Can't say enough good things about Flashpacker Connect and their amazing guides and employees! From answering my endless questions before we left home, to our native guide Will and his bountiful knowledge of the area and its customs, we were in excellent hands. Our chefs, Sergio and Juan, provided us with incredible meals - all cooked on propane stoves. The scenery was gorgeous and we lucked out with the weather, hiking in the morning sunshine and resting in the afternoon rains. Will was an excellent guide, helping me with my altitude sickness and full of encouragement. His paparazzi skills are above par - as is his English. The staff went above and beyond to make our trip a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Flashpacker Connect is the way to go!

This trek was absolutely amazing! You get to experience the beauty of the Andes, including snowy peaks, blue lakes, flowers, alpacas and starry skies, and avoid the crowds. Our guide, Joaquin, cook, Charlie, and porters, Marcelina and Jose were all experienced, friendly and upbeat, and made the trip wonderful! :)

This tour company has excellent service, Started with Le Ann, who took my reservation, She is great at responding to requests and quite accommodating. When I wanted to change my briefing time, all I need to do was e-mail and she got back to me right away.(thank you so much LeAnn) .

The tour guide for this trip, Ricardo Huaman, is excellent. He speaks fluent English, is very professional, and an amazing photographer. I highly recommend this guy as your tour guide if you book any Flashpackerconnect tours. He is extremely patient, closely monitors his guests, making sure they have no breathing issues or altitude sickness, and making sure they are hydrated, The altitude is extremely high on this trek and it's very reassuring to have a tour guide that is always concerned about your well-being, while also being encouraging and positive. Climbing Rainbow Mountain and passing the highest pass on the second day was particularly tough. He was right there behind me, encouraging and inspiring me and making me believe I could do anything. Thank you Ricardo for your positive spirit! !

Another reason I would recommend this tour guide is his photography skills. He takes his time taking your picture just how you want it, even if his hands are freezing. I let him hold my camera the whole time while I was riding a horse, He captured the most amazing photo ever without even be asked to take my photo. He also took a video of me while I was doing my Zumba routine at 16,500 feet. I have never seen someone so passionate and enthusiastic about his job.

The rest of the crew was incredible as well. Charlie, the tour chef, is an amazing cook The food served on this trek was delicious. They even pack you a snack every day. Charlie is also lots of fun, always smiling and making jokes. He even taught me how to speak Quechua! He always woke me up with coca tea in the morning, delivering it to my tent, and even made me a cake on the last day of the trek.

Miguel, my horseman, always there with me, such a kind and caring man, with a great smile. He absolutely loves his horse, always making sure his horse is well cared for., He even slept next to his horse, Raul, the other porter/horseman, was always happy and smiling, making your day fun and always helping me stow my tent and helping Charlie in the kitchen and created a vest with my name in it with and the whole crew. The driver, Hugo, was terrific as well. picking us up right on time, smiling as always.

I was very lucky to have this amazing crew, which worked so well together, I have never felt so pampered in my life and was made to feel at home. Despite how cold it was and the high altitude, I was very comfortable, We had so much fun on this trek and even played soccer at the campsite on our 4th day,

Being out in the wild for 6 days was fun and magical, The surrounding landscape is magnificent. You trek among glaciers, alpaca herds, candy-hued lagoons and surreal rainbow-striped passes and on the 5th day you go for a dip in a natural hot spring with an amazing view of the snow-capped mountains. This was a trek of a lifetime and I highly recommend it. The mountains were so peaceful. We met local Quechua women along the way and saw so many alpaca. This was definitely the only place I have been where Alpacas outnumbered humans! I definitely recommend the whole crew who was with me in this trip to be your crew if you plan doing the 6 days Ausangate trek. Those guys I mentioned in this review did above and beyond taking care of a stranger (me) to make sure I am well taken care off and feed. and oh make sure you bring enough spare batteries for your camera and cellphone portable charger for this trek. And learned how to photographed stars before you go on this trip and don't forget to bring your tripod.

