An amazing experience and outstanding cafe too on site
Jun 2021
Highly recommended and coming from a couple scared of heights, this is saying something! We felt safe throughout the walk and even climbed the tower to get a better view of the landscape.

Amazing views seen over the tree tops, and information display boards on the trees at each stopping point.

We were lucky to go on a stunning blue skies day, and there were only a few other tourists, as we entered around 9am.

And really suggest you stop for lunch at the cafe, as we had the best lunch of our trip there and prices of the food and souvenirs were not inflated as you normally expect at these tourist sites. The staff were also really lovely and welcoming and we will definitely visit here again when on the West Coast .

On top of the world
May 2021 • Friends
What a sensational experience. Walking at those heights is like being on top of the world. The tower itself feels a little scary if you’re afraid of heights. Dry different to the Rotorua experience but great nonetheless.

Cheaper if you book ahead online.

Not for anyone nervous about heights.

Wasn't impressed by the online 10% discount ($3.20) which was then eroded by a 50c booking fee - might be legal but I felt it was misleading. Not too many people there when I arrived, which was just as well, as the cafe and ticket till were next to each other so the queues for each got very confused and entangled. Free umbrellas sounded like a good idea but juggling umbrella, phone and reading the guide was a pain on the narrow walkways. I don't often get an attack of vertigo but the walkway provoked one with it's wobble and see-through metal grill; I definitely wouldn't recommend this for anyone even slightly nervous of heights. I'm sure the views are fantastic on a clear sunny day but I prefer looking at the tree tops from terra firma of the valley side or the base of the trees themselves.

Great experience among the tree tops!
Mar 2021
Lovely peaceful place among the trees, birds singing and amazing views. Husband has a travel scoot that couldn’t handle the hill up to the start. He also couldn’t access the offered golf cart but no problem - Doug bought the company SUV to the door and I loaded the travel scoot in the back, hubby in passenger seat and off we went. Doug was very sympathetic to hubby’s disability and let us just do the getting in and out of the SUV in our usual manner “as we know how to do it”! Offered to come back for us after the walk to take us down to the cafe but we knew the travel scoot would be fine to take the descent quietly. The walk was great, an amazing piece of engineering. Well worth doing! 107 steps up the tower for me while hubby sat in the sun and chatted. The cantilevered part felt a bit shaky at times and looked decidedly ‘dodgy’ with no support underneath but was actually very secure and I did feel safe!! Had a lovely lunch in the cafe post- walk. Nice, clean toilets too!

Nice but to expensive
Mar 2021 • Family
Was very nice and the View was wonderful, but I understand that this walk and all the tower costs a lot, but the $32 per person is absolutely toooooooo much.

Interesting and worthwhile.

Was pouring with rain but were provided with large umbrellas. Great opportunity to gain greater understandings of the canopy level in rainforest. More interesting than I expected. Would recommend this activity.

Family holiday
Loved the walk but felt for what it was the price was a bit steep.
We have done the Rotorua one and feel that has more to it then this one for less.

Overpriced
Nov 2020 • Friends
Just south of Hokitika. The entrance fee of $32 is overpriced, a more realistic price would be $20. It is approx a 5 minute walk from the cafe to the start of the tree top walk which is 20 metres above the canopy, there is also a 47 metre tower you can climb with good views over the lake and surrounding Bush. The walk can take between 30 - 40 minutes depending on photo ops.

Honeymoon tour
It was a pretty rainy morning but we had a great time. Umbrellas are provided. There’s information available at 11 points around the walk and it’s so informative. Well worth the visit.
