Incredible tour that stays with you
Sep 2021
What an experience! I loved how Vadim set up the tour, connecting the different dots into an incredibly engaging story. I joined the tour at the beginning of my trip to Prague and for the rest of my stay I was staring at buildings, picking out the different elements Vadim draw our attention to (and telling everyone who would listen). He also put everything into a broader historical and political context to help us understand the specific developments at that time. Vadim as a guide is brilliant, so knowledgeable, engaging and fun. I was a solo traveller but both Vadim and Bonita were really accommodating and let me join another small group.

LOVED IT!

What a fantastic tour! Vadim was super nice, funny, and made me feel at home in a city I'd never visited before. I discovered a very important architectural aspect of the city that I would not have discovered otherwise, and I got to learn about it in the most interesting way possible. This tour brought me closer to Prague, and I now see it through different eyes. Thank you very much, looking forward to my next visit!

Such a pleasant and rewarding walk!

The title of this guided tour is too reductive! From historicism to brutalism, our friendly guide, Vadim, fed us with lots of anecdotes, historical and literary references in a very digestive way! His enthusiasm and breadth of knowledge have turned this tour into a great experience. Feel "hungry" for an another walk with Insight Cities Prague.

Very highly recommended!
Vadim is an very passionate guide who took us on a fantastic tour around the city, showing us tons of hidden gems and great sights. His vast knowledge of the architectural history and art of this city was incredibly interesting. This was my second time in Prague, but thanks to Vadim I discovered a lot of great things that I missed the first time. Highly recommended!

Extremely interesting and very enjoyable

Awesome experience! Originally a 3 hour tour, we spent 4 hours with guide Vadim, discussing not only art nouveau and cubism, but also gothic, baroque, historicism, Art Deco, functionalism and brutalism and taking a closer look at their connection with historical evolutions.
What made the tour great, was Vadim’s inspiring passion for and erudition concerning architecture and history. Also, he’s just a very friendly guy and an excellent tour guide!
So if you want to expand your knowledge, this is the tour for you. Well worth the price!

The Next Best Thing to Being There
May 2021
The next best thing to actually being there--the tour was on Zoom, but the techology worked so well that it was almost like walking along with Bonita as she gave her very knowledgable guided tour. The focus on Art Nouveau and Cubist architecture worked as a great jumping off point for learning about Prague's history as well as its contemporary life. Although our guides know the city and history so well, they could have filled the time by themselves, they welcomed questions from us, which is something that makes a remote tour exceptional instead of, say, watching just a video about the city. Even if planning an in-person visit to Prague, I suggest doing a zoom tour first because it's a great introduction to the city and will help a traveler become acquainted with the area before going. I look forward to my own opportunity to visit Prague.

Thank you for the kind review. It is such a wonderful thing for us to be guiding again, both by live stream and in person. If we've tempted you to visit this fantastic old Bohemian capital, even better! We'd be so delighted to have help you explore it in more depth. Thanks again!

Terrific introduction to the city!
May 2021
This virtual tour of just a few of the beauties of Prague was a revelation. I knew that Prague had been spared during the bombing raids of WW II and have wanted to visit in person. Since that isn't happening anytime soon, a video walking tour with the extremely knowledgeable Bonita was the next best thing! I learned a great deal about the artistic and intellectual ferment that spurred the design movements featured on the tour, along with the 19th and early 20th century political milieu these movements were forced to navigate. Our tour guide was quite fearless about walking into lobbies and foyers of some of the buildings as well, giving us close ups of some of the amazing design elements incorporated into the structures. I considered it all a perfect prelude to an actual visit in the near future.

A deeper look at a beautiful city
May 2021
We loved this tour. Bonita was incredibly knowledgeable and we appreciated her ability to tie together the design and architectural elements we saw with contemporaneous events. We've been to Prague, so we know that she pointed out things (like an intricate bas-relief) that get skipped over by many tours. If you're like me, a quickie tour is fine for getting your bearings, but you'll then want to go deeper, and Insight is an excellent way to do that.

Like Being There
Dec 2020
This was such a great experience! Bonita, our excellent guide, gave us a Zoom walking tour in which she interwove history with architecture and sites which make Prague so unique and worth visiting. Originally from New York, Bonita talks non stop for an hour as she walks from the famous Old Town square through the nearby streets. Even if you've been there before, you will learn new information and see buildings and typography which will thrill you. At the end, you'll want to book tickets to see Prague for yourself, but in the meantime, I recommend seeing some of it through Bonita's eyes. Her husband is her camera man, and he did a great job weaving through the cobblestone streets and coming close up to windows so we could see inside. They do other tours also. Try Insight Cities yourself.

fusing architecture, culture and history with detail and enthusiasm
Jun 2020
My parents (in their eighties) and I loved this trip round Cubist and Art Nouveau Prague. I know Prague's Municipal House where we began, but had so much to learn about its historical significance, and that was just the start of an engaging architectural, cultural and historical odyssey (layered into just two hours and with very reasonable walking distances). To have a guide and mentor so steeped in the world of Prague, and able to fuse architecture, culture and history with such detail and infectious enthusiasm was wonderful and informative in the broadest sense. It has whetted my parents' appetite for more reading on Czech history, and, indeed on that of Central and Eastern Europe more generally.
