About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 68Pam270 contributionsNational Park Boat ExcursionWe booked through our Hotel. We were fortunate to have “Duck” as our Driver/Guide. Wealth of information start to finish. Saw wildlife on the boat (croc, birds, monkeys). Lunch on the Ranch was delicious. Good for couples and families and elderly.Written 5 December 2024
- brandeehopkins0 contributionsA great day!Duck, our guide was fantastic. He provided us an in depth overview of the rain forest and gave a Costa Rican history lesson on the way!Written 20 November 2024
- SonGar6110 contributionsCR untouched land and natural beautyThe tour guide,Duck or was it Doug? I couldn’t hear well in the back. He is very knowledgeable and is very professional. He mentions in there beginning to pace ourselves in order to conserve our energy. We had a private tour with ages as young as 2.5 year old to 68 years of age. Or day ended up being rain from morning till afternoon. The waterfall was a light blue-green so at least we got to see some color. It was beautiful but the 200 plus steps looked steep for my father and my 6 year old daughter. We were going to continue but wasn’t sure to with our little 2.5 year old. I think if the weather was nicer so that the steps weren’t wet we all would go down and take pictures. He let us know where the stops are for restrooms and where to get fruits and souvenirs. My parents interests are different from common western tourists . They enjoyed the waterfall but was hoping for a fruit marketplace (like a farmers market) to try out CR local exotic fruits that we don’t normally get to eat in the US! But nonetheless the tour was great. We saw snakes, sloth, many tropical fruits, bats, CR National bird. The lunch place was so cute and the food was authentic and flavorful. Butterfly mini farm was so cute the kids loved it! I think this was perfect for families not thrill seekers!! Pura Vida! Thank you for showing us beautiful Costa Rica! We all appreciated the beauty and hospitality.Written 20 August 2024
- W7631MTsandrav0 contributionsGreat learning experience!!Duck was suck a knowledgeable and caring tour guide. He clearly has a passion for his work and gave us an experience of a lifetime! These four friends on a girls trip are so grateful to have crossed paths with Duck and to have had such a rich experience here in Costa Rica!Written 5 August 2024
- matthews9000 contributionsGreat day trip to the Blue RiverThis was a great tour. Harold aka “”Doc” was a wonderful guide. He is very knowledgeable and friendly and gave us such an informative private tour of Tenorio National Park and the Blue River. The sloth sanctuary was really interesting with so much wildlife. I highly recommend this tour!Written 20 June 2024
- 268maryfrancesp0 contributionsAsk for Gabriel!!!! Incredible tour.Having traveled all over the world and having many guided tours this has to be one of the best!!! You have to ask for Gabriel. He was just amazing from the minute he picked us up. He gave us fun facts about Costa Rica and our tour was amazing. We saw everything on our bucket list- Howler monkeys, white-faces monkeys, 4 variations of crane, crocodiles- both mature and babies, 2 specifies of Iguana and their breeding grounds, bats and many other birds that were incredible. On the way out of the park Gabriel found a Scarlett Macaw’s nest and we couldn’t believe it! The Macaw was on a low branch and gave us a 10 minute show while she was preening. Lunch was amazing and some of the best chicken I’ve ever had in my life. The cook was kind enough to give me the recipe and instruction on how to cook the famous Guanacanaste chicken.Written 14 March 2024
