About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- NewportBchSnob0 contributionsAwesome 3 days sailing in Whitsunday islands on MiLadyWe chartered MiLady for 3 days/2 nights in January 2025. It is a 54' Jeanneau Oceanis with a skipper and first mate that can comfortably take 6 people but we chartered her for just us 2. The yacht is in great condition and we had a nice cabin with a king size bed. We flew into Hamilton Island and they met us there. The skipper Ash knew exactly where to go and when to take us, but we also had control of the schedule. We had the 7 km of Whitehaven Beach to ourselves, we hiked up a couple of hills for great views, including the famous swirling sands (which we also had to ourselves). The next day we snorkeled a couple of excellent reefs (they provided stinger suits) and anchored in another cove (Ash the skipper told us no swimming here as sharks were more common in that bay). The meals were delicious (thank you Trish), and we had pre-arranged champagne and a birthday cake. It would definitely be more affordable if you split the cost with more guests, but it was a bucket list item for us, and we loved it.Written 27 January 2025
- 511gemmas0 contributionsMi Lady - 3D 3N Whitsunday charterMi Lady We did a 3D 3N Whitsunday charter aboard Mi Lady from Fri 3rd Jan - Mon 6 Jan. From the moment we were met on the pontoon by the lovely Tracy we had the best time! Tracy immediately made us feel extremely welcome & very quickly became not only the “hostess with the mostess” but also our Aussie Mother Hen. Literally nothing was too much trouble, for the entire trip Tracy worked tirelessly to make sure we were happy, comfortable, watered & well fed. The delicious meals she managed to rustle up in the small but well equipped galley was truly impressive. Steak, fish or chicken all cooked to perfection, and not forgetting the famous “Tracy’s Picky Bits Platter”! Every afternoon around 5 after a day of adventure Tracy would pop up on deck with a delicious platter she had made up of cheeses, meats & fruit. Always offered up with a great selection of drinks from the bar. Let’s not forget our awesome captain Ash here! What a total legend & salty old sea dog he was! Full of knowledge and adventure. Ash has years of sailing under his belt & his knowledge of the local area & best places to go really served us well & we made the most of every spot he took us to because of this. The weather on our trip was unsettled (typical for the tropics at this time of year), however made for great sailing!) Every spare moment he had, Ash was constantly checking out the weather to ensure he did his best to dodge the rain showers, make the most of the winds for sailing & keep us anchored up in the best spots overnight for a comfortable sleep. He also knew how to beat the crowds, we were always one step ahead of the main larger tours, which meant we were able to take full advantage of the stunning Whitehaven Beach before it got too busy or at the end of the day as the day trips had left Ash would take us to the most beautiful quiet spots so we could truly appreciate the beauty of the Whitsunday Islands. At all times we felt 100% safe in the hands of Captain Ash, even with a bit of wild weather around, we knew with his years of sailing knowledge that every decision he made was with our safety first & foremost & our enjoyment. In terms of the boat herself, if you like “proper” sailing with a little bit of comfort then Mi Lady is the boat for you! She is far superior in comfort to any of the maxi yachts that also do the overnight tours, however the performance of sailing is not hindered. She’s a 55 foot beauty! It was lovely that we were a small group of 6 (made up of three couples), we all had our own private cabin shower and toilet facilities, which for a sailing boat were not too bad at all. I think the only area that we perhaps were a little naive on was the air-conditioning situation. In the original advert for the trip, it says the boat is air-conditioned, which led us to believe the Aircon will be on all the time. However, once we were aboard, we understood that the air con could only be on at the same time as the generator. I think here a case of perhaps naivety on our part & a little misleading on the website. That said whenever we asked for the Aircon to be switched on, Tracy & Ash were always happy to do so and it was never a problem. The whole trip really was an incredible & memorable experience for us. We had the most lovely group of people, and Tracy & Ash very much felt part of it as well. By the end of the three days it really did feel like a small family. Memories made to last a lifetime here. Passing on the biggest thanks & best wishes to our Mother Hen & Trusty Captain. Gemma & Graham (from Guernsey, Channel Islands)Written 19 January 2025

