What to expect

Meet your driver-guide at a central location and get settled aboard the comfortable coach, then listen to informative commentary on Wellington’s history and landmarks. Pass by the neoclassical Parliament House and learn about the unusual architectural design of the Beehive (aka Executive Wing). You’ll make a stop at the heritage-listed Old St Paul’s Church to walk around and admire its timber construction. Meander the paths of the 62-acre (25-hectare) Wellington Botanic Garden, following your guide to the Begonia House and Lady Norwood Rose Garden. Opt for a scenic 5-minute ride from here to the city center on the Wellington Cable Car (own expense). Next, your coach motors up to the Mt Victoria lookout, which boasts sweeping views over Wellington, before returning to the coast. You’ll pass through Oriental Parade, Seatoun and Thorndon, and soak up the bustling atmosphere of the Wellington waterfront, before your tour ends.

Wellington City & Bays Tour
Feb 2020
We went on the Great Sight's Wellington City & Bays tour on Sunday 2nd February.
We saw the lovely waterfront, the Wellington Botanic Gardens including the Lady Norwood Rose Gardens amongst other highlights. We also travelled on the cable car which offered fantastic views at the top and must not be missed.
This trip is ideal as an introduction to Wellington.

Great excursion

Had a great morning, the coach driver John was fantastic. Loved the working sheep farm and the coast line was beautiful. We loved the whole trip as well as the laughs with the driver.

Kia ora Nice to hear you had a good time, although I'm not sure if it was our tour you went on, as we don't include a working farm in our city sights. However, we are happy you enjoyed being in Wellington, as that is all that matters. Nga mihi Janet

My review
Feb 2020 • Friends
Although the trip was good the commentary was poor. You could not hear the commentary over the air conditioning blasting. And felt it was just a drive around the bays.
No souvenirs of the trip like a free pen promoting the business.

We had an excellent tour today with Hammonds. The tour went over so much in this half day excursion. I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to Wellington.

We went on the Hammond sightseeing Wellington city sights & coastline tour. It was great. Our tour guide, Lorraine, was very knowledgeable & friendly. We covered a large area over the course of approximately 3 hours I would highly recommend this tour.

Great tour to get a first feeling of Wellington
Jan 2020 • Solo
Loraine was my guide and our small group tour (8 people in the pink bus) was very good. She has been showing us all necessary areas of town, pointed out sights and dates and we all could ask different kind of questions. I recommend this tour - I enjoyed the 3 hours.

Quick review of the city
Dec 2019
We took the half day city tour. We met Karen outside iSite. The tour was about 2.5 hours. Quick overview but a bit too brief.