My fiancé and I did the six day Ausangate/Rainbow Mtn loop with Mijail as our guide, Charlie as our cook and Pedro and Miguel as our horsemen. Every day was a challenge but we were allowed to go at our own pace and Mijail’s extensive knowledge of the history, culture and animals made every break along the way or pause in conversation at meal time interesting. They carry oxygen and a satellite phone, the sleeping bags are subzero, the tents are new and the food is somehow different every meal and delicious and more than enough. They even pay for veterinarian services for the horses twice a year. Some of the nights we were at their private campgrounds so we either stayed in huts with gorgeous views or our tents were under little lean-tos so we had more shelter from the afternoon and evening weather. Our longest day was just under 10 miles, but regardless of the length when we arrived the horsemen and cook had gone ahead with the horses and gear and set up camp for us, so we could relax and take a nap before a big lunch and exploring (or more resting) for the afternoon before dinner. Recommend requesting Mijail as your guide and Charlie as your cook! Mijail even helped us after the trek extensively so we could adopt a homeless dog we met in the mountains on the trek, truly above and beyond!

I returned from the Flash Packer's 4-day Ausangate and Rainbow Mountain tour yesterday, and I must say it was one of the most exhilarating treks I have done at high altitude! Flash Packers was wonderful from the orientation to the very end. All details were well thought out, and our guide, Beker, was very attentive to how each member of the trekking team were feeling in terms of altitude, energy levels, and fatigue each and every day. Beker was an enthusiastic photographer, ensuring we had multiple photos from each vantage spot we stopped to take in the incredible scenery, He was knowledgeable and resourceful on all things Peruvian and of Quechua culture. I felt he set a good but not overwhelmingly fast pace to ensure we were challenged but not exhausted each day,. It made our daily ascents above 16,000 feet that much easier and do-able, and I truly applaud him for reading the group's energy and disposition throughout each and every day.

On the logistics side, I could not have asked for more from Flashpacker Connect. Their orientation was thorough and reassuring, and they listened and responded to each member's questions and concerns. The lodging was wonderful for high-altitude camping. The first night was actually in a bed in single cabins with spectacular views of the Ausangate glaciers and the brilliantly star lit skies. The ensuing 2 nights, though at 14,500+ and then at 15,500+ feet, were warm and comfortable inside the tent enclosures under thatch roofs for added warmth. What I especially liked about what FlashPacker Connect did for these 2 nights was that our tents were actually on twin mattresses rather than narrow inflatable sleeping pads, This was critical for sleep, as it allowed one the ability to roll over without rolling off and avoided the noise of the inflatable sleeping pads.

Next, the food was amazing and ever plentiful, This is not a trek to do to lose weight, as we had ample meals 3 times a day with a wide variety of vegetables, meat dishes, and soups. I was continually amazed at our cook, Sergio's, ability to quickly conjure multiple course meals with just 60-90 minutes at high altitude. It is a tribute tyo Flashpacker Connect's willingness to leave no expense unspent to ensure the comfort of its guests.

Finally, it goes without saying that the views were spectacular and just jaw dropping. I had never been at altitudes above 15,000 feet, and the Ausangate glacial views and lakes were a sight to behold. Rainbow Mountain at both sunset (special side trip we did on day 3) and at sunrise on day 4 were spiritual and beautiful., We were the only people there on both days at sunset and sunrise and got to experience Rainbow Mountain in all its glory unperturbed by any other human presence.

Flashpacker Connect was truly a fabulous agency for this trip, They do it like no one else and they do it in an extraordinary fashion to maximize the success and comfort of its clients!!

This was my second treks in my trip. First was Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu. Honestly I definitely recommend this 6 day Ausangate + Rainbow Mountain trek. This trek highlights my trip. The guide is friendly and reliable. The team is well-organized including a chef and a horseman. They all take care of us and we finished without any problems. This trek is hard but definitely worth it. The views are incredible. You will be able to see many aspects of Ausangate glacier and also at night milky way is so beautiful. I'm sure you'll never regret this trek.

Flashpacker is an amazing company, and this trek was incredible. Saw very few other people while on the trail for 6 days, and we ended with sunset and sunrise trips to Rainbow Mountain when we were the only ones there, no tourist crowds. Great meals, great crew. Excellent company, highly recommend.