- KaylaKB0 contributionsLovely dayWe had a beautiful day out on the water on Providence, but would probably choose something with more time at stops / snorkelling next time (around 5-6hrs just on the boat, and only about 2-2.5hrs of activity time). The skipper was great - really relaxed and put us all at ease, with a good dose of humour as well. The slower pace of the boat meant that bub was also quite relaxed, and we could spot whales and dolphins on our way, as well as turtles in the bay. Lookout over Whitehaven Beach was lovely but we missed going to the actual beach (once you factor in getting on/off the boat and walking there with kids in tow, there wasn't really enough time to go to the beach for a swim) and so if we had our time again we would not have bothered with the lookouts and would have instead gone straight to the beach. The snorkelling was enjoyable but also very short (about 35mins or so), and we wished we could have stayed for longer because it really only felt like 10mins.Written 7 October 2024
- sarahkO9099WU0 contributionsUpdate the sunset sail details !!!Disappointed as the tropical cocktail detailed was just a small glass of champagne… and the cheese plater is one bree cheese for over 25 people with a few cheap dips. The sails aren't hoisted …only a half jib which I understand its safer for passengers drinking not wearing life jackets but its more a motor out and a bob around than a sail which was a bit disappointing. Perhaps more accurate updated descriptions are needed as the skipper said oh we haven't done the cocktails for a long time !!!!Written 6 October 2024

Only one snorkelling session (I expected another site too), transfers from boat to rubber duck very good, snorkelling very nice. No sailing was done which was a little sad - good day with some nice guys. Captain saw showed us may Whales and allowed plenty of time to view them.Written 4 September 2024
- theresadC2922FH0 contributionsTall ship day cruise AWESOMEWow what an adventure, to start the was a bus to pick us up. Once at the dock we waited to everyone arrived. Then we walked thru the harbour looking at the boats till we arrived at the Providence V. What a ship. The crew were awesome the whole day very attentive . We motored out to Whitehaven dock, then we were left to our own adventure . I went to the lookouts first the amazing view were spectacular . Then I walked to the crystal clear beach white sand was sensational. Once back on the boat awesome catered lunch , then off to Dumbell island for an hour of snorkeling . What a beautiful reef we have in Australia, airley beach Queensland . I highly recommend this tour and the staff.Written 22 August 2024

If you want to experience a little more friendliness & personal experience than the ‘sheep herding cruises’, I would recommend a trip on The Providence V. It is a unique sailboat built for a unique experience.
The crew were friendly & added to the personal experience of the trip. The boat accommodated for a number of guests, but at no time did it feel crowded or if you were crammed together.
The complete round trip was enjoyable with the skipper filling us in on what was coming up & had well versed local knowledge of the islands, the snorkelling spot, & the waters.
Even though we did hoist the sails, the winds weren’t in our favour for the whole sail, so relied on the engine for a bit, but we cannot control nature.
Overall, I would recommend this experience if you want a unique day trip (& a sunset sail).

Thanks so much for your thoughtful review and sounds like you might have done both of our sails on Providence V. They are both (we hope) unique experiences as the Whitsundays is the sailing capital of Australia.
Our crew will be really pleased to hear your feedback and glad we could give you a day to remember.

This was disappointing. We booked this sailing cruise as it was advertised as a luxury, romantic, intimate tour. That’s not what we experienced.
When we got into the boat I noticed it was not in as good condition as the photos and the seating options were limited to old cushions on branch seats. It was also crowded, with everyone sitting down we were touching shoulders with other passengers.
We were rushed out of the harbour with the engines on and given half a donut/muffin for “morning tea”.
Then crowded in while the captain told us the plan for day and promptly informed us that we wouldn’t be stopping long as he had to get back for his sunset cruise.
After taking a very crowded trip on a dingy to and from Whitehaven Beach we were all starving and given “lunch” which was a cold wrap with a lot of lettuce and a little bit of cold chicken and literally nothing else. We were then told that there was no hot water left for tea and coffee and charged for a can of drink and served a fruit platter from a Tupperware container.
At no point during the day did the engines go off, we didn’t do any sailing - due to the fact that he had a deadline and didn’t have time to slow down at all. We also saw some whales that were having an amazing little play but motored right past them without even slowing - again due to the tight deadline.
During the tour the two staff sat at the back of the boat vaping and played some music including some heavy metal / EDM which is not really the vibe for that kind of tour. There was no communication about any of the local landmarks or “learning the ropes” as described.
Also we hired wetsuits from a local shop which was recommended by the tour, they told us to leave the suits on the boat as they are closed. When we politely said we were leaving them the skipper said “no what are we mean to do with it”. We ended up having to take them home with us and come back the next day to drop them off.
Overall I feel that the tour was over advertised and it felt like a budget group tour not a romantic relaxing sailing tour.
I’ve read some other reviews saying the same thing and they have been responded to by the owners very negatively, this is not a review meant to attack the company but they should seriously consider taking on the feedback given to them regarding the food and customer service. Most of the website photos don’t even resemble the actual boat we went on.

