The service was perfect. Great driver who was funny and really informative. The map that you get is perfect to have a good information about the track. I would definitely book here again!

Dropped family off at start 7:50 am then drove to carpark. Just made 8:30 shuttle. Had to walk fast to catch up. Great walk. Lots of people on track in Jan. Worth it. Shuttle is a walk down road at end so leave family and go pickup.

An amazing experience. Highly recommend for any hiker. Some expere4ince and moderate fitness level required. My son and I booked for this expereince but the morning of, I had to pull out, due to an injury. The company were very understanding and offered me a refund for the shuttle transfer. My Son did the 20klm hike, along with many other travellers. The weather was perfect and ended up walking 3klms at the other end to meet him. Best to listen to your body, as there is a point of no retunr once you commence. Highly recommend. Spectacular scenery.

Prompt pickup, good instructions about the walk. Pickup at the end was efficient. Definitely recommend if you are doing the crossing walk.

The shuttle bus from Ketetahi to Mangatepopo is efficient and a great way to get to the start of the hike and have your car waiting for you at the end. The hike is described accurately online, it’s strenuous in places and possible with a moderate amount of fitness but if you are at all unsteady on your feet take walking poles and keep some water in reserve on the way up as the walk off the highest point of the pass is a long stretch. A nice day in December is perhaps not the time to go if you want complete solitude on your hike but even with a lot of people on the trail it’s possible to find quiet space, the views are spectacular and varied across the entire hike and well worth the effort.

We recently completed the fantastic Tongariro Alpine Crossing and after searching for the right option as to where we will park etc we chose to use Tongariro Expeditions ‘Ketetahi Park N' Ride (One Way Morning Shuttle)’. Easy-peasy! We booked in online for the 07:30 shuttle, instantly received a confirmation email confirming pickup location and details. What we really liked was the email just the day before titled ‘All go!’ Advising on the weather expected for the walk, and further info and advice on what to take. We parked up on the morning and our friendly shuttle driver Greg soon arrived, on the shuttle he gave some advice, and maps whilst waiting for any stragglers and had a few jokes which was a nice way to start the day. 8 hours later, we returned to our motorhome. We were a little dubious leaving our motorhome at the pick-up location, but it was absolutely fine, and if you’re really worried you can pay to go in private carpark (space depending) very close to the pickup location. This is through a different company though! We will use Tongariro Expedition’s again in the future and recommend them! Thanks to Mandy for answering all of our questions.

I booked in for a one way shuttle to the start of the track, leaving my car at Ketetahi Carpark ready for when I finished. I’ve completed this twice before and know the track well, comfortable that I have the physical capabilities to complete it. I made my way up the track and got to the bottom of the Red Crater where it was very low visibility. I talked with some others who were unsure about going up. I decided for myself that it was my time to turn around and go back - as has been recommended. Tongariro Expeditions handed out a ‘map’ at the start with a number to text if you need a lift from the start to your car in case you turn around. I texted this number and the reply I got was that when I get to the carpark I should hitch a ride with someone to my car - absolutely disgusting. I’m a solo female walker. This is unsafe advice given what happens to many females in this country. I asked what the cost would be to get a ride and was told it would be $100 and someone would have to be organised as no one was around. It sounded like a big inconvenience to them. I asked for this option because I didn’t have any other options and didn’t feel safe to continue the hike. After talking with my partner who was over 3 hours away, he offered to pick me up (7 hours in total return trip) because he wanted me to get home safely. When I text the number back to say I’d organised a ride, I got back “See easy 👍🏼” I’ve never been so appalled in all my life at ‘customer service’. I will NEVER be booking this company again and will not be recommending them to anyone, instead steering people well clear.

They said to take only a few brakes, on the shuttle over to the crossing, so we did. About an hour in total on the crossing. Then we had to wait 2,5 hours for the shuttle. They could have sent one or two of the shuttles since they had three that day. Everybody on those three shuttles waited an average of 1,5 hours at the end of the crossing that’s not optimized in my opinion.

Friendly and the service was fully in line with expectations. On time and gave additional practical advice on the walk.

Excellent one way service from Ketetahi to Mangatepopo for the TAC. I booked last minute and the emailed information for where to go and arrival time was spot on. Friendly and informative staff. Will use this service again.

Bus driver very informative and chatty. Gave advice on walking the track. Bus left slightly early as everyone had arrived so no pointless sitting around. One of the first companies offering this in the region so great to support them

Great service. The weather was not in our favor the day we tried to book and their advice to wait couple of days was spot on. We booked the complete service from Taupo and loved the convenience of it. The team was hepful and professional and confirmed with us the day before. The shuttle was right on time and it really made the Tongariro Alpine Crossing much easier for us. Thank you team - fantastic job!