- sarahE9770PS0 contributions10/10 - the best of CR in a dayThis was our second tour with Neotropical. We enjoyed our first tour with them so much we wanted to do another tour with our guide Duck. We are thorough travellers and enjoy learning about local culture, ecology & nature, and eating local foods. Our guide Duck is highly knowledgeable about CR and has been a guide in the country for many years which helps to learn more about history of the country & specific regions within the country. This tour allowed us to travel to another province in the country (leave the dry lowlands and go to the tropical Caribbean side) and see the volcano range, the countryside where local farmers live & manage the land, and to hike in the rainforest and learn about the weather, plants & vegetation, animals and what CR is doing to protect and share this beautiful country for generations to come. Eat at the local fruit stand!! Unreal fruit, you understand the blue zone this way & beautiful way of life in CR. The waterfall was beautiful - prepare to wear good walking/ hiking shoes, comfortable clothing and for many steps! Afterwards, you hop back in the tour van and go to a local sloth sanctuary where young local guides are learning & practising for their future careers in educating other visitors and locals in the importance of preservation of the environment & more about plans & animals that call this region home. We saw several sloths from afar (they are not caged and live wild), toucans, snakes, various bugs. Lastly, you eat at a local soda/countryside family run restaurant for a great traditional CR meal (many choices and very delicious). They also have a butterfly garden to enjoy on site. Highly recommend this tour, but more specifically our guide (Duck). He cares so much for his country, educating others, is a safe driver and most importantly is so enjoyable to spend the day with. People like Duck are the embodiment of the CR people. Pura Vida!Written 2 February 2024
- sarahE9770PS0 contributions10/10 - a wonderful way to enjoy GuanacasteThis was a wonderful tour (at first was going to be the only tour we took) - a comprehensive and educational tour to Palo Verde park to see wildlife (howler monkeys, crocodiles, many bird species) on a river boat with local guides. Then a visit to a working traditional cattle ranch (a part of Guanacaste’s history) for a Costa Rican lunch & a demo on the traditional pottery locals make. Our tour guide (Duck) was incredibly knowledgable, professional, and importantly fun and cares deeply for his clients. We enjoyed his presence so much we specifically requested him for our second tour (which we decided to take after this tour ended). I highly recommend this company - safe driving, comfortable & clean vehicles & exceptional tour guide. Book it!!Written 2 February 2024
- lolaY9317DK0 contributionsPalo Verde TourThis was my first time doing a tour like this, what a great time. I went with my family ages ranging from 11-78, everyone enjoyed themselves. It was perfect way to introduce Costa Rica to the family. We had a boat to ourselves which was such a nice experience. Harold made the tour so enjoyable. We saw monkeys, crocodiles, and beautiful birds. Took amazing photos of Costa Rica’s wildlife. Harold answered everyone’s questions. He even stopped in the way to the river so our kids could see trees full of monkeys. He then taught them how to call to them. When we visit again we will definitely have Harold take us on more tours. Look no further for a guide he is the absolute best!!!Written 8 January 2024
- lolaY9317DK0 contributionsPalo Verde TourThis was my first time on the river boat tour. It was with my family ages ranging from 11-78. What a perfect half day tour to introduce Costa Rica to the family in a relaxing way. Was able to see monkeys, crocodiles, and many beautiful birds along the river. Harold was a wealth of information about the different species and was able to answer any questions that the kids had. It was a wonderful time! We even stopped along the way to see trees full of monkeys where he taught our sons how to call them. Such a great time! - socalisun0 contributionsGreat day! Highly recommend!Highly recommend this adventure in Rio Celeste. As others have said Harold our tour guide was amazing. My wife and I had a private tour with him and on the 2 1/2 hour ride out to the National park he gave us great insight into the history, culture and geography of Costa Rica. He allowed us to move at our own pace during the day which we both appreciated. Highlights for us were of course the stunning waterfall, seeing sloths up close and a wonderful lunch. A perfect day in paradise!Written 23 May 2023

