Highlights
  • Milford Sound combo: sightseeing cruise plus nature hikes
  • Walk at Mirror Lakes, Marian Cascade, and the Chasm
  • Morning tea: scones, biscuits, chocolates, and fruit juice
  • Hotel pickup and drop-off provided from Te Anau
What to expect
  • Your tour begins with morning pickup in Te Anau or Manapour and a scenic drive to Milford Sound. Stop first at Te Anau Downs and view the sheltered harbor, Bluegum Bay, which sits opposite the Middle Fiord, the starting point for the Milford Track. Then, take in views of the Earl and Livingston Mountains at Eglinton Valley. Take a short stroll along a boardwalk at Mirror Lakes to see beech forest and wetland pools. The 45th South Parallel marks the halfway point between the equator and the South Pole.  Stop next at Cascade Creek, then the Hollyford Lookout, which overlooks the Hollyford Valley and Darren Mountains. Have the option to do the walk to Marian Cascade, which tumbles from Lake Marian before pulling into Gunn’s Camp for morning tea, followed by the historic museum and gift shop. Get photo ops at Fall’s Creek and Monkey Creek, and if time allows, a quick walk leads to a point with views of the Gertrude Valley. Look for kea sightings at the east portal of the 4,166 foot (1,270 meter) long Homer Tunnel and pass through the scenic Cleddau Valley. During the last part of the journey to Milford Sound, take a short walk to The Chasm, rock formations that make up a 72-foot (22-meter) deep and narrow ravine cut by the Cleddau River. Snap photos of Mt. Tutoko, the highest mountain in Fiordland, Tutoko Bridge, and Mt. Tutoko as a backdrop. Then arrive at the departure point for your cruise. Enjoy a cruise on Milford Sound, keeping an eye out for dolphins, seals, and the Fiordland crested penguin. Your tour ends with return to your accommodation.

Fiordland Tours, way to get to Milford
Oct 2021 • Family
The trip exceed my expectations. Ray was super friendly, has a very well knowledge of the area, cold day and he had morning tea for everyone! He stopped probably in more places than the map says. Will never drive to Milford by myself anymore!

Wonderful Day Tour
We were looked after extremely well on our tour from Te Anau to Milford Sound today by Jamie. Arriving at a destination is only half the journey, getting there can often be equally as exciting. Jamie’s knowledge of the area is vast and we were both surprised and delighted when we were treated to stops at “secret spots” along the way.
The local knowledge that’s shared during tours is worth a million dollars and I would encourage everyone to ring these guys as they add so much more to an already amazing tour.

Brilliant tour up to Milford Sound
Sep 2021
We had a great day exploring Te Anau and Milford Sound with Ray. He picked us up from our accommodation and took us up to Milford Sound with plenty of amazing stops along the way. Ray was knowledgable and friendly and we learnt lots along the way. Ray provided tea and coffee and date scones and we stopped at some stunning look out points along the way. The coach was very clean and tidy. We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this trip to anyone who was looking to explore the trip up to Milford Sound.

Worth it before we got to Milford
Aug 2021
The trip was so worth it, before we even got to Milford Sound. We had seen so many beautiful places including it still snowing at the top. Ray as a guide was amazing had us on first name basis and made us all feel comfortable with each other right away.
The boat crew was also great and personable making an effort to chat to each person

Thank you for your review and the time put aside to write it. It was so enjoyable to have you aboard for the day and the snow sure clicked off the highest altitude point with some fun. Thank you for aiming your snow balls at other people and not me. We hope that you are able to return one day in the summer and enjoy the tour in warm conditions. Regards Ray

Did the full day Milford Tour with Jono as our guide. Jono was great, picked us up on time in a comfortable van, on a well rounded tour that gave us numerous stops for photo opportunities and bush walk. Nice morning tea and plenty of lunch. Good informative commentary all the way to Milford and the boat trip was fantastic on a very comfortable boat. Highly recommend trip as would have missed so much if driven ourselves

23 July 2021 - Had a great day on this tour to Milford Sound. Our tour guide Ray, was friendly, informative and very hospitable.
Ray showed us many beautiful places and gave us the history of the area in great detail. The cruise was great and Milford Sound was absolutely fantastic. It is a must do if you are in the South of NZ. Also a must do is to use Fiordland Tours.

Awesome day in Fiordland
Jul 2021
Such a great day. We felt very privileged to go with such a great tour guide (Jamie). He was a laugh and took us to a whole lot of unexpected stops that showed off some great views, wildlife and wonderfull all round experience. We had been to Milford Sound before but it was still an incredible day for us, and even better for the kids who had never been before. Highly recommended.

Must do!
We had an exceptional day on the Milford tour with Jono as our guide. We were the only ones on the tour and were very thankful to the company for taking us out! Jono knew all the fab spots to stop (including grabbing a yummy coffee in Te Anau at the start of our day - bonus). His knowledge of local history and wildlife is excellent.
We stopped off for a beautiful walk on the way - which looked over the beautiful Lake Gunn and the mirror lakes.
The tour includes an extraordinary cruise through the mountain, brilliant knowledge from the tour guides and countless opportunities to take stunning photographs of the scenery and lucky for us dolphins swam around the boat, seals were also spotted sun bathing on rocks. We also saw an array of native birds including the kea which decided to perch on our tour van.
This is a must do tour - loved every minute of it. Thanks very much Fiordland Tours!
