        Daintree Rainforest
The full day experience was very good. The Guide was a local, a very friendly guy who knows everything and everyone in his Daintree region. We walked through the rain forest , along the beach and the highlight was walking though Mossman Gorge with us. We did a 4 km hiking trail. Hi showed us a lot healing plants in the whole region As lunch he had fresh fruits and a wrap for everyone. Thanks for the amazing day

Walkabout tours - one of the best tours I've experienced
Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the day with Aaron. Such openess to share his extensive knowledge with us. His authentic love of his country and culture was evident and his friendliness and level of engagement truly made this day memorable. Everything was perfect and I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting a great day out learning about indigenous culture.

Highly recommended Walkabout Cultural Adventures - we had an amazing day!!
Juan Walker (and his grownup niece) was the bedst guy to learn us about the Aboriginal culturally life, traditions, different food at medicines from the nature. We trying to catch mud crab and end our tour in a very beautiful fresh water stream. Highly recommendations from Linda and Jan from Denmark.

        Wonderful walkabout
We had a wonderful day with our native guides, Aaron and Chaslea, who picked us up and dropped us off at our Port Douglas hotel. I can’t imagine doing this tour with who was not Aborigine. Both Aaron and Chaslea have lived here all their lives and passionately shared their knowledge and love for the region and its people. Along the way, Aaron would make frequent stops to show us various native plants and demonstrate their medicinal purposes. We were invited to partake (beware the noni fruit) of the various remedies (I ate my first and last green ant) at each stop. We saw cassowaries (2) and crocodiles in the wild and had a delicious lunch including exotic local fruits that Aaron prepared. During lunch Chasely brought out maps and local artifacts to educate us on the various Queensland clans and how they have subsisted on this land for centuries. All in all this was a wonderful immersive experience. A shoutout to Jo Gasteen of Journey South for arranging this and to our exceptional guides.

        Fantastic experience
This was a great tour with lots to learn. Our guide, an aborigine, was fantastic and knowledgeable. He told about the different aborigine areas and customs which for me was great. Juan walker is in my top 5 tour guides I've had the great pleasure to know. I learned so much and had a great time. I want to wish him the very best of luck. Tour was a great value.

A great day in the Daintree rainforest
Our group of four were under the care of Aaron as we were driven and guided on hikes in the dense rainforest. Aaron skillfully sighted rare insects, spiders, birds and bats and described the aboriginal use of plants as medical remedies and food. He was professional and personable and generous in sharing his tribal knowledge of the rainforest. This guided tour was a high point in our Australian itinerary, leaving us with a desire to return for more.

Small business, small group, big fun
Great company. It's a small family business of indigenous people who want to earn a decent living teaching others about culture and nature; not trying to be the big company. They were flexible and communicative about pickup and bringing us back (we had no car of our own and were staying half an hour south of Port Douglas). Aaron is a great guide with a lot of knowledge and a very charming personality.

        Exceptional and life-changing
This tour is a must. If you're Australian, this tour will bring you closer to your own country. It will show you an Australia you never knew and will leave you wanting to know more. You'll marvel at Aaron's knowledge of plants, animals and landmarks and at how the Eastern Kuku Yalanji people used this cultural knowledge to survive for thousands of years. It will deepen your respect for our Indigenous peoples, their knowledge and culture. If you're from overseas, it's a great introduction to Australian Indigenous culture and the beauty of the Southern Daintree Rainforest area.

        Had the very BEST time!
Hands down the best tour I have taken! Aaron, our host/guide was fantastic, and his local knowledge was super apparent as he responded to questions and queries by fitting in answers and demonstrations on the fly. He showed first hand his deep learnings from his cultural heritage and knew precisely where to go/look for flora and fauna Aaron's personality is wonderful and he made EVERYONE feel comfortable and special. A top guide and a top bloke. I HIGHLY recommend these tours! Thanks Aaron, will seek you again next trip! Cheers, Steve.

        The best tour ever
This walkabout tour was the highlight of my trip up north, from Victoria. Aaron was such a wonderful friendly leader: full of great humor, incredible information and spotting things the rest of us would have walked past. We had the most interesting day, filled our bellies with delicious native fruits, lunch and home made damper. Yum. We tested native plants for their medicinal properties and swam in the healing waters at Mossman Gorge. Saw a crocodile as well as other local animals. I can't speak highly enough about the tour and the life and joy Aaron brought to it. Thanks so much, Carole

My husband and I recently stayed at the Daintree Ecolodge while on our honeymoon. If you are planning to stay in the Daintree Rainforest, we highly recommend this tour.

Not only was our aboriginal guide (Juan) knowledgable about the people and culture of this region, he was also super friendly and patient. Even though we booked the half day tour, it went well into the mid to late afternoon.

