About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- FoDTours0 contributionsDon't Play Russian Roulette with Your Day in AucklandBeware this company! Sadly we must echo the sentiments of the other poor reviews below. Maybe there are some good guides, but you play Russian Roulette here. We booked our tour on Viator but the company did not deliver what they promised. We booked a tour for our travel group over 6 months in advance for our 1 day in the city. The tour promised a qualified guide with commentary. What they delivered was a very nice man who drove around, yet barely uttered 6 words over many hours. There is nothing more uncomfortable that silence over hours on what is supposed to be a guided tour. The two things he did tell our group were completely false and his few other communications were asking my guests questions about America. The most important information shared was that he usually picks guests up at the airport and brings them to their hotels: so not a guide. The pace and content of the tour was also not as listed. It was a confusing day. When we contacted the company for a partial refund, they told us we should have "called during the tour" to complain and that our driver was absolutely a trained guide, as if we had local cell service or that would have made a difference. We asked for a 25% refund, which we thought fair, and they offered us $7 per person back on 4 hour tour that cost over $100USD per person. Sorry, but they ruined our one day in Auckland. BEWARE!!!!!Written 8 January 2025
- Edipreta0 contributionsWorth the timeAlfredo was an excellent guide. Trip was flawless. Glow worms were very interesting. The boat ride was the hit of the trip. The geysers on the second half of the trip were also very interestingWritten 23 January 2024
- Dakid010 contributionsPrivate tour disappointment!!!!Driver provided VERY little information or comments. Covered wide range of geography/landscape of Aukland with a lot of “dead air”. Would have preferred more info & insights (historical & contemporary. Disappointing!Written 25 March 2023
- Philip C0 contributionsTotal rip-off!!!“Private” cave tour is a glorified Uber ride to the caves, where you then tour with the rest of the public… this company is a bunch of crooks.Written 16 July 2021
- K7293HPjosephh0 contributionsJoe and Jaime visitWonderful day trip to the glow worms and the Hobbit farm Driver was the best and took great care of us Long day but worth the expense of a private carWritten 15 March 2020
- Jerry and Nancy D0 contributionsAn Auckland Drive AboutWe had an Auckland drive around with an airport transfer driver rather than a professional guide. While she was pleasant enough, it was not a tour that enlightened us with the city and countrside highlights. We had to ask questions to find out details. Stick with Tours by Locals.Written 24 February 2020
- Livelovebe0 contributionsAuckland City Countryside TourOur tour of Auckland was delightful! Gary, our driver, was knowledgeable about his beautiful city and countryside. I wish we had more time to explore designated tour locals. Overall, we enjoyed our tour. I would recommend this excursion, for anyone with limited time in Auckland, to experience a taste of the city and countryside.Written 28 September 2019
- Helen S0 contributionsInterestingThe caves were really great and we found the information about the glowworms really interesting. Rotorua itself was not so great since we just drove around the town. We did, however stop at Te Puia, a destination for visitors featuring the Pohutu Geyser impressive as Old Faithful), Maori cultural performances (interesting, but felt a bit touristy), live Kiwi (hard to see in the dark environment), and boiling mud pools. Te Puia is also the home of the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute, and acts as a guardian and developer of the traditional Maori skills of carving and weaving for future generations. It was really interesting seeing what is done and seeing samples of the carving and weaving. The Whakarewarewa geothermal valley extends for generations and the guides have links to Rotorua’s Maori ancestors.Written 13 February 2019
- 53cecilys0 contributionsNew Zealand countryside5 hours well spent. A totally enjoyable drive to places you would never usually find. An amazing waterfall and walk to the top of Mt Eden highlights. Would highly recommend this tour and Ash our guide.Written 15 January 2019
- frequent_traveler2000 contributionsNot good valueWe booked a private tour of the Glowworm Caves via Legend because we were doing as a day trip from Auckland. It was one of the most expensive activities we did (only helicopter tour more expensive) and it was not good value for the return. The Glowworm Caves were interesting...and the tour of the caves is conducted by employees of the caves, not Legend. But it was a long drive (2.5 hours each way) for the caves, the tour of which takes only about 45 min. Most people pair the Caves with Hobbinton but we werre not interested in touring a movie set. The description of the tour said it included Auckland highlights (by car) as well, though our driver did not do that. I would not recommend doing the Glowworm Caves as a day trip from Auckland; they are interesting if you are in the neighborhood, but not worth a detour. The tour of the caves itself is not expensive; we paid alot for the driver to take us there an back.Written 3 March 2018
- Anders K0 contributionsNot what it was made out to beGoing into the experience, we expected a full day of exploring and learning with a private guide, but instead it looked like this: 7.30-11am: Drive from Auckland to Waitomo 11am-12pm: Group Tour with 50-odd people at the Waitomo Caves, a nice enough place, but crowded and nothing private about it. 12-2.30pm: Drive from Waitomo to Auckland We spent twice as much time in a van driving to and from the caves than we did actually exploring. The description is misrepresented as there is nothing private about the Waitomo Caves tour.Written 28 January 2018
- 70AngCN0 contributionsFantastic and full day in AucklandWe travelled to Auckland via cruise ship and chose to use Legends for a 6 hour sightseeing trip. Trevor, our guide, for the day was brilliant. He collected us from the port and then proceeded to show us Auckland and surrounding areas. He was very accomodating / flexible to the itinerary considering we had teenagers to entertain too!! Thanks to Trevor’s knowledge of the local area we saw and learnt a lot about Auckland. We returned to the cruise ship exhausted and with lots of great memories!! Well done to all at Legends for your great work and communication through tour the booking process.Written 2 January 2018
- Darren L0 contributionsHalf Day and Airport TransferWe were arriving by ship early on a Monday and had about 4 hours to see Auckland before getting to the airport. We had a little confusion when being met - but that was quickly sorted. The driver was quite knowledgeable about the area and suggested that an alternative to sitting in Auckland traffic most of the morning we visit the west coast to see the Muriwai Gannet Colony. It was probably about a 1 hour drive, but he explained a great deal about the area along the way. The Gannet Colony was amazing - we probably spent just about an hour there. We then stopped at a small cafe nearby for a cup of coffee and muffin. He chose a different path back to Auckland and the airport, for variety. We were on time and had a pleasant morning.Written 12 March 2017
- 007Damselfly0 contributionsVery Pleasant trip! Driver was extremely knowledgeable!!!We were tired of the large tour groups that our travel agent had been booking us on so we jumped ship! Used this for a trip to Hobbiton ++. Drive was very well informed and accomodating! We would use them again and it was a very pleasant day!! Must try!Written 24 January 2017
- WaikikiWanderers0 contributionsExcellent transportation serviceWe used Legends to get to/from the Auckland Airport. The drivers were great, helped with our luggage and gave us a mini tour while driving.Written 14 May 2016

Cual seria el tiempo de duracion total de la excursion?
Cual seria el costo de las entradas de los lugares que se visitan?
Cual seria el costo adicional por un guia en español?