My fiance and I actually did two treks with Flashpacker, the first was the 4-day Salkantay to Machu Picchu trek and the second was the 6-day Ausangate to Rainbow Mountian trek. While the guides/cooks/horsemen were different for each trek, they all exceeded our expectations.

The guides obviously knew the trek well, pointing us in the right direction when we wandered a little too far off the beaten trail. They were also immensely knowledgeable about the local history and culture, and the flora and fauna. It was easy to take breaks to catch our breath as the guide talked about an interesting flower near the trail. At camp they were easy to talk to and always answered our questions about the next days plan. They felt more like an incredibly knowledgeable friend than a guide, which eventually became true.

The cooks were absolutely incredible, the food they are able to whip up with nothing more than a gas burner is absolutely amazing. Each day brought more and more surprises, at one point including a pizza and a cake. Seriously. There was always plenty of food, even toward the end of the second trek when I always seemed to be hungry.

The horsemen were the locals that lead our team of donkeys through the trek as well as set up camp and assisted with cooking. Their hard work is incredible and really pushes Flashpackers level of comfort over the edge. They were there to help if anyone was struggling with the altitude or if you needed anything at all at camp.

The amazing effort that Flashpacker puts into ensuring you enjoy your trip is incredible. It really allows you to have a stress free hike and truly enjoy the amazing place you're in. I can't recommend Flashpacker enough, and have already directed friends and family to them when they ask how they should do a similar trip.

One of the most memorable trips I've been on. This 6 day trek is not for the faint of heart, but the views were breathtaking the entire way and more than worth it. Our guide, Ricardo was so knowledgable about the region, trail and knew the perfect places to stop for the best photos. I would HIGHLY recommend Ricardo on this trek because of his patience, experience and fantastic demeanor. Our chef, Cristobal cooked for us almost every meal and I can't count the amount of times we swore we had eaten the best meal ever. Our horsemen, Raul and Miguel also worked incredibly hard packing and setting everything up for us. We could always look forward to everything being ready to go by the time we got to camp thanks to their hard work all day. Finally, our driver, Julio was great! He was efficient and safe. The best part was every single one of these men were always smiling and laughing the whole time. It was a great group to be with and we felt like family at the end. Thank you again to everyone who helped make this trip so special!

What an amazing experience!!! My fiancé and I are avid backpackers/ campers who had never done a guided trek before. We were a bit apprehensive, but figured since it was our first time trekking in South America it was worth the extra guidance and security. Boy are we glad we booked with FlashPacker! This trek was above and beyond our expectations. The guides are phenomenal, and provide local insights and tips which really enhance the entire experience. They know the locals, can speak to the Incan significance of the mountains/glaciers, all while being fun and really getting to know you. We also had two OUTSTANDING cooks (who baked us a cake- with no oven- at 17,000 feet. There was even piped icing on it- unreal) along with two phenomenal horseman. When others in our group were feeling the elevation, they came and carried their packs for them. All we needed to bring with us were our day packs- everything else was completely taken care of. The food was DELICIOUS- I didn't know we could eat so well while camping! From guacamole (sooo good), local potatoes, omelettes, spaghetti, everything was divine. I cannot stress enough how fantastic the staff was for our trip, I'm so glad we met all of them. We now have new friends for life!

As far as the actual trek- if you're an experienced hiker, it's really not that bad. If you're not, it's still definitely doable, but I'd recommend trying to get into good shape before your trip. The altitude is significant and will be the hardest part. Absolutely get to Cuzco as early as you can, camping over 16k feet for multiple nights is no joke. BUT, the scenery is so worth it. Flashpacker provides amazing gear (-30 degree mountain hardware sleeping bags), so no need to worry about anything except walking. We also didn't encounter any other groups on the trip, which was amazing. Our guide, Mikail, was outstanding. He was great about snapping and sharing pics with us, and also ensured we got to see rainbow mountain TWICE- without any other people! For an attraction that gets over 2k visitors a day, that's pretty impressive.

We are so, so happy with our trek and our experience with Flashpacker. They took care of everything- we didn't have to think about anything at all. What an absolutely stunning place, I sincerely hope everyone has a chance to visit. Ausangate is a special, special place. I would absolutely recommend booking this trip, it's been one of the best trips of our lives.
