About
When your cruise ship docks in Auckland, enjoy a shore excursion to experience the best of the Maori culture. See the Tamaki Makaurau area (Auckland) with a highly knowledgeable Maori guide, and become immersed in New Zealand’s indigenous 'tikanga' (culture). You'll learn about a rich cultural heritage dating back hundreds of years and hear about the Maori leaders who helped shape New Zealand into a modern nation.

What to expect
  • When your cruise ship pulls into port in Auckland, join a Maori-guided small-group tour and see the sights through an indigenous lens. After port pickup, you’ll travel to the Waitakere Ranges for a bush walk in the ancient subtropical rainforest. Learn about flora and fauna native to Tamaki Makaurau— the Auckland region—and discover their significance via a Maori worldview.  Your full-day sightseeing tour includes snacks, beverages, and lunch along with a stroll along the black-sand beaches and windswept cliffs of the North Island’s west coast.  Follow up with a visit to Devonport, where Patuone, one of the chief negotiators of the Treaty of Waitangi is buried. Here, your guide shares anecdotes about the Maori leaders who signed Aotearoa’s/New Zealand’s founding document in 1840. Also explore scenic Tamaki Drive, a coastal road that skims Waitemata Harbour. Your tour also includes a Maori cultural performance at Auckland Museum that includes the Haka war dance. Your small-group tour ends with port drop-off. Worry-free Shore Excursion: We will ensure your timely return to the Auckland port of this activity. In the rare event that your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. If your ship is delayed and you are unable to attend this activity, your money will be refunded. See our terms and conditions for full details.

Keri, Peter, and Nina are a class act. They gave us incredible information, history, stories, plus they were so much fun! I miss them. We started out as a tour but left as dear friends. We saw breathtaking sights of the city, coast, and rainforest. This is a day I will treasure for the rest of my life. It was our best tour in all New Zealand and Australia.

We really appreciate you taking the time to write this great review of your tour, and our wonderful guides Keri, Peter & Nina. Our Auckland Shore Excursions include free pickup from and return to your cruise ship, all transport, a fully guided and high-quality tour with us, snacks, hot/cold drinks, a great lunch on full day tours. Our guides are all passionate about what they do, and they make our unique experiences so memorable for our valued manuhiri (guests). We hope that you’ll have the chance to come and visit us again. Thanks again, and ka kite ano (see you again soon!) Neill & Ceillhe Sperath

Our cultural tour of Auckland probably carried the lowest expectations of any day of our 2 week trip, but Keri (our guide) made it one of the best days we had! What we learned of the Maori culture, and the many things we saw on both the east and west coast of Auckland (as well as our lunch in Devonport) were all outstanding!

Kiaora Patrick, nga mihi nui ki a koe! Special greetings in Maori to you! Thanks for your honesty as most people who take our Maori are pleasantly surprised by what we have to offer. We hear these types of comments often and is one of the reasons our Auckland Maori tours are one of our most popular and multi global award winning tours! We realise that to share our living culture we have to ensure we share ourselves and our Kaiarahi (host-guides) are the key to the experience and tailoring it to your interests. Our company name TIME stands for 'To Integrate Maori Experiences'. Keri is a natural host and a wonderful cultural ambassador with her lifetime commitment to upholding our tikanga (customs) and all things Maori through education of our young people and her own journey of discovery. As she will tell you being on tour provides the best way for her to share her love for her culture and our people with manuhiri (valued visitors) like you who obviously got more than they bargained for. Noho ora mai (take care) Ceillhe

Our guide was so knowledgeable and being a Maori herself, she was able to give us so much information and insight about the Maori culture. Thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this tour.
