge boat cruise- $100 p/p. But our guide made stop near shopping centre in Katherine to get cash from atm.
There would be esky to keep your drinks cool.
We loved all activities on the tour. All natural attractions and aboriginal sites are quite famous. But I would like to say that we never expected Bowali visitors centre to be so good. It definitely deserves more time. And also time we spent at Top Didj with Manuel Pamkal was definitely highlight of the trip. Manuel is unbelievably charismatic and talented.
To be honest - tour is packed with activities and has a very tight schedule. But you should be aware that distances are huge and there would be a lot of driving and some of it on a gravel road.
Now, go there and enjoy

Breathtakingly amazing trip!
Sep 2019
Our fantastic guide Jezza took us to the most incredible places, was so informative, knowledgeable and friendly. Even though I travelled solo, I felt very included in the group. The campsites & food were awesome too. Jezza was a great cook! Very well paced tour. I seriously couldn’t wipe the smile off my face with the gorgeous views, wildlife, waterfalls and sunsets. The cultural experience on day 4 was fantastic too. The only downside was not being informed (at the booking stage) of the opportunity to visit shops for snacks/drinks, optIonal extra trips (eg cruises, helicopter flight) & the need for ID to purchase alcohol in the NT. Regardless of this, I would highly recommend this tour for everyone! Make sure you take cash and your ID though!

Stunning scenery and well paced tour
Aug 2019
The tour delivered as advertised. Our guide Tim was first rate and gave a 100% to see everyone in our party had a good time. There were some challenging walks into some of the waterfalls but various areas of access to suit peoples capabilities. Everyone pitched in to run the camps and meals. A great time

Jabiru dreaming - absolutely fantastic and recommended
Aug 2019
I have booked the Jabiru Tour for 5 days and our guide Rick made this tour to an unforgettable trip and to a wonderful experience. We have seen breathtaking sunsets on amazing places, enjoyed swimming in fantastic natural pools, were able to marvel at many different animals in their natural surroundings and we relaxed after delicious dinner.
Rick told us many details about the Aboriginal people, their history, their tradition and rituals and led us to places where we could get an impression of the Aboriginal art.
Rick knew a lot about the flora and fauna around us and told us everything in an english that everyone could understand. He was always ready for fun or to talk about all possible topics with everyone and he drove us safely over some really bumpy roads and had an open ear for every concern.
The equipment, the accommodation and the supply were as described, the tour was well organized and everything worked without any problems (I was already on tours, there was pretty much nothing working, as it was promised, for example: cancelling after waiting for more than 1 hour, totally different routes, activities and accommodations than booked and so on).
So our mixed group grew together to a small family and the tour became an unforgettable, fantastic, exciting, amazing adventure for everyone. I can recommend tours with wayoutback to 200% and will prefer this company at my next booking, cause everything has worked perfectly and I got the best value for my money and had a motivated guide who does his job with a lot of passion!
Well done, Rick!

fantastic outback tour
Jun 2019
We had a dreamlike 5 day 4WD outback tour through Kakadu National Park, Lichfield and Katherine. Our guide Jack showed us with his enthusiasm the most beautiful places at the topend. Waterfalls, crocodiles, swimming in wonderful lakes and Aboriginal culture were a wonderful experience. I would book the tour again immediately!
