- jaffab190 contributionsA great “ taste of Prague”We had a fabulous evening, we loved all of the experiences and information. The personal information and insights in regards to Czech life really added to our experience. The food was delicious and plentiful. We loved it all. I think I’ll be dreaming of that gimlet for a while.Written 2 December 2023
- ShariW3450 contributionsHighly RecommendedThis was our 2nd time visiting Prague, and we enjoyed this tour so much the first time we visited that we did it again. No regrets! This tour takes you to restaurants and places you would never visit, and try foods and drinks you would never think to try. Aside from the food, there are conversations on a variety of topics, from Pragues history to parks to visit, as well as the other people you meet on the tour who you can have a laugh with. My partner and I highly recommend doing this tour on day 1 or day 2 of your visit so you can utilise the suggestions they provide.Written 18 November 2023
- Tim P0 contributionsQuality food tour experienceWe booked this food tour based on the excellent online reviews & it certainly met our expectations. Our guide, Carolina, was wonderful. She was friendly, funny & was so knowledgeable & enthusiastic about her touring. She made everyone feel welcome & had an incredible memory for the tour participants names. Her knowledge & explanation of Czech foods, history & culture was so entertaining & informative. Each of the food venues we visited provided beautiful & tasty food & drinks, with very generous quantities. No one left feeling hungry. If you want to enjoy a really high quality food experience whilst also touring Prague & enjoying delicious food & drinks, this is the tour to book. Highly recommended.Written 17 October 2023
- W4802XQaaronp0 contributionsA great introduction to PragueI would recommend making this one of your first stops in Prague. You’ll leave knowing the city a lot better, and with a list of future places to visit (not just for food). You won’t be leaving hungry from this tour, but it’s the quality of the food that stood out. I can’t say Czech food sounded as appealing to me as more well known food destinations, but this tour does it justice. A nice variety of offerings, and packed with flavour. What’s more, the company themselves are so accommodating. Karolina, our guide, could not have been more helpful and friendly. Even with a few last minute dietary preferences given, she was able to quickly make adjustments to ensure everyone got to enjoy the experience to its fullest. She really went above and beyond. An excellent guide for an excellent tour.Written 12 October 2023
- debbiekV9411EA0 contributionsGreat tour and amazing food! This was a great food tour highlighting some amazing restaurants and local dishes. Jan was such a fun guide and kept things interesting. He also provided some recs and tips on other spots in town, and was very helpful with questions we had after the tour ended. The group was small and it was nice meeting people from different areas. Would highly recommend this tour for anyone who’s visiting Prague!Written 11 November 2022
- Dov S0 contributionsEvery Foodie’s dream food tour. Do it!The highest praise for this food tour and the lovely energetic and very informative Karolina. The quality of each tastings are all top notch and varied. The locations are beautiful and have an exclusive feel and the drinks match perfectly! - jla650 contributionsTaste of Prague is a must!Make sure you go HUNGRY! Not only was our guide (Jan) incredibly engaging and informative but the places he brought us too and the food we ate were top notch quality. There is a large variety of foods and they will cater to allergies if you let them know before hand. There were 8 of us from our tour group who went and no one was disappointed. If you like food, cocktails and learning - this tour is a must!Written 16 July 2022

Went on the Dinner and cocktail tour which felt similar to the Foodie Tour but the group was younger and we traveled a little bit longer distances. Would recommend both tours.Written 24 April 2022

