- sylviamV3107DK0 contributionsDarwin Bombing 19 February 1942 - As It Happened! it happened.Great tour and historical information in sequence as it happened to better understand this very significant event in Australia's history. Stories of brave and courageous people. Hearing about these stories and events from the boat in the harbour and looking to the sites along the coastline really had an impact, especially visiting the USS Peary site. Lots of great photos, friendly and professional skipper and staff plus the ANZAC cookies all made for a great tour. Highly recommend.Written 30 December 2024
- shacambray0 contributionsWw2 tourWe enjoyed this tour. It gave a good overview of ww2 and the bombing of Darwin. The cruise of the harbour was good and very informative. You could adjust your walking if needed. The bus was a bit warm but it was a very warm day. I learnt a lot and would recommend to visitors to Darwin.Written 9 November 2024

- Walterchalupsky0 contributionsWell worth doingGreat tour and excellent tour guides, very well informed. Bus was in great condition with lots of space and easy to get in and out of, not too big. Tour guide was very informative not only on WWII but generally. The boat trip was also very informative. This was a great tour, especially not overly long and tiring.Written 26 August 2024
- 122gayc0 contributionsDisappointing commentry. The views were amazing from out on the harbour. I went out to hear about the bombing of Darwin in 1942, however I came of the boat very disappointed as the guide spoke more about Darwin politics and his very negative stories about Darwin.Written 22 August 2024
- HDStripad0 contributionsInterestingThe cruise neatly complements, and can be taken in conjunction with, the Bombing of Darwin experience at the RFS on Stokes Hill Wharf. We learnt a lot about the dreadful day in Darwin in February 1942. The guide was informative and amusing but we wished for more information about Darwin 1942 and less commentary on Northern Territory 21st century politics.Written 21 August 2024

- A6534DJmaryb0 contributionsBombing of Darwin - a must seeI recommend this tour for anyone with an interest in Darwin and its history. Our tour guide Mariet was very helpful and informative on all aspects on this city's bombing during WW2. She obviously has a passion for this subject and was able to convey this easily and with great interest. The visit to the museum was a valuable aspect of this tour, and more time could have been spent there. The combination of bus and boat tour made for a comprehensive morning's tour.Written 29 July 2024

- judithp2210 contributionsForgotten Piece of HistoryInteresting tour where I learnt many facts about the bombing of Darwin and Northern Queensland that I knew nothing about. Enjoyed the harbour cruise which included bombing sites, even though it emphasised what must have been a horrific event for the people of Darwin.Written 19 July 2024

- N7297EQbrianc0 contributionsTime your visit to Darwin with the full moon or the new moon so you don't miss this tour! This is a tour worth every cent. From the time we booked to our docking after our tour, the staff were terrific. Great service at all times. The boat is very comfortable and our 1.5hr ride to Bare Island was great. Kerry is a great skipper. Dinner in the bento box was delicious accompanied by nice drinks - beers, wine and/or soft drinks. The knowledge of Carolyn and Natalie was amazing and we were very grateful to have them accompany us and help us learn more about the flat back turtles. Best of all we saw a mother turtle dig her nest, lay her eggs and return to the sea. WOW! Thank you for the opportunity to have this very special experience.Written 13 June 2024

This was a great experience and good fun as the boat travelled at high speed at times but was calm and sedate while viewing the sunset.
The boat was a nice compact size and the staff were friendly.
The sunset was magnificent, and a surprise bonus was the silhouette view of the city with the sunset colours behind it.
Calamari was delicious but fish and chips were not great.

Thank you for your kind words Michelle, we're glad you had a lovely experience - the sunsets have been pretty special lately! I appreciate your feedback regarding the fish n chips - I have followed this up with La Beach (the restaurant), and hope that the matter has been rectified moving forward.

Magic sunset tour! The fast boat was fun, scooting around the city to Cullen Bay with a glass of bubbles! We were a little hesitant about the quality of the fish & chips, BUT how wrong were we! They were absolutely delicious! Batter was crisp & there were 2 large thick pieces of fish & the chips were great as well!
Now, the sunset…. WOW, WOW, WOW! Was truely amazing & we stayed watching the magnificent sky change colour for at least 20mins before we headed back to the Pier. Such a wonderful memory.

What an amazing experience. I live in Darwin and have had the pleasure of taking many cruises but this has a point of difference. Fish & Chips with a glass of your favourite tipple taken straight from Cullen Bay Fish & Chips was unique. We then motored slowly directly towards the sunset with the opportunity of the staff taking your photograph off the bow with your own camera with the sunset in the background. The boat powered by 4 x 300 hp engines makes it a speedy return when required. Well worth the trip.

