- NalinW_120 contributionsGreat way to view the sceneryExcellent cruise to see a wide range of scenery. The captain/ guide is incredibly knowledgeable and does an excellent commentary throughout. Comfortable launch, good bar, food and service. Unfortunately I copped a poor weather day☹️Written 18 September 2024
- RickHunterW0 contributionsGreat River Cruise experience. Best way to see Catarat GorgeAbsolutely amazing. Relaxing, fun and such great views. The 2 gentlemen Tim & James were such a hoot, providing great information, commentary and such good hands on experiences for the kids. Absolutely worth the time and dollarsWritten 2 August 2024

- GlobeTrotting5446430 contributionsNot worthwhileTo be honest you didn't see much more than you can see from the dock. I think this cruise should be cancerlled. The pilot was very good.Written 22 April 2024
- C2437RMrichards0 contributionsNot much to seeThe cruise pilot was great but in reality as far as the short cruise goes, you don’t really see much more than what you can see from the dock, sadly could not recommendWritten 17 April 2024
- oclynn10 contributionsNice tourInteresting tour to see the gorge and learn a bit about the area, the river, the city. Nice thing to do as alternative to walking the gorge.Written 11 April 2024
- 443suzj0 contributionsA Cruise without Any CommentaryDate of Cruise: 31 March 2024 We thoroughly enjoyed the river cruise, taking in the breathtaking views along the river and the Cataract Gorge. However, we were disappointed that our skipper did not give any commentary at all after he welcomed all of us on board. It would have been very informative to know the different places that we cruised by along the way as well as any other interesting information about the Gorge. ☹️😞😔Written 31 March 2024

- jeanettemU1367BH0 contributionsDay outDay trip was excellent boat not overfull and captain very informative and knowledgeable on the gorge and river areas. Boat on time and was a very relaxing hour on the water. Highly recommend the hour Boat tripWritten 10 March 2024
- Lendanear0 contributionsGood, inexpensive, interesting cruise.Nice cruise. Good value and the cruise captain was knowledgeable about the area. Informative. We were appreciative of the company as they held the cruise for a few minutes because we were a little late due to traffic. On the down side, the cruise was full when we arrived so people had to sit outside. No big deal though.Written 1 March 2024
- gwendelineb20200 contributionsCruising Cataract Gorge CurrentsThe river cruise offered an overall average experience. I opted for this trip to give my partner a break from driving, and while the river cruise wasn't exceptional, it was decent. However, the true standout moments were found at the remarkable Cataract Gorge and the historic old bridge. They were the clear highlights of our trip.Written 17 January 2024
- L4199QWsandib0 contributionsDissapointedBeautiful view of the Launceston area but unfortunately our tour guide didn't have much to say & we didn't learn anything about the Cataract Gorge. He was too busy chatting with some other guest on board & there was no goodbye or thankyou as he was still chatting to the same guests. We come on these type of river cruises to learn a bit about the area we are visiting & we learnt nothing on this one so very disappointing. Also heard some other guests saying the same thing as we came off.Written 27 December 2023

Avoid 2 + hours of torture by giving the "cruise" a miss. Thumping diesel engines, rated for 60 but barely enough seating, commentary impossible to hear if seated at the rear as the boat is driven downstream after the first 30 mins at high speed to a pointless destination. "Scenic riversides and lush bushlands" certainly but noise and vibrations totally detract. Far from relaxing.
Suggest cruise be made shorter and more leisurely.
Environmentally harmful way to see the beautiful Tamar and historic town foreshore. Unless you're desperate for a "free" muffin and thimble of wine, give it a miss !

Excellent trip. Captain and crew were very nice and gave excellent commentary without overloading.
Boat was clean and comfortable. Lovely service with a wine tasting and afternoon tea. Would highly recommend when in Launceston. (The wine was pretty average but, hey, it's a very nice touch).

We had a great time on this cruise where the staff were really cheerful and friendly. The afternoon tea was terrific with muffins, fruit cake, big biscuits and fresh fruit plus tea and coffee. Enjoyed a beer and a glass of wine from the bar as well. Can highly recommend it for a great afternoon.

Hi Tamar River Cruises, I would like thank you ever so much for our trip in December me and my family had a wonderful trip, we met Yvonne with such a nice personality and really helpful, Alfie was our skipper for the trip he offered to take my youngest down to the boat (wheelchair) there was plenty of complimentary tea and coffee, we learned a lot from the area. I would definitely recommend this trip, I have friends who’s are going on this trip in March recommended by myself. Thank you Tamar River Cruises.

My husband and I love going on Cruises when we travel, we saw the Cruise ships and decided to have a cruise. The captain was very informative and the hostess was wonderful. We had a class on Life Jackets, and sat back and enjoyed our trip, we could stand on the front of the boat with the wind in our hair, it was wonderful. Half was through the hostess gave us a wine tasting, we also had cakes, tea and coffee, fruit and it was all free. Great for singles, couples and for family's with young children. Everyone's welcome.

We enjoyed the river cruise as an entertaining way to view Launceston from the river. The cruise was smooth sailing, the captain gave an informative and entertaining commentary with points of interest and facts and stories. Jo gave a fantastic wine sampling demonstration and the afternoon tea was good. An enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours.