We went to local beaches learning about nature's medicine and hunting for mud crabs with spears. We were lucky enough to catch one thanks to Juan! Juan also caught a mud mussel as well. Afterwards, he brought us to Mossman Gorge which is beautiful. We swam in the fresh saltwater while eating local fruits and some baked goods made by Juan's Mom.

When Juan dropped us back off at the Ecolodge, he brought the crab and mussel to the chef at the restaurant and they were able to prepare us a lovely dinner for our last night there.

Don't hesitate to book this tour. It is well worth the money for an unforgettable experience with an amazing guide!!

We had an amazing time with our tour guide Aaron. He brought a wealth of personal knowledge to form an incredible experience for my partner and I. Aaron was generous with his time and explaining his lived experience. Undertaking a tour of the Daintree and Mossman Gorge with an Indigenous guide helped us to understand the history of the area, the original names, wildlife and plants. The land is pristine and sacred, Aaron helped us tread lightly and respect its significance as a habitat, food source and “pharmacy”. He made a silver leaf soap to help clear up my mosquito bites, showed us ‘Howard’ the crocodile and provided amazing native fruits and damper.

I would highly recommend this tour over another provider so you can appreciate these ancient lands and learn about indigenous culture in a respectful and supportive way.

Great. Aaron seemed to be able to spot a stick insect at 200m. He was gregarious humorous, knowledgeable, and focused on ensuring we had a memorable experience. On our behalf he exposed himself to a nest of green ants to demonstrate their value. We missed seeing a Casowary, but saw things others could not see from 30cm away. If you get the chance dont miss it.

Immemorable authentic and real experiences offering participants a total immersion in what life is like as an indigenous person today, combining economic development and preservation of culture/nature. As a native of New Caledonia, I deeply appreciated this outing and I found many similarities with my culture. I support this type of initiative which for me is a model to follow in order to bring about more sustainable development of its territory. Not to mention that Juan also participates in the education of the young people of Mossman by teaching them the traditional language once a week. We can only wish the best for their future projects and that they inspire future generations to carry out theirs.

A brilliant way to engage with rich indigenous culture and history. Our family loves spending time with Juan, exploring his traditional lands and learning some basic skills based on deep knowledge, which has been passed down over generations. Highly recommend this experience to discover the food, medicine, history and creatures that dwell in the mudflats, the creeks and mangroves. And one big crocodile!

This experience was absolutely BRILLIANT and I would highly recommend it to anyone travelling around Port Douglas. My 7 year old son and I loved every second of this adventure. Juan is such a lovely host and was so generous sharing his knowledge of the land, bush medicines and bush tucker. We ate delicious mud crab he had caught and damper and muffins made by his mum. It was such a special experience filled with forever memories and was a highlight of our trip away.

Juan and Harry gave us the unique opportunity to learn about and participate in the stories and practices of the Kuku Yalanji people. As an Australian interested in indigenous culture this has been my favourite Aboriginal cultural experience. There is acknowledgment of the past and losses that have resulted, but the focus is on the joy that remains in the knowledge and practices that remain intact. There is plenty of general local history and knowledge shared too.

My family and I felt that Juan was inviting us into his home as a guest or extended family member. Thanks Juan. We were privileged to get this experience with you. The crab we caught with Harry, and that you cooked for us, was pretty good too. I can still taste the chilli sauce.

A friend recommended this tour to us, & I will now be recommending it to all who travel to FNQ as a must-do. We went out with our boys aged 4 & 8 and although some parts were really out of their usual comfort zone, Juan was so engaging and quietly chugged them along. We had an incredible day & Juan has gifted us with stories we will share for the rest of our life.

We (parents and 12yo & 16yo) all loved this tour.

Juan (and his daughter who was on school holidays) showed us a very informative and action packed afternoon tour. We learned about the local indigenous culture, both past and present, we spent a couple of hours with a spear in hand searching for mud crabs, mussels and periwinkles in the mangroves at low tide, then cooked our findings, and ate them, while learning more about the region at his parents place nearby to the beach.

We then went into the rainforest for a swim and more education of local plants and their medicinal qualities, and bush foods.

As Juan said during the tour - it is a mirror of how he spent much of his youth; fishing and hunting at the beach in the morning, then heading to the rainforest in the afternoon.

      Highly recommended :)

We loved this tour! We loved going out with Juan and his friend. They shared their personal stories of their families and lives. My guys even ate some green ants along the way. We went hunting for mud crabs and periwinkles. Then they made us a lunch with our catch while we swam in the river. The lunch was great! We had an amazing day. We all agreed this was the best part of our AU vacation.
