About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Z1385EGkathyj0 contributionsOH A MUSTNEVER have I ever.. written a review part way through a tour but this is justified to ensure all would be wine loving travellers to Wellington book this tour. Tom greeted us warmly at our hotel which set the scene well for the day ahead. He takes photos so you don’t have to, he provides so much information and the day so far is just so memorable. How luck are we to have found this tour and more importantly our guide TomWritten 12 January 2025
- Ralph H0 contributionsThe most fantastic and interesting tour with Tom. What an exceptional guide very informative and a super kind man.Tom was a winner from the second he collected me until the end of the day. Such a considerate host. Happy to tailor the tour to my individual tastes.Written 11 January 2025
- X6732KKleannew0 contributionsMartinborough Foodie Delight Tour from Wellington, New ZealandMartinborough Foodie Delight was an awesome, fantastic, informative day out with our tour guide Janice! We were looking forward to the day and it was above our expectations! Janice pointed out so many extra areas of interest during the day and explained everything so thoroughly….it was a lot more than we expected. We truly felt spoiled by the end of the day which as much as it was a full exciting day…it was over too soon. As a local business Tom from the beginning with his friendly welcoming emails and thank you for supporting a local business really added that personal touch. We just received an email with which totally explained and reviewed exactly what saw and and did that day…a day we will remember for a very very long time. As retired dairy farmers from Canada, supporting local is always number 1 too us. THANK YOU AGAIN JANICE!!!! What a great day we had …you made us feel like family 🥰Written 7 January 2025
- jfalkner10 contributionsKaewa tours rocks! If you want first class service please choose Kaewa tours!! Everything was planned and executed perfectly!!Written 4 January 2025
- D9916BRnicoles0 contributionsFun and delicious! What a great tour! Tom was a great tor guide and chose really interesting places for the tour. My favorite part was roasting our own coffee beans. Pete at the roastery has built an amazing business. We also had a Sicilian lunch, a French cheese tasting and a beer tasting. All of the locations were so good and everything was delicious. Thanks Tom for a wonderful experience and fun day!Written 2 January 2025
- Claire W0 contributionsCome for the coffee, olive oil and crafted cider…delicious!Fabulously informative and friendly guided tour of local coffee roastery, Sicilian restaurant, olive oil and cider producer’s offers. A deep dive into the agricultural challenges and delights of Kapiti with the lovely Janice to steer us along the way. Wonderful to experience the passion and craft of people who care about eating and drinking excellent products. Thank you all!Written 26 December 2024
- Maury F0 contributionsGreat GuideTom was an excellent guide who provided detailed history and insights into New Zealand. We spent half day exploring the sights in and around Wellington. I would recommend him for your visit to the capital.Written 22 December 2024
- patriciasM1855QZ0 contributionsFull day Lord of the Rings epic tour!Tom prepared I a wonderful experience for my daughter and I with the full day Lord of the Rings tour. His was both witty and knowledgeable of not only the lord of the rings but of the culture and community of his city of Wellington and it’s architectural fabric. Was truly a highlight of our trip and would highly recommend any of the many tours with Kaewa!Written 29 November 2024
- HannahCMS0 contributionsLovely Wine TourThe drive from Wellington to the wineries was stunning. Tom was knowledgeable, extremely friendly, and laid back. We enjoyed all of the wines we tasted and bought a bottle at each stop. We would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone looking to experience greater Wellington wine country!Written 20 November 2024
- 57malcolmh0 contributions5 Stars! Our private tour with Kaewa Tours from Wellington to Martinborough was truly unforgettable! The real highlight, though, was Tom himself. There are tour guides and tour operators, and then there’s Tom and Kaewa Tours. Tom feels more like a friend showing his visiting relatives around his hometown than a traditional tour guide. His humor, knowledge, and dedication to making every tour memorable are why I couldn’t recommend Kaewa Tours highly enough!Written 2 November 2024
- 99AprilM0 contributionsKaewa Tours…just go with them!Tom met us at our hotel and, on a rainy, blowy, Sunday afternoon, gave us a delightful tour of Wellington. He was knowledgeable and considerate, and from our conversations, was able to distill our very different interests…no small feat .. thus providing us with a most pleasant afternoon. So many anecdotes , so much information…capped it off with a beer at a local brewery . What a treasure he is. Go with Tom.Written 22 October 2024
- mondemere0 contributionsAdventurous DelightsMy husband and Ispent a wonderful day with Tom Collier. After picking us up at our hotel in Wellington, we began our drive over the mountains into Martinborough, stopping first at the Rimutaka Memorial which commemorates 60,000 New Zealand troops who made the crossing between 1915 and 1919. We then visited Poppie's Winery, enjoying some fine wines and a delicious lunch. On to Greytown Honey where we donned our beekeeping suits and learned all about harvesting honey. We were able to taste their several different levels of manuka honeys. We then drove into Greytown and stopped at Schoc Chocolates, tasting too many (!) of their 60 different flavors. On the way back into Wellington, Tom made an unscheduled stop to one of the filming sites of the Lord of the Rings movies, where we were able to take a short hike and walk off some of the day's many delights. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to sample some of New Zealand's finest offerings. Thanks Tom!!!Written 19 September 2024
- marygQ9941QZ0 contributionsWorthwhile ExperienceWe had an awesome day out, great food, great coffee and great gin. Pickup and drop off from our Hotel in Wellington. Tom was an informative host with good information, a thoroughly enjoyable day. It's the second tour we have undertaken with Tom and would be happy to recommend it.Written 14 July 2024
- Road587710350410 contributionsPrivate Martinborough TourHighly recommend Kaewa Tours! We were visiting the area for the first time from the US and needed a private driver. Tom setup a Zoom to meet us live and review our needs. He setup a customized daily itinerary for the family ensuring that we got to our destinations timely and incorporated several tours along the way. He was prompt, flexible, professional, knowledgeable, knew everyone and most importantly had a great sense of humor. He became just an extension of our family. We thoroughly enjoyed New Zealand and were lucky enough to have Tom guiding us.Written 23 June 2024
- Vacation114274111190 contributionsTop wine tour with an amazing guideAn amazing trip, Tom is so knowledgeable about everything in Wellington and showed us loads of things before we even left the city. It’s a stunningly beautiful drive out of the city and a poignant stop at a WWI site before dropping into the winelands. Our first stop was probably our highlight as we stopped off at Le Gra. A small place run by a family and in a quiet side road……….heaven. The staff were amazing and after a few pictures we were told about the wines by Brian. We then had a very tasty lunch and a look around the vines. Would highly recommend this place. Our next winery was Johner Estate, proper in the sticks, but so nice. Great tastings from the really knowledgeable young lady. I was talking proper BS now so was loving it. Our last stop was in Martinborough, a place called Poppies, we had a few photos in the vines before sampling a few of the liquid goods. Again, the staff are so knowledgeable, they seem to know a lot more than me and I have been tasting wine for a lot longer than them. We then headed back to Wellington. What an experience which was for my 40th birthday and worth every penny. Tom is a very easy guy to talk to and knows answers to pretty much anything you ask him. What a stunning tour, would highly recommend to anyone want to see the winelands of Wairarapa.Written 21 June 2024