We went on the private Mega Tour with our guide Norman through the company Brothers. He was amazing from the beginning to the end. He took us zip lining, hiking at waterfalls and in a rainforest. Norman also took us to the hot springs, real hot springs, by a volcano including mud bath and hiking around the crater. Lunch was at an authentic Costa Rican restaurant and the food was delicious.
We would recommend Norman as he was knowledgeable and entertaining all day.
Thank you for an amazing day!!

If you’ve ever dreamed of experiencing the ultimate Costa Rican adventure, Rincon de la Vieja is the place to be! From soaring through the treetops on zip lines to plunging down the longest water slide in the country, this adventure-packed paradise has it all. But wait, there’s more—how about a horseback ride through stunning landscapes, a mouthwatering buffet lunch, and a relaxing soak in natural thermal baths to cap off your day? Trust me, this was a Costa Rican getaway like no other! And none of it would’ve been as incredible without our amazing guide, Gabriel, who made sure our entire family of 16 had the best experience possible.
Hold on tight because the adventure starts with a thrill-seeker’s dream—zip-lining through the lush rainforest of Rincon de la Vieja! The adrenaline was off the charts, and the views? Unbeatable. Our guide was right there every step of the way, making sure we felt safe and prepared while sharing fun facts about the incredible ecosystem we were flying through. His energy was contagious, making the experience even more unforgettable.
Now, if you thought zip-lining was exciting, wait until you experience the longest water slide in the country! This slide wasn’t just any ordinary water slide—it was a heart-pounding, splash-inducing, wild ride. It felt like a rollercoaster, but better—because you’re sliding through tropical paradise!
After the high-energy adventures, it was time to slow down and connect with nature on horseback. There’s something so peaceful yet exhilarating about riding through the lush landscapes of Rincon de la Vieja on horseback. I couldn’t help but marvel at the beauty around me.
After all that action, I was famished! Thankfully, our adventure was paired with one of the most delicious buffet lunches I’ve ever had. Picture this: fresh Costa Rican fare, bursting with flavors, set against the backdrop of a stunning jungle resort. From tropical fruits to perfectly seasoned meats and savory sides, every bite was a treat for the senses.
What better way to unwind after an action-packed day than a dip in natural thermal baths? The steam rising from the pools, the sounds of nature all around, and the feeling of pure relaxation made it the perfect end to an unforgettable day.
If you’re looking for the ultimate adventure in Costa Rica, this is it. From high-flying zip lines and adrenaline-pumping water slides to horseback rides through stunning scenery and relaxing thermal baths, this destination has it all.

Our day was amazing! Starting with our tour guide, Duck, he was the best. Not only was he our driver for over 5 hours round trip, he stayed with us all day throughout all our excursions. He took pictures of us doing all the adventures and was so fun to be with. All the people we interacted with during our day were so helpful and fun. It’s hard to decide which part of the day was our favorite, it all had special parts to it. We were treated so well. It was just me and 3 of my daughters in Costa Rica and being all women , I felt so safe the whole time. At the end of our tour, Duck gave us all the pictures he took. We can’t thank him enough for making our day so special! I highly recommend this tour and Duck as your guide!!!

I flew to Costa Rica with five of my friends to celebrate my birthday and after looking at several tours, this private one was recommended by my Airbnb host. It was great because we were on our own schedule in a private tour rather than a large group and despite the early morning pick up, our driver Pato had us laughing from the second. He came to pick us up. There were long car rides from our place, but he kept us informed, entertained and distracted from the traffic.
The tour itself was great. The zip lining was thrilling with a fun surprise on one of the last lines. The horseback riding was a great way to try it out on different terrain with well trained horses. The lunch buffet was good and Pato had the staff surprise me with a song and birthday cake. We opted out of doing the waterslide so that we could have more time at the Hot Springs, which was nice and relaxing. Pato gave us our privacy, but somehow had towels ready and waiting for us as soon as we were getting out.
We quickly learned how genuinely kind Costa Rican people are during this trip, but Pato truly made our day. I highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Costa Rica and request Pato if you can! You won’t be disappointed!

This was the best experience ever! We did the private tour and it was amazing. Oir tour guide Steven was amazing! We got to go Zip Lining, ride horses, try coffee and local food, do the waterside a few times and the hot springs with the sauna and mud. Then we went the the restaurant where we had a delicious lunch with a buffet. Make sure you take you cash with you to the hot springs... you will want some water or a yummy cocktail.

Duck promptly picked us up at our resort. He drove excellently and shared lots of history and knowledge with us on the trip. He took care of our every need while on site. Also, went above and beyond to get us some local fruit we requested on the start of our day. He made us laugh and feel very comfortable and safe.

All the people in our group agreed that this day was the most fun out of our entire week trip to Costa Rica. We had kids from ages 5 to 14 with us and they all had a blast. Our 5 year old was able to hook up to her dad for zip lining and loved every second of it. This is a place that has something for everyone.

The entire experience was amazing. On the way there we learned so much about the Costa Rican culture, more than we did in three days. Our tour guide, Duck, was awesome. He was very social and entertaining, gave us special treatment (always first), very caring, and just overall a wonderfully intelligent person. The trip was full of beautiful moments worth seeing and experiencing in your life. We will never forget this!

We had the best day thanks to our driver/tour guide Harold Lopez " Duck"! We were a handful a group of 8 with 4 kids and he was absolutely amazing! He went above and beyond for our group. He is was very communicative and clear with the directions and details. He was also patient, kind and lots of fun! It was definitely an adventure from start to finish. We were in a nice comfortable van with plenty of room and A/C . It was definitely worth the trip! The zip lining was incredible and we felt very safe. The hot springs were so relaxing and they even have a full service bar. Duck was a fantastic guide.
