Best tour in town
May 2021 • Couples
Fabulous experience with breathtaking view. We had the best lady driver, fun, knowledgeable. We not only get to see the wonderful mountain and river view in the 4WD, we also get to know the history of the town. Have to mention she is also a magnificent singer.
Thanks for the nice memories, will do it again for sure.

Best day ever
May 2020 • Friends
One of the best activities to do in Queenstown even for non-LOTR fans. The scenery is beautiful and many other films were shot there. The food was delicious and the both the guides- Shane and Francesco - were super knowledgeable and charismatic.

Awesome experience
These guys take a lot of pride in what they do, and there’s never been a better time to come and support them. We did a half day trip with Justin - we were the only people in the car, and had an awesome time with him. Great and knowledgeable guide, great route, and just generally a wonderful afternoon - you don’t need to be a lord of the rings fan to have a great time. Thanks guys - we’ll be back to do Macetown!

My wife and I went on this tour by Nomad safaris and had a great time. The scenery was fantastic. We even dressed up in Lord of the Rings outfits and had a sword fight.

Fantastic tour with great sights and hobbits
We loved Graham and his knowledge and he managed our time well to see every possible stop. We loved dressing up in the woods as hobbits with real weapons. The lunch provided because we booked another same half day tour with them was superb.

Enjoyable tour
Mar 2020 • Couples
We did the full day tour which started with this one. Picked up promptly and you drive up to some locations. WARNING. You do not go to *most* of the locations on the website (you would need a helicopter and more than a day), but rather go to spots where you can see the locations. You do go to some physically (lothlorien forest, where you dress up and play).

Our guide Jill was wonderfully chatty, friendly and great at taking pictures of us. You also have a tea and cake stop in the forest.

On the full day tour you get a food voucher for a local restaurant in Queenstown which was very good, then do the second half which includes more locations and riding through the river in the 4x4

Overall an enjoyable day, though I would say it was a tad expensive.

Not worth a dime
Biggest tourist scam I have experienced in my 3 weeks while touring New Zealand. I wouldn’t recommend this activity to anyone - not worth the price tag.

My brother and I, we are huge LOTR fans and was really looking forward to an exciting half-day trip with Nomad Safaries in LOTR country.

We got loaded into this old broken Landcruiser with windows not suited for people above 1,8m height and drove around with a driver telling us stories. Stories were interesting but not in a million years worth the price tag on 340NZD.
We did a few stops (7 if I’m counting correctly) but drove in areas accessible for everyone - so basically you are paying a fortune for getting carsick and listening to stories. An overall disappointing experience.

Instead of wasting your money on this scam, ask a local taxi driver to take you to the Glenorchy while telling you local stories and pay the quarter. Or go to Glenorchy yourself and explore the beautiful nature - it is indeed beautiful and it is free.

Hi Frederik We do appreciate your feedback, and regret that on this occasion we did not meet your expectations. However I do think there are a couple important points here to address: The "old broken Landcruiser" you reference is less than two years old, in great condition with Air conditioning, and maintained to the highest standard. We have a couple pricing options- normally seating 6 in the vehicle, and yes our current rate is $225 per person. We also offer a pricing option seating 4 in the vehicle- the one you booked at $340 per person. This is what your agent booked you, and so I suggest you go back to them and ask some further questions. This is a guided tour and we pride ourselves on our small group and personal experience. Our drivers have a wealth of local knowledge and legends, only adding to the guided experience. I'd like to direct you to our MANY 5 star reviews commending us on just that- the personality of the tour. As for your suggestion of taking a taxi instead, I sourced a quote for you- from Queenstown to Paradise each way is $180, totalling $360 plus a charge of a $1 a minute for any stopping you'd like to do. We provided you with refreshments, accommodation transfers, movie props, and 4 and a half hours of a local born and bred guide and driver, as well as 7 stops. So I suggest you really had a much better deal with us. I also very much disagree with your description of us as a “scam”. We are not asking you to wire money to a cause that does not exist, or sold you tickets to a fake event. We are a company who have clearly outlined a product which you chose to purchase. And so, we while we do regret you left disappointed, I really question what it is you were expecting.

We all loved the experience. Fantastic hosting by our guide, Rob, who was very enthusiastic and informed, both about his and Queenstown's Maori heritage and the film sites. Great stuff!