Wellington was a great city to visit. Although the weather was not very favorable that day, but our tour guide Tom from Kaewa Tours made it very special. He was very accommodating, gracious, friendly and informative. We had a bunch of awesome pictures which he took by himself and compiled for us. He accommodated our request to change the itinerary for that day due to heavy rains, and he made it possible and made sure that we enjoyed.
If you happen to visit Wellington, I strongly recommend Kaewa Tours to handle your tour and prepare the itinerary for you.
We viewed Te Papa and the QT Hotel and marvelled how the QT Hotel was moved on rails to make way for Te Papa to be built.
Waterfront walk where we put ourselves for "I" in the WELL_NGTON sign, viewed the city from virtual sculpture – now you have Halos!
Lambton Quay: On the left-hand side of the Quay was the original shoreline in January 1855. An 8.2 earthquake resulted in the land being uplifted.
Parliament Buildings and Grounds: We viewed the iconic ‘Beehive’, Houses of Parliament and the Parliamentary Library building.
Old St Pauls where Paddy took us on a guided tour through Wellington’s first Anglican Cathedral which was built in 1866. Here the American and Marine Corp flags have proudly hung since World War 2.
We drove past the official Prime Ministers residence on Tinakori Road, Thorndon – Premier House.
We drove down Bolton Street where the motorway went through the original settlers cemetery - Bolton Cemetery requiring the relocation of over 3,000 graves.
We attempted to visit Space Place adjacent to the Cable Car but unfortunately it was closed for maintenance.
We visited national museum, Te Papa.

Unfortunately we did not have much time in Wellington and wanted to spent a couple of hours at the exceptional Te papa museum, as well. Therefore we only booked the half day Scenic (highlights of) Wellington tour with Kaewa Tours. What a treat!! Tom picked the 4 of us up at the Te papa museum. We then enjoyed one of the best private tours ever! I don't think that anybody could ever see as many beautiful spots in and around Wellington in such a short time accompanied by a charming and knowleledgable guide. After the tour Tom took us back to our hotel. The following day we received a mail with a description of all the important places and highlights we have visited during the tour - attaching a dozen of wonderful photos taken of us during the tour. Thanks for a wonderful day!

Kaewa Tours exceeded all expectations and was one of the best tours we’ve ever experienced around the world. Tom & Jill reached out soon after our booking with a warm email greeting and offer to zoom with us to personalize our trip. We appreciated their genuine authenticity, kindness and professionalism. Tom made some great suggestions for our drive from Christchurch to Picton. They met us at the Wellington ferry and escorted us to drop off our rental car and take us to our hotel. The following morning Tom shared his love and knowledge in a full-day of fun, fantastic sights, good food, conversation & thoroughly experiencing Wellington. Going above and beyond, Tom took us to Te Papa and checked us in for our flight home. Tom genuinely cared about our enjoyment and experience. It is exceedingly rare to achieve the quality of relationship as quickly as we did, and we parted as friends. We highly recommend Kaewa Tours.
