Milford Sound Scenic Cruise

    What to Expect
Make your own way to the Milford Sound Visitor Center in the Fiordland National Park to board your boat, then set sail across the startling blue waters of Milford Sound. Keep your camera close to hand as you cruise out across the fjord and admire natural wonders like the 525-foot (160-meter) high Bowen Falls, the striking hanging valley of Sinbad Gully, and the snow-capped peak of Mount Pembroke.

Climb onto your boat’s viewing platform to get a better view of the local wildlife, including colonies of fur seals, pods of dusky dolphins, and the rare Fiordland crested penguins. As you continue towards the Tasman Sea coast, pass beneath the distinctive 5,551-foot (1,692 meter) mountain of Mitre Peak, one of New Zealand’s most photographed landmarks.

As you turn back into Milford Sound, see the dramatic approach witnessed by the first settlers at the end of the 18th-century, and hear stories about their journey from your guide’s live on-board commentary. After two hours on the water, cruise back to shore and head back to the Milford Sound Visitor Centre, where your tour ends.

If you're comparing which boat to cruise Milford Sound in, I'm telling you it should be Mitre Peak. When we were walking along the docks to found our boat, we noticed that this was a much smaller vessel than the other companies. This meant that...More

Chose Mitre Peak Cruises because they have a smaller boat and certainly was not disappointed. Less people meant it was easier to get around and get that perfect picture. Based on what the other larger boats were doing we went further out of the Sound...More

Our captain and host (Ryan) were fantastic and made the cruise so interesting. The small boat (in contrast to the much larger boats other companies use) allowed us to go right up to the edge of the cliffs, get under the waterfalls, and get right...More

Loved this cruise. The boat was a bit smaller compared to other operators which was really good. We went a long way up the sound and there was commentary from the crew throughout. The scenery is breathtaking. We got close up to the seals and...More

We loved the Milford Sound cruise with Mitre Peak Cruises for several reasons: 1) it’s a smaller group than a lot of the other companies who offer trips to Milford Sound so it feels more intimate and exclusive 2) Pauline Kenna, our tour guide was...More

We drove from Te Anau to Milford Sound and it was an easy drive, but it was breathtaking! Driving yourself you get to stop along the way and see the different areas, walk around, and take pictures.
