- perrybT2225UD0 contributionsGreat starting point to a NZ holidayMike is a lovely guy and really knows his stuff. Not only is the trip scientifically interesting, you also get a really good introduction to New Zealand / Maori history and culture and a really good look around the outskirts of Auckland as well as some great photograph opportunities of the city.Written 6 November 2024
- omlet610 contributionsFab day with Harriet covering the Auckland area!Took this tour on a cruise stop. We had a great day with Harriet on this tour. She's engaging and knowledgeable and her information was very informative. There were only 4 of us in her SUV and it was wonderful to not be on another bus. Great views from extinct volcano outside the city and quite a winding ride over to the west coast lookouts and Beach. We hit low tide which was perfect. it allowed us to walk to a secluded area of the rocky cliff beach and even peak into a penguin hole! The Kauri tree was impressive and we really enjoyed the walk through the forest. Missed the waterfall as the primary road was closed but everything else was on point!Written 4 November 2024
- 32teelet0 contributionsBeautiful Sunday!Harriet was amazing! Great tour, it is not too long and you can still see many places! Would recommend for sure :) + you can have a lot of great tips where else to go or what to do in Auckland. Thank you, was a great Sunday!Written 3 November 2024

- Elainefacs0 contributionsAuckland Volcanos, a great dayThis full day tour is good for those who like volcanos, but also those who like scenery. You can include varying amounts of walking. I had injured my knee a few days before this tour and Mike was able to make several accomdations for me. You will see many Volcanos and Mike will explain the volcanos and their significance to the area. The scenery from the volcano's rims was magnificent. Mike is very personable, knowledgeable, and well traveled himself. Truly an enjoyable day.Written 21 October 2024
- T1433WEkatherineg0 contributionsAmazing Tour Worth DoingThis is an amazing tour that takes you up multiple volcanoes and shows you amazing scenery and views. Mike is friendly and very knowledgable about the landscape and history of the area. The smaller group number compared to other tours allowed for a really personalised experience. Mike communicated via text, was clear on where to meet, and was on time picking us up - all great starts for a tour. His commentary on the 4 craters, Māori history, as well as Auckland’s history was appreciated and interesting. Finally, we commend him on his flexibility. He very kindly dropped us off at the Auckland War Memorial Museum rather than taking us back to our pickup spot. And I’d suggest anyone who joins this tour do the same as the tour and the museum complemented each other nicely. Thx Mike!!

This half day tour was a brilliant way to explore the city's volcanoes. Our tour guide, Mike, was extremely informative with regards to the geography and history of these sites, and their significance to Maori culture.
The views from outside the craters were incredible, particularly at Mount Eden (the last stop). Mostly around South Auckland, it felt like we saw a lot within 5 hours. Highly recommend this tour!

This tour is really well run but the star attraction is the guide Louise. She is informative and makes everything more exciting and interesting. This is a long tour and it probably does not need as much time at the Maori And geyser area. Might be nice if they cut that shorter and spent and hour in Rotorua downtown. Still, well worth the time!

Unfortunately the guide was not very friendly & he was rushing me from stop to stop, even though I was the only client.
No flexibility. He could have mentioned when I called him from the airport that I was the only one. I could have taken the Sky Train. But I took an expensive taxi - $75 from airport so that I would not be late and hold any body up.

Hi, is this Nabeel? I’m so sorry if you thought you were rushed - I thought we had a great time together. I enjoyed talking to you and about your yoga business. I think I just wanted to make sure that you could get to the pickup point on time, as I can’t do airport pickups sorry. I didn’t intend to rush you. I don’t think I rushed you on the tour itself? Anyway, I hope your business is going well. Cheers!

Mike was a personable and knowledgeable guide with a long history of the area.
We thoroughly enjoyed the day and the sights.
It was interesting to compare the geology and flora of our different, yet similar island homes.

A terrific tour. You will come away with a deeper understanding of New Zealand's history and Auckland's volcanoes, and some spectacular views and photos. There are several moderate hikes which will allow you to get in some exercise as well. Michael is a very friendly and knowledgeable guide.

My wife is in good condition, but has minor arthritis in her knees. Should she be able to do this trip?
Written 20 October 2019
The guide offers two options, a half day and full day. I did the half day which ended about 14:00 at Mount Eden. The guide mentioned the full day went until about 17:00. But, you don't actually leave the greater Auckland metro area. Auckland is unique in that it has 53 dormant volcanoes within the city itself. So, it was only a 15 minute drive from the end of the tour back to the pick up point in the city center near the harbor.

when we stop for lunch, are we at a restaurant or do we need to pack lunch for ourselves?
Written 3 May 2018
I believed this half day tour does not provide lunch. However, Mike did suggest to me that we can take a coffee break along the way since I m the only guest and we are ahead of our schedule that day. Perhaps you can ask Mike if you need a coffee break.
