Got lucky!
Feb 2019 • Solo
As I reserved an evening session at the last minue, I figures wrongly that it would be sold out. I was in great luck, because it wasn't. And it was a hit. We went into the mangrove forests, where we were lucky enough to see some spotted shags. The highlight came when we kayaked towards the waterfall, and I was able to jump out and take a swim into the waterfall. This is a luxury in New Zealand that, due to the presence of crocodiles, one would not have in Northern Australia. Moreover, you can swim behind the falls, getting really cool action cam photos. I forgot the guide's name, but he was very friendly.

Ben and Dan were awesome
Feb 2019 • Solo
What I loved about this tour was how friendly and funny the staff were, kayaking through the mangroves and going under the waterfall on the kayak as well.

What I didn’t like about the tour was that it is advertised as a night tour and you have to pay an extra $10 to do this tour however it is still light out on arriving back and there was not even a sunset because you get back before the sun sets also.

So sadly I am just left wondering why I had to pay an extra $10 making it $78 in total. Not very impressed with that and if the staff weren’t as attentive and engaging as they were I would have been really annoyed by this and rate 3 stars due to the sour taste it left in my mouth.

VENTURE 2019 scouts had a blast.
All the groups we sent to Ben returned raving about how informative and knowledgable he was, and how much they enjoyed kayaking through the waterfalls and mangoes.
They loved the freedom.
Ben was safety aware but also allowed a great deal of fun to be had.
Thanks Ben, I’m sure many of the scouts will go home with their stories and later return with their families.

Fun kayak activity
Jan 2019 • Family
Ben and Kelly took us out on a small boat to where the kayaks were moored and then we preceded to kayak (doubles) up the river to Haruru Falls. Kelly was very informative about the bird life and any other questions we asked on the way. They were both very friendly and we had a great time. Loved the falls and there was an opportunity to swim and go behind the waterfall if you were brave enough. Wish the tide had been in more but we really enjoyed it.

A wonderful kayaking trip! Thank you, Ben!
Oct 2018 • Solo
I went with Ben, our friendly, knowlegeable, skilled guide, and a small group on the boat up to the mouth of the river. I kayaked under mangroves, saw birds I'd never seen before, and learned how to paddle behind and through the waterfall. I'm looking forward to coming back soon. Thanks so much.

Great day out
Sep 2016 • Friends
Awesome day out on Waitangi river with Tom the instructor who was full of advice on kayaking and loads of stories about the local area. Great fun paddling through the mangroves, under trees and then going straight into the waterfall at full speed. Would recommend to anyone for a great way to spend a few hours in Paihia.

One of the most enjoyable trips we have done
Aug 2016 • Family
This was a fantastic trip and we all enjoyed it. A great way to see the Mangrove trees and the root system up close and a fantastic way to enjoy the scenery and of course the waterfall. My 16 year old boys really enjoyed it. We also tried the paddle boarding which was also great fun (had tried on the sea before which was very hard but on the river it was a lot easier). Taylor clearly knows what he is doing and adapts depending on the group and the rates are reasonable for the fun you have (especially compared to the big operators).

Amazing tour with a great guide!
Jun 2016 • Couples
Best tour I have taken to date. The tour itself is amazing as the location is super cool- you see and learn about the native plants and animals and paddle through mangrove trees and end up next to a small waterfall. That being said, that wasn't my favorite part of the tour; as cool as the location was, the best part was the amazing service that Taylor and Ruby provide- it doesn't feel like you're on a tour with a guide, but rather like you're on an adventure with a friend. Taylor and Ruby are both extremely friendly individuals and seem to strive to offer the best service they possibly can. Totally worth it for the money!

Great Kayaking Fun
Dec 2015
We had a great day with Deanne and the team kayaking through the mangroves and to the waterfall. Morning Tea at the local resort on the way back followed plus a local story. Great day and well worth the cost.

Mangroves and waterfall - what a great combination!
Aug 2015 • Family
Such a great adventure. We were picked up by Taylor in their boat and then he took us to the mangroves. We got on wetsuits, then got in the water and kayaked among the mangroves - what a cool experience!! Afterwards, we kayaked to the waterfall. My husband and I were in a double kayak and we got up to the waterfall. Both my sons, in single kayaks, went behind the falls and said it was one of the coolest things they've ever done. The waterfall itself was absolutely gorgeous! We then kayaked more through the mangroves and finally had the option of kayaking all the way back. Even though it was winter and there was a storm a few days ago, it was amazingly warm and the water was amazingly calm.
They even took pictures of us during our trip and e-mailed them all afterwards.
