    Freycinet National Park
Stop: 11 hours - Admission included
We depart Hobart heading east then following the coastline north. We travel through the seaside towns of Orford and Swansea as we make our way to Freycinet National Park. Freycinet is one of Tasmania’s first National Parks, famous for its rich and stunning coastal landscapes. Pink Granite Mountains form the backdrop for secluded bays, pristine waters, white sandy beaches, local wildlife and amazing walking trails. As we enter the Freycinet peninsula, we have a brief stop at the Freycinet Marine Farm for anyone interested in the local oysters fresh from the surrounding waters. We walk as a group to the Wineglass Bay Lookout, this is a moderate uphill walk of around 45 minutes. Once at the top you are rewarded with that world – famous view of Wineglass Bay and the stunning Freycinet National Park. Enjoy the moment, take in the views and let our guides help you with those sought after photographs. The walk to Wineglass Bay Lookout is one of the Great Short Walks of Tasmania and requires good mobility and adequate fitness. It is 1.3 km uphill, before returning downhill. From the Lookout you have the option to return to the start of the walk with our tour guide, or for the keen walkers you can choose to spend the rest of your time completing the walk down to Wineglass beach. Wineglass Bay Beach Walk – This is a 2.5 hr return walk and adequate fitness is required. Our tour has ample time for you to do the full walk to Wineglass Bay Beach and return. Once on the beach you can enjoy your lunch in this stunning setting, jump in the pristine waters for a swim, or wander along the white sands. This is one of the most rewarding walks in Tasmania to a stunning location. If you prefer to select the shorter walking option, then we return from the Lookout with our Tour Guide and explore other areas of Freycinet National Park. Visit Honeymoon Bay, Sleepy Bay, Cape Tourville Lighthouse & Great Short Walk. After a very full 4 – 5 hours at Freycinet National Park we begin the trip back to Hobart. We have a short stop to see the local highlight, convict built Spikey Bridge and no trip to the East Coast is complete without a stop at the delicious Kate’s Berry Farm. Kate is serving up Berry Ice-creams, desserts and other sweet delights such as jams, sauces, chocolates and jellies, a delectable way to finish the day! We return to your Hobart City accommodation around 6.30 – 7.00pm. (Airport Drop Offs around 6.00 – 6.30pm – available only with arrangement at time of booking)

Beautiful and ACTIVE day trip
Mar 2020
I did this tour as part of the 'Big Three' three-day tour from Hobart to Launceston. The weather on the day of the tour was not ideal, lightly raining nearly the entire day, but I still had a lot of fun. The day started early picking everyone up from their hotels before making a quick stop shortly outside of Hobart for anyone needing to purchase lunch to take with them for the day. We made one additional stop along a beach before getting to the Freycinet National Park. From there, we had three options of walks, a short walk to a cafe/lunch spot, a walk to Wineglass Bay Lookout (a 45-minute uphill walk), or the option to extend your walk to the actual sands of Wineglass Bay (approximately 2.5 hours). Normally, I would have chosen the longer walk, but given the weather was rainy, and the guide advised there were a couple of sections of the walk to be careful on, our group of four opted for the walk to the lookout. Two of the members of the group stopped halfway to the lookout before turning to head towards the van as it was an uphill climb and a bit too much for them. After taking in the views overlooking Wineglass Bay, we headed to Honeymoon Bay and did the Cape Tourville Lighthouse Walk. The description says you stop at the Freycinet Marine Farm for oysters, but we did not, so maybe that is a seasonal thing. Because I did this as part of the 'Big Three' tour, I then switched buses to go to Launceston instead of back to Hobart so I can't comment on the trip to the Berry Farm. Overall, the day was long and tiring, but fun, and I learned a lot from the guides.

A nice hike to the lookout
Andrew picked us up on time and he was nice chatty guide. The itinerary was as following
Stop 1: Sorell to grab a coffee and if needed get lunch as well. You might consider bringing packed lunch as this place doesn't have a lot of options.
Stop 2: Marine farm. The aim of this stop is those who fancy oysters or mussels to get a takeaway to have lunch later. Apart from oysters & mussels they only do fish and chips as takeaway. However as the lunch break is a lot later in the day better not have fish and chips as takeaway. I wish they didn't have this stop at all. The reason I am giving 4 stars to this trip.
Stop 3: Freycinet park to hike to the lookout for wine glass bay. The hike is worth for the view. You will get 2 options either do short walk and go to honeymoon bay for lunch or do a long walk and take your lunch at wineglass bay. From the lookout to the wineglass bay is 1000 steps (return to wineglass bay by climbing back those 1000 steps). Because my friends and I did short walk so our next stop was 4.
Stop 4: lunch at honeymoon bay. Very beautiful view to enjoy your picnic lunch.
Stop 5: light house. Nice view from the light house
Stop 6: Andrew dropped us at Sleepy bay for 20 mins to get the people who were doing long walk. The walk to sleepy way is breathtaking picture perfect. But 20 mins is not sufficient you have to rush yourself and not suitable for elderly people or anyone without fitness. I wish instead of the stop at Marine farm if we had been given more time here ... it would have been great.
Stop 7: Kate's berry farm... you MUST try their ice cream.

Alright but long drive
Nov 2019
This is a full day trip but 5hours will be spent on the road as it is a 2.5hours drive from Hobart to the National Park.

Our guide was Dan. He was punctual and informative, took care of the whole group. We stopped by a local bakery to buy our own sandwiches for lunch, which Dan kept in a cooler bag. There are no drinks or food for purchase at the National Park.

