About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 135kennethw0 contributionsA wonderful experienceA wonderful day. The three limestone caves, especially Razorback, were among the high points of my two-week visit to Australia. In addition, this trip took us for a brief walk in a rainforest and to see koalas in the wild along a road and kangaroos on the green of a golf course.Written 17 February 2025
- Clement G0 contributionsAmazing Experience – Highly Recommend!I had an incredible time on this tour! Everything was well-organized, the guide was knowledgeable and friendly ! I highly recommend this tourWritten 16 February 2025
- DaveP4790 contributionsSpectacular viewsSpectacular views. Multiple stops with plenty of time to explore and enjoy. Our tour guide/driver Kevin was fantastic! Very informative overall and even made some unscheduled stops to see kangaroo and koala. Long day but worth the drive and time!Written 16 February 2025
- I5460VCjillw0 contributionsAmazing Day!Kevin was a wonderful guide. Loved the entire tour. Stunning views. Koalas. Kangaroos. It was everything we could have hoped for.Written 14 February 2025
- bobbG2661TN0 contributionsDon’t miss this tripVan with at most 10 people made for much nicer trip than huge bus. Driver was informative but not pushy. Scenery was fabulousWritten 13 February 2025
- R788UHmarkl0 contributionsWonderful day with a great guide: Peter! We were a family of 8 adults and we had the vehicle--and guide Peter--to ourselves. Everything about the trip was wonderful--Peter was engaging and knowledgeable and focused on our satisfaction. The vehicle was great and we loved the itinerary--many stops--both substantial and brief--seeing marvelous coastlines and great animals (koalas, roos, cockatoos, magpies, etc. Nothing but excellent things to say about our experience.Written 13 February 2025
- Lisa B0 contributionsDo it! It’s worth the money!Very enjoyable with beautiful views! Would highly recommend! Our tour guide Sam was very pleasant and accommodating! Make sure your phone is charged, there are so many beautiful photos to take!Written 12 February 2025
- Relax8192270 contributionsBeautiful day out of the cityWe were fortunate to have perfect weather for this journey along and around the Great Ocean Road. Our guide, Neil, was full of information and seemed to enjoy hosting and sharing with us. The scenery is fantastic, the winding road an adventure. Take sunscreen and a hat and get ready for a memorable day.Written 12 February 2025
- Ashwellgirl340 contributionsGreat but long day tripNeil our tour guide was great. Professional yet friendly and informative. Unfortunately we were on the wrong side of the bus so didn't get to see much of the ocean from the bus but we stopped often enough to go and see the great views. We also saw a Koala, Kangaroos and a kookaburra. It's a very long trip with lots of sitting on the bus so I'd recommend getting there early to get the best seats.Written 12 February 2025
- bandit130 contributionsLoved our private tourThe four of us took a private tour with Pats. We arrived on a cruise ship and were picked up at the cruise terminal. Since we had to be back on ship at 10 pm, Pats worked around our schedule and redesigned the tour to our wishes. We visited the 12 Apostles and drove down the beautiful Great Coastal road, making some stops for some beautiful pictures. We really wanted to see kangaroos and koalas in the wild and Pats was able to spot them. We even spotted a Kookaburra at Teddys Lookout. Although we skipped hiking through the forest, she gave us a wonderful drive by tour of Melbourne and a walking tour of the murals in downtown Melbourne. It was a full day but Pats did a wonderful job keeping it lively. She worked around our schedule and got us back in time to board our ship.Written 11 February 2025
- db9010 contributionsBetter than a self drive version.....Very good trip! Some might like to think they should drive themselves, but this is the way to go! Experienced driver in very nice, spacious and comfortable van. The van makes the difference here. A bus really puts some limits on the group. Driving yourself is likely much more of a hassle than any benefit to be gained. This is definitely the way to see the Great Ocean Road! We stopped at several beautiful vantage points and beaches and had time on each. Lunch was on your own in a small, seaside town with lots of options to choose from. Starting on the far side via an inland highway gets you out relatively quickly so the tour can wend its way back along the Great Ocean Road towards Melbourne not fighting a lot of traffic. It made a big difference!Written 10 February 2025
- H7912YUdenised0 contributionsGORGEOUS fantasticExcellent trip knowledgeable and pleasant driver. Recommend to people visiting Melbourne. We loved the chocolate shop at the end of the tour.Written 10 February 2025
- ohiowanderer0 contributionsFun day to the 12 ApostlesKevin picked me up on time, early in fact, from my hotel in Melbourne at 6:30 AM. It was a long day but it went so well. There was time to doze on the trip to the 12 Apostles. We stopped for breakfast at a small cafe after 1.5 hours. We missed the crowds. There were multiple stops on the way back along the coast. Kevin kept us informed about the all important toilet stops and lunch places. Be aware that there are no toilets at the 12 Apostles so go when your guide tells you. We saw koalas and kookaburras. I traveled solo but the other passengers in the van were friendly so it made for a fun day out of Melbourne.Written 10 February 2025
- Sisi W0 contributionsNeil is great5 Our tour guide Neil is very experienced, explained a lot about the history and background of great ocean road. A very pleasant journey.Written 8 February 2025
- Jwebs680 contributionsDo this trip! This was such a great day, and well worth the early start. After a quick stop for breakfast we were at our first point of interest, Gibson steps, well ahead of the crowds- the beach was almost deserted! Our driver and guide, Peter, was fun, friendly and knowledgable, and passionate about wildlife. He made several extra stops to show us koalas and kangaroos in the wild, and pointed out many different birds too. An excellent day spent in good company- highly recommend (and hope that Peter is your guide!)Written 8 February 2025