Thanks for your review and I can assure you we certainly take any feedback seriously. We are in the process of changing caterers and you should have received frittata and a wrap for lunch. The skipper is filling in and may not have known the issue with the wetsuits and will talk to him about this. And certainly sailing is what we do and there should have been sails put up.
We also do not allow crew to smoke or 'vape' onboard and we have spoken to them about this as well as the choice of music.
We do have two boats and we have never described Providence V as 'luxury' - MiLady our overnight yacht is in that category. Providence V is a traditional tallship.
It's a shame you did not enjoy your day and thanks for providing feedback.

Had an amazing time out on providence for the day!! The food was lovely we had coffee and tea served with banana bread, cookies, muffins, chicken wraps, frittata, laminations, and a fruit platter to name some! We did a snorkel on a beautiful reef and had time on whitehaven beach to explore and go up to see the lookout view of hill inlet. We put the sails up whenever we had enough wind and the crew was happy to explain how they worked and get us guest involved in hoisting up the sails with them:) I would definitely recommend this trip for any backpackers or groups coming through airlie!!

Such a disappointment. We were let down at 3 pm the day before , having confirmed it in the morning and booked 2 weeks ago. We were let down because others couldn’t make it at the last minute … we don’t understand how that’s possible as surely they would still have to pay to go as soon as close to the time.
Anyway we managed to get onto the Whitsunday bullet instead. Better as there was no wind anyway and we got to see more islands.
It even seems that I have to now battle to get my money back !! Over 400 dollars. And we were cancelled by the company. !

Hi Caroline I do have to address what you are saying. We cancelled because we had 7 guests and we did let you know in plenty of time unlike some other boats that cancel late in the day. If we cancel you have no issues getting your money back. We don’t get paid by Trip Advisor until two weeks after travel so the refund comes from them. A

A slightly disappointing trip. We had originally booked another ship, but the day before was told it was cancelled due to an essential part not being delivered in time meaning the boat was unable to sail…some notice on this would have been nice as we were then rushing to secure an alternative option at 5pm whilst offices were closing.
On the day, the staff were lovely (included 1 trainee) and tried hard to keep guests happy, but the overall vibe was pretty miserable as the day went on.
We got on board and struggled to find a seat -for our 9 hour ‘cruise’. There were 23 people which in our opinion is almost 10 people too many. Not as advertised with people laying down on the benches. We were given a brief introduction from the captain who didn’t seem very happy to be there. He mentioned we were able to grab a mouldy rain jacket that holes in to keep us dry. No where is it mentioned how wet you get and without spare dry clothes, we were all sat wet for the 2.5 hour journey to the beach.
The food was quite basic, nice sandwiches but simple store bought cupcakes and banana bread for morning tea.
Overall we wouldn’t recommend

The day trip to Whitehaven included motoring yacht and hoisting sails. Snorkelling in the national park. Taken by tender ashore on Whitsunday Island, walk to the lookouts and then walk down to Whitehaven Beach. Oscar was skipper, had 2 crew and handled the boat well in more than a metre swell. Saw whales breaching, which was an added bonus. 17 passengers aboard. If you get sea sick take sea sickness tablets before you leave.

Thanks Clare for finding time to review us. And will pass on your comments to Oscar. We have had heaps of whales and yes sea sickness tablets should be taken at least an hour before the sail. Glad you enjoyed the experience.

Yesterday we went on the Providence sailing boat from 7-4.30… Whilst the staff were friendly enough, they had their timings down completely wrong. Actions from the staff meant that our time snorkelling was extremely limited and our time at the whitsundays was cut short. To get to our snorkelling spot, our group was split into three whilst the captain took us in parts to the spot. However the tender kept breaking down, and at some points he had to row. This slowed and cut short everyone’s opportunity to snorkel. Then, when we got the whitsundays the staff chose to pack the tender full with people to get to the shore. The boat started to sink ! We watched from the main boat as the tender slowly started to sink and then finally the staff got out and waded their way and pulled the tender to shore. We and other people on the tour were left alone on the main boat with no staff for 30 minutes… By the time they got around to getting us to shore we had only been given an hour and half perhaps even less on the island ! Me and my boyfriend are so gutted because we booked this trip ages ago, and was so looking forward to it. If we had known that you only got to spend an hour on the island and 25 minutes snorkelling, we would have NOT booked this trip. In addition to this, the food promised is misleading, I was under the impression that we would be fed all day, but the portions of food were tiny ! What they deem as afternoon tea, is a fruit stick with half a strawberry and a few blueberries and a chunk of melon… We ended up getting back to port at 5.30, where the staff were late to pick up a sunset cruise…
I feel that the staff managed as best as they could with the materials they were given- which weren’t very good. However some choices they made didn’t help the situation. Overall we paid a lot of money for a let down of a boat trip.