Freycinet Marine Farm : We tried the oysters. It was oksy, we prefer the ones we had at Hobart Waterfront (bigger and fresher).

1st Walk : to Wineglass Bay Lookout - moderate uphill walk of around 45 minutes. During the walk there was not really very much to see except trees and an occasional opening. The view of Wineglass Bay at the end is rewarding enough but the lookout area is small and was crowded (with loud tourists),

We took the shorter walking option (did not do the Beach Walk which is 1000 steps). Our guide, Dan, drove us to Honeymoon Bay, Cape Tourville Lighthouse and another beach. Cape Tourville Lighthouse was a pleasant short walk with a very rewarding 360C view of the ocean and the National Park.

Kate's Berry Farm : guess this is a stop to break up the long drive. Good enough coffee and ice-cream.

Overall, it was a reasonably good day trip and we were lucky with the weather. However, it is not something we would do again if we visit Hobart again.

It is fantastic to hear that you were able to visit all of the highlights on our Wineglass Bay & Freycinet Active Day Tour - Wineglass Bay Lookout, Honeymoon Bay, Sleepy Bay & the Cape Tourville Lighthouse walk. Along the way you have also had time to visit Freycinet Marine Farm and Kate's Berry Farm. It is around a 2.5 hour drive from Hobart to the Freycinet National Park travelling along the Great Eastern Drive of Tasmania.  We love Freycinet and we love Wineglass Bay including all of the hikes in the area.  We do find that it is well worth the drive time to visit one of Tasmania's Iconic natural attractions that has also been voted as one of the World's Top 10 beaches! We offer a range of different stops along the way, refreshments stops, great views and lookouts, local produce - this all helps to break up the drive and allows us to explore a little more of the beautiful East Coast of Tasmania along the way.

Another amazing day
Nov 2019
I, once again, had Andrew for my tour guide. There was only one other person on the tour with me, so we got to do a few extra excursions. With that being said, Andrew was super open to do whatever we wanted, and let us stay at the site for as long as we wanted. The drive to the park is a long one, but it's completely do-able (especially if you have Andrew, he'll keep you entertained and the ride goes by fast). I assumed that we would only be visiting Wineglass Bay, but boy was I wrong. We went to a few different lookouts, and a few other bays in Freycinet. Andrew was with us the entire time, and he would point out the different types of wildlife and views surrounding us. Overall, it was a really amazing day, and I loved this tour. Hopefully you'll be in a smaller tour group so you can do extra stuff, but I'm sure if you're in a larger one you'll still get an awesome tour.

Great day in Tasmania
Oct 2019
Our guide Nick was great. The weather outlook wasn’t the best so he shuffled the tour stops so we actually got to see everything before the rain set in. The views in Frecinet and at Wineglass Bay are beautiful. Nick explained all of the local plants and wildlife while we hiked. Nick also explained the local history and culture of Tasmania and Australia. I highly recommend this tour.

Lovely trip
Mar 2019 • Solo
Picked up by tour guide Jack who was excellent, very knowledgable and friendly. Learnt a lot on the way up there about Tassie and the local wildlife and enjoyed the fresh seafood lunch. Jack was very flexible with the group (if people wanted to get takeaway lunch and see the sea that was fine or stay and eat etc) and he ferried us about happily showing us beautiful hidden beaches off the beaten track on route.
Wineglass bay was lovely. The group split between those who wanted to do the long or the short hike, I did the long one and really enjoyed exploring the beach.
There seem to be a few grumbles about a long time in the van on the thread but aside from magic I don't see how that could be changed and the minibus was certainly comfortable enough! A long but lovely day and would recommend.

A LONG time in the van
Jan 2019 • Couples
Visited here last week and while our guide, Rick, was fantastic you do spend a long time in the van.
I don't know why but we never went to the Marine farm for lunch...instead we stopped at some cafe on the way that had NO power and were asked to buy our lunch to take with us. Rick did provide an esky to put it in but by the time we ate it (several hours later) it had become a little soggy......
As someone else said it is upwards of FIVE hours driving (there and back) and while the view is nice I dont think I would do it again.

Hi! Thanks for your feedback regarding your Day Tour to Wineglass Bay & Freycinet National Park. It certainly is BIG day out, with a 2.5 hour drive from Hobart to reach Freycinet National Park on the East Coast of Tasmania. The drive along the East Coast is definitely a beautiful drive, also known as the Great Eastern Drive and takes in many breathtaking views and white sandy beaches, we have stops along the way to take in these views and to look across to Maria Island and learn a little about the local area. We do make a stop along the way for you to collect lunch supplies to take with you, if you have not pre-packed a lunch. Once we arrive at Freycinet National Park we undertake a series of walks in the National Park visiting different highlights. You have the option to do the extended walk down to Wineglass Bay beach OR the shorter walk to the Wineglass Bay Lookout with other stops in the park. We have a lunch break during this time in the National Park while exploring. On this day tour, our lunch stop is either at the stunning Honeymoon Bay or on the iconic Wineglass Bay beach, depending on which walking option you have selected on the day. We do not stop in restaurants or cafes for lunch on this tour, or in fact on any of our Active Day Tours, choosing to spend as much time exploring as we can, and enjoying a short lunch break somewhere scenic in the National Park! We offer many Active Day Tours throughout Tasmania, most of these have less driving time than the Freycinet National Park tour day. Perhaps on another visit you may wish to join us to Maria Island. This provides great walking options, amazing coastal scenery and wildlife, and a much shorter drive time! Thanks again for joining us here in Tasmania.