We really enjoyed The Great Ocean Road tour! Unfortunately, we ran into some weather which caused us to miss a few of the stops, but our guide did an excellent job of pivoting and trying to work around the rain. The views along the coast are stunning and definitely worth the trip from Melbourne! Our guide provided some great history and commentary as took in the views from the van!

If you only after sightseeing and not really participating to any activities this is the one.
I have to mention our tour guide Jemmy Chen, who is fluency in English and Mandarin, he is a good leader and organise the trip well with clear instructions and response to requests timely. The bus is clean. He did make the trip more enjoyable.
Thank you!
However, it took a bit of hassle to apply the discount offer on the website, should improve this.

Today, I had the pleasure of joining Hit The Roads Tours for their Reverse Great Ocean Road tour. It was an extraordinary experience, and I truly relished exploring the breathtaking coastal itinerary. Marty, our tour guide, was a fountain of knowledge that greatly enriched the tour experience.

Participated in the English guided tour
But the tour guide is Taiwanese so he is very kind.
Even if you don’t understand, you can still communicate in Chinese
Although the itinerary is tight, you won’t miss any place
The explanations along the way were very attentive.
Whether on the bus or at a tourist attraction
The bus will also play nice English songs or crystal music
During the journey, we will also care about whether everyone needs to use the toilet or drink water.
What other places are cheaper to buy things, etc.
Big attractions will also help everyone take individual photos
It’s also fun to see wild animals
Overall, it seems like everyone is traveling together
great experience
Highly recommended~

Great tour. The reverse itinerary is a cool idea as it makes the tour more efficient. Placing the more physically demanding activities in the first section improves the overall experience. The tour is designed to start early and end early in the evening leaving you enough time for the night in Melbourne.
Jimmy Chan was a fantastic guide and driver who kept things on schedule whiling running smoothly. He was very knowledgeable about the tour sites and always informed what to expect during the tour ahead of time.

The tour was amazing, mainly because of the beautiful views. The drive along the coastline was breathtaking. Jimmy, our guide, is able to speak multi language and is very clear in his explanation and time keeping, to ensure that we maximize the experience. Most importantly, his drive was very smooth, despite the winding roads.
Great one!

Thanks to Uncle Jimmy Chan for taking us on our August 10 trip to the Great Ocean Road. Uncle Chan drove steady and the 21 of us were comfortable in the car. Uncle Chan showed us all the magnificent Attractions of the Great Ocean Road and explained them carefully along the way. He also led us to two koalas 🐐 and a flock of kangaroos on the slopes.

Excellent experience with Chris as our tour guide. Chris is passionate and knowledgeable about all of the areas we visited. Chris was more than a driver that would just drop you off at an area and let you explore on your own, in fact, he would walk with us and explain to us what we are seeing and the history of the area. Chris made a big difference on our trip and if you book this, I hope you get Chris as a guide.