Hi Grace
Sorry to hear this happened. Unfortunately we had a replacement tender provided by the only repairer in Airlie Beach while ours was being fixed and this led to the issues you are describing. We have told them we are not happy with this.
We have had no bad reviews about our food. And we don't serve afternoon tea - but afternoon fruit. Yoghurt pots and large cookie for morning tea; chicken wrap and sundried tomato and spinach quiche for lunch and fruit for afternoon tea. For $25 pp we would consider this to be good value.

This was advertised as a sailing trip. The motor was never turned off, and the headsail was only up for less than an hour, while the motor continued to run.
The brochure states that stinger suits are included in the price, but everyone was charged $10 each, cash, prior to departure. We did a number of snorkeling tips in Cairns and Airlie, and all the other tour operators provided stinger, or wet suits free.
Boat was old and in need of maintenance, especially the toilet. Lunch consisted of a chicken wrap. Much better value elsewhere

Hi Andrew
Thanks for your review. We do provide stinger suits in season free of charge for health reasons. Wetsuits are available for hire at $10 pp as we have someone who runs that business looking after the care of the wetsuits and this is advertised on our website and on tickets.
Providence is undergoing her annual maintenance. Lunch includes the wrap and frittata which is accompanied by morning tea with home made brownies and fresh fruit in the afternoon.
If the winds are not favourable we do have to motor but take every opportunity to put up the sails.
Thanks for finding time to review us.

Really enjoyed the day on the sailboat, even though there was not enough wind and the motors were used. The ocean was calm, the trip was relaxing, enjoyed chatting with the other travelers AND the fellows were great! We had morning tea, a wraps for lunch and several times throughout the day, trays were brought around with various goodies. The view at Hill Inlet Lookout was stunning! And the water/sand at Betty's Beach was simply incredible. We saw a couple of sea turtles, and there were sting rays just off shore. We didn't see much snorkeling however I really enjoyed the experience. I was delighted that on the way back, they raised a sail even though there was still not enough wind. All in all, it was a fantastic day! Thank you!!

Had a really fabulous day out sailing on providence. Peter and Oscar were just lovely, informative and entertaining. The weather conditions were not the best but Peter made sure we were able to do the snorkeling and visit Whitehaven beach. The walk up to the lookout was easy and the views amazing!! The weather turned on the way back but it was superb to feel the waves crashing against the front of the boat - loved every minute of this sail!!

are you able to bring your own alcoholic drinks on the boat & own food/snacks?
Written 7 November 2021
Hi Taylor R, not that I am aware of. If you have dietary issues I am sure they would be OK with that, but the food and drink was part of the package. Don't expect too much, it's about the sailing and snorkelling.

How much snorkelling time do you get on the reef on this day tour.

Hi, we are looking to book a day's sailing on 9th August. Do you pick up from Big4 Adventure Resort on Shute Harbour Road?

Is this a good tour to take children aged 1, 4 and 6? The 4 and 6 year old can swim.
Thank you.

I hate to say it, but no. Very big day for all children. 8 hours on a boat. I would think with one year old you’d want a change table and somewhere for a nap for it. No room for a stroller. I would think your partner may be looking after the little one. Your hands would be filled climbing in and out of dingy, up and down a ladder with the other elder two. I observed more 8 to 10 year olds hold their own. Do a sunset tour instead. Two hours where the kids can drive the boat, and be pirates. Little one can sleep under deck if need be. And mum can have a glass of bubbles!... if your up for a adventure with the kids. I’m sure either tour the staff would help you. I’d hate for you miss out on a unique experience. Contact them directly. Look at photos of boat and lay out . And see if you can envision yourself there being comfortable with baby. Whales have been sighted this week, so get out there in the next two months. I hope you enjoy the Whitsundays!
