Beyond expectations
Oct 2019 • Couples
An excellent itinerary & accommodation (lodge rather than tent for us - the only way in October heat & at our age of 70 years!) raised to an even higher level by our guide/driver/chef/carer Josh whose knowledge, care, inclusiveness, enthusiasm and general good humour made the safari special, even maintaining equilibrium though confronted with a “difficult” trio of overseas travellers who were just plain rude, but Josh well handled their endless (groundless) complaints & issues in a professional manner throughout, saving the enjoyment of the tour for all other 12 travellers. Well done!

It's a pleasure to read your fantastic review and I couldn't be more pleased than to hear your account of Josh and how he managed your group. Our guides are integral to creating such memorable experiences and I know they always appreciate passengers taking the time to recognise their effort. Thank you for sharing your experience and I hope the remainder of your travels have been as enjoyable.

A good way of covering a few highlights
Aug 2019
The trip was interesting and the permanent tents were comfortable. Our guide was lovely but we felt like being in a tourist group rather than being travellers which understandably would be the flavour of the trip as we were there to sightsee but this was a vastly different trip from our 15 day Kimberley Wild trip from Broome to Darwin.
Despite our itinerary issued to us from our travel agent and also the website stating pick up from our hotel, there was a change of instructions. I feel the company should amend this to say only certain hotels would be included in the pick up as this would have helped us arrange a booking for accommodation. This is incorrect advertising and I would urge the company to update their website for the 4 day tour. The itinerary also states all the items provided but I was embarrassed to ask our guide about a towel which she too was not aware that this was provided for as stated on the website ( although a small detail, again this should be amended) and she ended up having to ask around at management at the campsite.
The Yellow Waters cruise however exceeded my expectations- lots of crocodiles and fabulous commentary makes this a must if you are in the area. Also I enjoyed going swimming in the JimJim falls although as it had been particularly dry there was no gushing waterfall. The walks are not too arduous although there is a little bit of boulder climbing to the JimJim falls which even my husband who had broken his arm managed( but he is also into tramping/ hiking so possibly is used to rugged walking).
The Top End tour to Arnhem was wonderful- Lauren was fabulous and visiting the town and art centre Injarak was really interesting. Top End is used by Wayoutback as they have a permit to go there and Wayoutback does not.
There are some great Aboriginal art items to purchase at the Injalak art centre and it is nice to support the local indigenous group by purchasing some items. Lauren was very kind to drop us off at our hotel in Darwin where we had stored extra luggage as there is a 10 kg limit for this trip. The drop off was appreciated as it is 7.30pm when you arrive back into Darwin. Well done Top End for providing a fabulous day out to Arnhem land- this was a positive end to what was initially a disappointing encounter with Wayoutback.

Thank you for sharing your detailed review of your recent touring experience. It is a pleasure to hear your account of Yellow Waters, Arnhem land and Jim Jim falls which I agree are fantastic experiences. I am sorry that you encountered some conflicting information during the booking process, our pickup locations can be restricted due to vehicle access which occasionally requires passengers to meet us at a nearby location. I can appreciate that this information is essential at the time of booking and will certainly address this on our website. You are correct in saying that towels are included on this tour, it is not yet clear to me why these were not readily available however I have shared this feedback with our operations team so that they can review their procedure and ensure the issue is not repeated. Thank you again for sharing your review, while it is disappointing to hear that we have fallen short in some areas your feedback allows us to address any concerns and improve the quality of our tour experiences.

Wonderful trip, loved our guide!
Jun 2018 • Couples
We had a wonderful time on our 4 day trip. Our giude, Leigh, took great care of us. He anticipated our every need and made us feel very comfortable. It was really fun getting to know the other people on the tour and every day was a new adventure. Also enjoyed the camping part of the trip because it allows everyone to let down in ways that they don't when staying in a hotel. Definitly a hgih point of our vacation!

The best tour guides you'll ever meet in Australia
After 3 months of tours, excursions, events and activities in Australia I can confidently state the guides I had on the 10 tour from Darwin to Alice (made up of 3 tours) where the best you'll meet.

Specifically, I'd like to call out Kat who led us on the Darwin to Darwin loop. I've not met anyone more passionate about Aboriginal culture, nature and nurturing a good time on tour. Thank you so much for a great trip.

Well organised, well executed and thoroughly enjoyable.

Some people have commented on how difficult some of the walks are and I would recommend looking back at the website that outlines your need for a certain level of fitness. There was a 69 year old gentleman on our tour who did all the walks, bouldering/scrambling with the rest of the group. You will need to a headtorch or phone light to wander to some of the toilets and shower blocks once the sun has gone down but it's the outback, it's meant to be off grid, back to nature. I'm not a camping fan but once you let go, it's a fantastic experience that has little impact on the wonders you will see on these tours.

I did the Darwin to Darwin (Top End), Darwin to Alice Springs and the Alice loop to Uluru and Kings Canyon finishing back at Alice.
