Great trip. We had e-bikes which were the best we've hired so far. George the driver was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of tips on where to visit. The ride was 60 kms, but mainly downhill and easy with e-bikes.

Thanks for your review on the Spooners to Mapua. This is such a great day out and finishing in Mapua makes it even more special with the vibe of the Mapua village. As you say the ride is predominantly downhill or flat but the e-bikes make it so much more enjoyable. See you next time in Nelson, Lynnie

A great day's outing for grandmother and two kids, 13y. & 11y., all on e-bikes. It was the first time the kids had used e-bikes, and they were ecstatic, managed the full ride easily - even though we had the misfortune to have a puncture, which shortened our total distance by about two-thirds. The backup service for the puncture was prompt, efficient & friendly, in helping us figure out how to make sure we rendezvoused in time for the ferry, but also did as much of the biking as we could.

Thank you so much for your lovely review and it was such bad luck that you got a puncture. It doesn't happen often but when it does it is frustrating, but we do our best to get your riding asap. We are sorry this interrupted your ride but pleased to hear you still had an awesome ride and the Grandkids enjoyed the e-bikes. We hope to see you next time you are in Nelson. Lynnie

Pretty much can match the reviews below - even chose to go to the same places to eat, and really glad I did.
A great full-day out. Informative guides drove us to the start of the track then left us to go off on our own.
It's pretty much a three-leg trip so the places where you stop for a break and a bit to eat (Wakefield, Richmond, and Mapua) are timed perfectly.
The first 10-15 minutes of the trip is a bit of a bumpy surface but it smooths out after that (so don't worry)

Highly recommended. Do need a bit of fitness. Also ask for a seat that fits your sit bones right (still have a sore bum - but had a GREAT day)

So pleased you had a great day out doing the Nelson to Mapua full day. Yes by the time you take the diversions to get to the best cafe's/wineries then it is a 40km day or riding so some bike fitness is a great idea - although the e-bikes do take the pain out of it. Look forward to seeing you in Nelson next time - maybe put the Tunnel to town on your list. See you next time Lynnie

This ride is an absolute treat. Very interesting with constant variety in bike trail and scenery including forest, river trail, coastlal, farmland, vineyards and hop farms. Great fun riding through the Spooner Tunnel. Lots of information along the way and the route is clearly marked. Delicious morning tea at Wakefield Bakery, lunch at the Grape Escape Cafe was delightful and our perfect day ended strolling around Mapua and a refreshment at the Golden Bear Brewery. A fantastic day - money well spent. Thanks Kiwi Journeys.

Hi there and thanks for taking the time to review the Tunnel to Town (via Mapua). This is proving one of our most popular one day trips and your detailed description of the day sums it up perfectly. Always good to finish in Mapua and then get the shuttle back to Nelson, making it the perfect way to finish the day. We look forward to seeing you next time you are in Nelson. Thanks Lynnie

This was such a lot of fun! Aaron was amazingly helpful, getting our bikes sorted, lots of route tips about where to go and where to stop off and in particular, fantastic patience and encouragement for our 9 yr old to get on the bike!
Couldn’t recommend this business and team highly enough.
Great cycle tracks throughout Nelson.
