This experience was nothing short of a sensational adventure. From the ‘airport’ on a pontoon on the lake in central Rotorua where we saw first a helicopter then our plane and another come in to land on the lake, moor and get refueled (fuel filler cap top of wing, kerosene from a pump on the pontoon). All happening just feet away. To the plane - an agile six seater Cessna 206 floatplane, which required some contortions to get seated in. But mainly, thanks to our pilot, Ben, 24 years old I think and what a splendid, cheerful, informative, confident and competent chap he is. And he needs to be - we banked and turned over extinct volcanoes and bright coloured volcanic lakes to, 40 minutes later, land on a river where we visited a spectacular geothermal feature and had lunch on the decking of a very nice cafe overlooking the river before flying back. Every minute memorable. It’s expensive but so well worth it.

The view were amazing! But as a photographer, it’s such a pity that I didn’t get some proper photos from this flight. From the beginning I’ve been keep asking about if I can sit on the left of the back seat because these is a big window and it’s good for photos. We were the first two passengers checked in to this flight, so I think we do have an opportunity to choose the seat first. But the pilot said we are going to pick up the other two passengers from other places. So I have to seat on the right back seat. She told me that I can change the seat after we picked up the other passengers, but actually didn’t. After the landing on tarawera, I said again that I want to sit on the left back seat, but pilot said no again because they are going to drop those passengers to somewhere outside this trip, so they have to sit on the left backside for a easy drop off. And after that, finally I got my back left seat from the drop off to the base with no view of mt Tarawera! Taking photo of mt tarawera is reason why I take this flight, but I didn’t get what I expected. So the conclusion of this is if you want to see the beautiful view of tarawera go for this flight. If you want to take good pictures maybe find some other ways.

Great scenic flight with pilot Ben. Very smooth take off and landing. Window seats for all passengers. Scenery was absolutely magnificent. Ben assisted me into and out of plane as I have Parkinson’s disease. Very thoughtful and patient. Would highly recommend this experience.

My husband and I had an amazing flight seeing the view over Mt Tarawera and walking the geothermal sites... beautiful. Our pilot Ben made it even more special -- with all of is knowledge of the area and personal touch... Great customer service!!

A fantastic experience, Ian our pilot was very informative and friendly. We were lucky with the weather and great views all around. It was great to be able to land and then walk to the top of Mount Tarawera.

We did the Tarawera Falls Volcanic Heli Hike which involved a landing at the top Mount Tarawera then being dropped off below for a ~6 mile hike to Tarawera Falls and being picked up by boat for our return. This was a great adventure. A perfect blend of heli tour and hiking. Our pilot was fantastic — she gave us a great ride and view of the volcanos, and answered all our questions about the area. Our hike to the falls was a highlight of our trip. We did not see a soul on the trail and spent half our time jumping in the crystal clear pools along the river. If you plan on going all the way to the falls, prepare to hustle; it takes a bit of time to go there and back before the boat comes!

What a fabulous experience this was! Very nice people who organise the trips, an excellent pilot - Steve - who put us all at ease and delivered an informative and entertaining commentary throughout. We had superb views of the volcanoes and the lakes and have some superb photos and memories. Thank you!

My husband and I were in Rotorua for our honeymoon. The first day we had planned this tour, the weather was not cooperating. They worked with us to get us scheduled back another day so we didn’t have to miss out, and I’m glad they did. I’d never been in a seaplane so taking off and landing from water was a unique experience. The views on the flight make the cost worth every dollar. The lakes are so beautiful, the volcano is so cool, it’s all amazing and gives you a million photo opportunities. You can take as many photos/videos as you want. Then you land at the hot pools that are only accessible by water. Ourselves and one other couple (on the plane with us) were the only ones at the hot pools so we got them all to ourselves, it was really fun. There were various pools of different levels of hot to choose from. It was a little cool to get in the lake, but you can also jump in the lake if you want. There is a small shop where you can purchase food or snacks, we got some fries before we heading back, they were good and we got a ton for pretty cheap. There are bathrooms available, changing rooms, and a spot to rinse the hot pools water off. I can’t recall his name, but our pilot was excellent and very friendly, he made us feel at ease.

We took this tour including a visit to the secret valley. Steve the pilot elected to go to the secret valley first as the weather had some low clouds we landed at the secret valley and enjoyed the walk around the thermal park. We then returned via the Mt Tarawera Volcano which he flew around to ensure everyone got good photo opportunities. Overall a very enjoyable trip with lots of interesting information.

We had a bespoke helicopter flight to surprise family while on holiday, absolutely fabulous, staff couldn’t have been more helpful from the first moment. Pilot was great, the whole experience was spot on and I cannot recommend more!

We did the dual landing, got to walk through the thermal park then helicopter flight over the mountain range to land on the volcano amazing. Tracy our pilot was brilliant, the kids loved it. Such a treat definitely recommend. Experience from start to finish was flawless…

The pilot was so great. He didn't rush us at all and the experience was 5 star. It is a memory I will never forget. Unforgettable the whole experience and the pilot going at a speed we could really take in all the scenery and his interaction and manner with us all was top class!!!!!!!!! Absolutely recommend this trip!!!!!!!!
