    What to Expect
Head to the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, located at the waterfront in Wellington, and gain free admission. This 1-hour tour takes place with a museum guide in the afternoon. You'll set off with a small group to explore popular exhibits with a docent who sheds light on the land of Aotearoa and its indigenous Māori people.

With collections spread over six floors of engaging, interactive displays, there are plenty of Māori and other Pacific Island cultural treasures to encounter along with New Zealand’s extraordinary natural history. Hear engaging and informative commentary on the most important works of art, and learn about the museum's unique bi-cultural partnership, which recognizes and celebrates Māori as tangata whenua — the original people of this land.

It's an ideal orientation for first-time visitors while adding depth and understanding to the Te Papa experience.

The whole museum has very interesting information on the kiwi war, earthquake and other natural disasters in New Zealand, Maori culture and many more facets of New Zealand. Must visit if you go to Wellington.

Excellent very interesting and informative .this is a must see for anyone visiting Wllington. A walk along the waterfront and a cup of coffee in the many cafes is also worthwhile.

Only negative is that we didn’t have enough time to see it all. Very moving presentation on the history of the Maori people. Allow an entire day or go over 2 days.
