So so tour
Sep 2019 • Family
I enjoyed the visit to the Pisac ruins but we didn’t have much time to visit. I felt the tour was rushed and we ended up going to a jewelry shop and market as a shopping trip ( a total tourist trap) then we went to lunch which was not included in the price and was very expensive for Perú. The visit to Ollantaytambo was interesting, here we had more time. Then we went to a textile workshop, that was interesting but again I would have rather had more time at Inca ruins instead of shopping. I would do another tour that includes Chinchero and Moray/Maras because you have to buy a tourist ticket (not included in the price) and we ended up not seeing all of the sights we could have

Sinceramente, Renato

Marvellous Inca sites
The Sacred Valley is definitely a place to visit. Our guide Renato did his best to convey the spirit of the Inca days, sometimes his English was a bit hard to understand. Unfortunately the place for lunch was not very convincing, if you do this trip try to manage to stay in Ollantaytambo for lunch and a visit to the market.

Great guy but unexpected expenses
Guide was very knowledgable. Pick up was on time. Thought was overpriced for what was offered, given only 2 sites visited. However, the main reason for the 3 star review is the ‘optional lunch’ which we were co-ursed into. We had already sat down by the time they told us the price of the buffet: 60 sol with little other options in the area. The buffet itself was laughably dreadful. It consisted of weird tasting curry, very bland chicken and deserts as dry as Haukachina.

Fantastic guide! But watch out for extra costs.
A lovely day out, visiting the awesome ruins in Pisac and Olytayambo, with a great guide who was fluent in English and from the local area, packed with knowledge and some good anecdotes too! Picked up on time and they were more than obliging to drop us in Olytayambo too. HOWEVER! Watch out for extra costs, lunch is 55 soles for a average buffet, with other local food far below this price and park entry is 70 soles which we didn’t know as a result of our naivety. If reading remember this tour is in fact around 280 soles.

It was with reasonable price and good choices of locations. I liked Pisak and Ollantaytambo especially.
The guide Marco Antonio was so faithful, so friendly and full of historic and interesting information. The only disadvantage was that I was not eligible for having lunch.

Taxi tour of the Valley - Cochahuasi Animal Rescue and Awanakancha Llama/Alpaca farm and PISCA MARKET
May 2018
Loved Pisac Market - colorful and authentic goods from the people who make them. Didn't have time to do it all so we missed Maras Salt Mines, Pisac Ruins (saw them from a distance), and Moray.
We enjoyed the Animal Rescue place and the Llama farm. We took a private taxi, but considered TaxiDatum.com as they were super helpful for airport reservations in Lima.

Good tour
May 2018 • Couples
The Sacred Valley tour was overall good. It includes visits to Pisac, Urubamba (for lunch), Ollantaytambo and Chinchero. Our guide Haydee was very nice and informative and she gave us enough time to explore each of the sites on our own. Lunch was included in the tour. The only minus was the punctuality: the bus did not pick us up in front of our hotel (allegedly because of the crazy Cusco traffic), so another employee of the agency had to lead us through the town to eventually catch the bus. Other than that, everything was fine.

We got half of what we paid for. Rude guide.
Dec 2017 • Friends
We paid for the sacred valley ticket to see 4 sites, Moray, Chinchero, Pisac and Ollantaytambo. Our guide only took us to two of those sites. Pisac and Ollantaytambo. Instead of the other two sites we paid for (and truly wanted to see) we were taken to two tourist traps. One was a place to see how silver was made in a small town shop. Clearly this was some type of business deal between the tour operator and the shop. We were told this was a "shopping" stop. We had a small group and none of us wanted to shop there, we wanted to continue the tour and see the sites we paid for, but our preferences were not respected. There are so many shopping places/opportunities all over the Peru that you don't pay a tour to see. This silver store was a 5-10 minute presentation on silver and then we just hung out around the bus until the guide was ready to go. The other site that was in place of what we had actually paid for was a weaver shop (again some type of deal between the tour operator and the store). This was more interesting than the Pisac shopping trip for anyone who doesn't know about weaving and dying animal fur, but again, not what we paid to see. Some of us have already experienced these type of instructional presentations in places like Equator, and Colombia so we were quite disengaged. I would have rather seen the Inka ruins than be brought into this shop where the women are basically begging you to buy their products.

Our tour guide Adriel was vain and rude. He clearly liked to hear himself talk. In the silver store he was watching himself talk in the mirrors behind the guests. At the ruins and during the bus ride he contradicted many of the scientific views of Inka culture, architecture and history with his own ideas that are not scientifically backed up, and if you contradicted him or asked for his evidence he said he would explain to you later, and later didn't come. He did not like it if he was talking and you did not give him your full attention. There were times people in the group were looking around at other things or talking to each other (a mother and daughter a few times) and the guide would keep calling for attention like a desperate, control freak, school teacher. "Hello, hello, listen to this..." It was annoying! If adult people don't want to listen to a guide drone on and speak pseudo facts, they don't have to!

The two sites we did get to visit (Pisac and Ollantaytambo) we didn't have much time to explore or look around. These sites were far more interesting than the shops the guide took us to.

Toward the end of the tour Adriel handed out the company's evaluation forms for his service. I had been reading a book and had not yet completed the form when he came through the bus to collect the papers. We were still an hour out of Cusco (plenty of time to complete the form) and HE CALLED ME LAZY! No joke. He literally said "You're lazy." I said, "I was reading a book!" And he replied, "Oh." And walked away. I was shocked. I can't believe that I paid for this tour. I feel ripped off. My friend and I did not get to see all the ruins we paid for, and the tour guide was discourteous. I did complete the form and rated the bus driver much higher than the actual guide.

When we returned to Cusco we were supposed to change to a smaller microbus, as the large bus could not navigate the small inner streets. The little bus was not there, so the guide put us in different taxis to get to our specific hotel/plaza locations. We found this to be unprofessional on the part of the transport/tour company.

If you want to see the sacred valley, make sure to check in advance that you are actually going to see all of the sites you paid for. This was our least enjoyed tour in Peru. I highly recommend using a different tour company to see the sacred valley. Maybe you will actually get to see all of the sites you pay for, and be treated well by the guide.
