Awesome Place to visit for all ages
Apr 2021
What a great spot and brilliant exhibition. Enjoyed by 7 of us ranging in age from 14-50. Lovely friendly staff, great cafe and outstanding customer service. I contacted them today as we finished our campervan holiday and I thought I may have left souvenirs we purchased at the Centre. Heard back from them almost immediately confirming I did and offering to send to me at my home address ASAP. Thanks so much - hugely appreciated and make sure you visit :)

Awesome visit
A must do when in Blenheim. Very good displays. So lifelike. It is interesting reading the information as you walk around too.
The coffee is good but there is not a huge selection for a lunch. Better for a snack.
Overall a fabulous place to visit

Great dispay
Nov 2020 • Friends
I did the WW1 experience 2 years ago and didn't have time for the WW2 experience. The WW2 has fewer planes on display (8), but they are in pristine condition and still fly, there is even a Hudson bomber on display that has crashed into the jungle (done by Weta workshop). There is even a 10 minute interactive movie where you are looking at Stalingrad while the Germans are bombing. Also displays of memorabilia to view.Value for money at $20.

Spectacular. Please visit .... LEST WE FORGET.

We had previously visited and seen the WWI exhibition and were very impressed. This WWII exhibition is surprising in that is just gets better as you go along. Unfortunately (for Omaka) when we went there weren't many visitors. This was a bonus for us as it allowed us to move at our own pace. The stories about seemingly ordinary Kiwis becoming reluctant war heroes makes you proud. The audiovisual presentation is amazing and very thought provoking. Good cafe on site too.

Out of the Ordinary!!!
Feb 2020
Tour the WWI Exhibit first, and then walk behind it to this museum to see the advances made in aviation between the two wars. The costumed figures are so well done that you expect them to move any moment. We saw rare airplanes we've never seen before. I had just read the book "The Huntress," so I was especially interested in the "Night Witches" displays of Soviet women who proved women also belonged in the air (flying up to 16 bombing missions a day.) Marvel at the world's only Auro Anson MK.1 and a Griffon powered Spitfire. Thoroughly enjoyable. Omaka is a MUST DO!

Pencil in heaps of time to wonder
We only had an hour so only saw this part of the Omaka centre.
So make sure you have the afternoon or morning spare. It’s well worth it and so much history to read and look at.

A hiding gem and a must do

We are not history buffs but it was suggested that we would enjoy the Centre. We were not disappointed and spent a lot of time reading and just digesting the amazing work put into this museum. Highly recommended.

Best WW2 aviation exhibition
I’m sitting in the onsite cafe having just left what I can only describe as a visit to the best WW2 aviation exhibition I’ve every been to. The mix of artefacts, memorabilia, stories and aircraft is extremely well presented. It has the ’feel’ of being rather than a set of fixed exhibits.
The Stalingrad experience and the statistics, presented in a dynamic setting -prepare to be bombed when you attend - is humbling and breathtaking.

Even if you don’t love planes this is still a great place to visit.
Nov 2019
I don’t usually like museums very much and a quick dash from the entry to exit doors is enough, but visited this one on recommendation of Heather (Marlborough Tours).
THIS MUEUM IS DIFFERENT! Spent a few hours in the WW2 exhibition alone - engaging displays, amazing collection of memorabilia and personal stories. A truly special way of marking Remembrance Day (11th Nov). New Zealand certainly knows how to do museums!