Was great to see the sunset, but we were sitting down the back of the boat (allocated seating) so heard none of the commentary along the way, was really disappointing, especially paying $109 essentially for fish and chips. I’ve done all other SeaDarwin trips previously which were excellent. Perhaps the narrator could wear the headset that’s on board so everyone can hear and be informed, not just some.
Sunset was beautiful and Fish and Chips really good.

All in all a good experience. We booked the Sunset Cruise incl. fish and chips which left the Stokes Hill Wharf at 5.30pm for 2 hours of cruising. It was priced quite well and included one drink per passenger (beer, wine, sparkling or soft drink) and gourmet fish and chips and was also a decent amount of time to spend on Darwin Harbour. We set off for Cullen Bay as the first stop and also to pick up our fish and chips dinner which came from La Beach and was simply fantastic!! After that we explored more of the harbour and saw an epic NT sunset. The three young crew members were fantastic, they were really keen to make sure everyone was having a good time and were happy to answer any questions or help with photo taking. This is a local, family business and it always feels good to support companies like this. While it was pointed out that Darwin Harbour is 8x the size of Sydney's I feel that it lacks the character so you are a little limited in what you can see - it's quite expansive and is more commercial / industrial, an example being that one of the key features of the harbour is a naval base. I have no idea what you might even do on a longer cruise. So manage your expectations - Darwin isn't the most picturesque harbour in the world, but that takes nothing away from this stellar cruise operation.

Really enjoyed the cruise. Georgia and Sam were fantastic hosts. The food was good and the sunset was amazing. The best part was landing on the sandbank and watching the sunset. We were even entertained by some dolphins. Sam the Skipper gave the kids on board a few thrills at the end by doing a couple of donuts with the boat. Would highly recommend this cruise.

Lovely friendly crew, fish & chip box from Stokes wharf was fresh, hot & plentiful.
We were expertly positioned to view sunset and an added bonus was “doughnuts “ at speed in the harbour. Good way to spend an evening.

This is a must if you are in Darwin, the perfect way to see a Darwin sunset. Well worth the price which was $99/adult and $89 for our 14 yo. The serving of fish and chips was generous, it also includes a glass of wine/ bubbles or a choice of 2 different beers, you can purchase any subsequent drinks and you get to keep the wine glass/ stubby holder. Kerry the captain was informative and explained all the relevant land marks, I'm sorry I can't remember the 2 girls who were with him but they were informative and very attentive to the passengers. Also we had booked for a different night but our daughter had an opportunity to do something on that night and I can't speak highly enough of Heather in the office who although thought she might not be able to move us managed to make it happen. We did the cruise on our last night in Darwin and it topped of an amazing week and sent us home wanting more.

Big swell - 1 passenger couldn’t even get on because of it!
One of the girls said this was the biggest swell they’d had as we were boarding
I was a Solo traveller and I was told I could only sit in the back row because other groups were booked together
Told we were given ‘ complimentary drinks’- that I paid for!
I got off before we left

Thanks for leaving your thoughts for us - and sorry the conditions weren't as good as they often are, unfortunately the swell is one thing we can't control. We do our best to seat everyone so they are together with their travelling companions, and we usually find the front and the back seats are equally user-friendly. Sorry we didn't meet your expectations this time around.

Hello there,
We would love to book this cruise. However I am not good at ship/boat due to my vertigo. Although my condition is not too bad, I just wanted to know how smooth/rough this boat gets. It is a "Dry" season now, so hope it's not too bad, I suppose? We are looking at booking on this weekend 18th/19th June, 2021. Looking forward to your prompt reply. Thanks.

We went out and the water was calm. We are leaving Darwin today and other than a couple of days with a bit of a breeze, the water is fine. Just note that the boat travels at high speed and does donuts before heading back to harbour. If you want calm/slow cruise, I would suggest one of the other options for dinner cruise.

Hi, my husband is disabled and uses Canadian crutches to walk or a small mobility scooter for long distances. Is this Sunset Cruise 'safe' for us...the boat looks smallish, but the deal sounds lovely. And is there a toilet on board? We will be there on Sunday 13th October '19. I really would appreciate feedback from you all!! Cheers...Jill McNamara

Hi there. There is definitely a toilet on board. As for the accessibility issues you raise, why not give the operators a call and have a chat with them directly.

My wife is unable to have any flour coated fish or chips sprinkled with seasoning containing flour or wheat. In other words it MUST be gluten free. Is that possible on your cruise?

Hi, can we pay and board on the night or are all bookings online? Looking to cruise 13/2/19 2 Adults.
Written 1 February 2019
We booked and paid on line prior to boarding. Best to book ahead to make sure you get a seat. Drinks during the trip were paid by credit card on board. Really good trip, not too formal, relaxing and friendly and also not too long. Sunset was awesome. Well worth it. The fish and chips were great. Recommend this trip over a formal dinner cruise if that’s what you like. Hope this helps. Gary