- SmallSmartTraveller0 contributionsWine tour in MoraviaWe decided to do this small wine tour in Moravia. 2 days, 1 night. We visited 4 different wineries, Villa Tugendhat and some nice places for coffee. The 4 wineries were different, for example we visited Sonberk (higher production, bigger facilities) and Petr Kočařík (smaller one, more familiar), so we could have completely contrasting experiences. As foreigners, we really appreciated to go into the small ones and meet directly the person behind those wines. It felt really local. Our guide was Jan. Very interactive, with a lot of knowledge about the region. We had some nice chats and he even gave us some tips about Prague. He provided us with some fresh water and some snacks both days. All was well organised and I liked that I felt as it was a small escape with "friends" than an actual tour with a guide. We learnt a lot, spending a wonderful time with amazing people that we just met.Written 31 August 2020
- EricP2780 contributionsGreat foodMartin was an excellent guide for this tour. Very knowledgable, well spoke , and passionate about food. The food was very good and in places that I likely would not have gone on a short stop in Prague. Definitely worth the time and money for this tour.Written 22 February 2020
- Itinza0 contributionsYou can learn a lot about a particular culture by exploring their food !We had a wonderful experience on our tour. All the restaurant choices were delicious and authentic. There will be a lot of food on your tour! Save space and dont eat anything before your tour. Definitely recommend this experience if you are in Prague.Written 11 February 2020
- Buck52080 contributionsFantastic TourThis was a tour that was referred to us, and it proved one of the highlights of our trip to Prague. Our tour guide, interestingly a ex lawyer, was delightful and able to deliver a great experience with information and food. We are sure no matter how long one could stay in Prague, we could never cover some of the experiences we had. It was a good idea to start the tour late in the afternoon, 4pm, and in that way it was a great way to have dinner with lots of different food and drink, more that we could finish and we had purposely not had a large lunch. Definitely a strong recommendation, worth the money as food and drink all included.Written 1 February 2020

- KenJonesCA0 contributionsAn Evening of Food and FunWe had a delightful evening with Marketa as our guide. She was friendly and welcoming, and she obviously enjoyed describing the history and culture of Prague as we strolled from one restaurant to another. The food was great at all of the stops along the way, and added up to a substantial meal. We also appreciated Prague Foodie Map, which was included as part of the tour, and enjoyed trying several more of their suggested restaurants while we were in Prague.Written 15 December 2019

If you're looking to dive into Czech cuisine while soaking up some local culture, the Prague Foodie Tour—Taste of Prague—delivers an exceptional experience that lives up to its high reputation. Guided by the knowledgeable and engaging Jan, this tour this was a culinary journey through the heart and edges of Prague, blending flavors with some history thrown in.
We kicked things off at Lokal Dlouhá, a well-known pub for authentic Czech dishes. From the moment we entered, it was clear this place was a favorite among locals. Jan made sure we sampled a variety of traditional dishes, each showcasing the hearty, comforting flavors Czech cuisine is known for. His explanations added depth, touching on the history of each dish and what makes them local favorites.
From Lokal, we headed over to Naše Maso, a butcher shop famous for its high-quality meats and quick-bite options. Here, we indulged in a memorable sandwich that was simple but delicious, capturing the straightforward yet flavorful approach that Czech culinary culture embraces. This stop was a true highlight, showing the simple, unpretentious side of Prague’s food scene.
Next, we visited a cozy wine bar where we were treated to a Riesling and a unique Pinot-Merlot blend. Both wines complemented each other beautifully and were a refreshing contrast to the heavier foods we’d had so far. As we savored our glasses, Jan shared insights into Czech winemaking, which isn’t as internationally recognized as its beer but is definitely worth exploring. Following this, we visited an upscale restaurant, where the cuisine took on a more refined presentation but retained the authentic flavors.
Summary and Final Thoughts: The tour was informal, which made it feel more like exploring with a friend than following a structured itinerary. Jan's passion for Czech culture and cuisine made the evening truly memorable, and the stops outside of Prague’s city center allowed us to experience a more intimate side of the city that we might have missed otherwise. I had high expectations for this tour, and it surpassed every one of them. It’s a must-do for any food lover visiting Prague, offering a balanced blend of culinary variety, cultural insights, and unique stops. If you’re ready to taste the real flavors of Prague, this tour is absolutely worth it.

A friend had recommended this tour and said it was their families favorite thing they did in Prague so when we were in town to visit our student studying nearby we booked the tour for an afternoon we had free. Our friend was right - this was the highlight of our visit and we've made a point to book food tours on each of our European trips since but none have compared. While the food was great, our guide Karolina was exceptional! We learned sooo much about Prague, Czechia and the history from her unique perspective as a life-long resident with a father who because of his occupation was allowed to travel the world which was unusual for the time. It was all quite fascinating and added so much to the tour and our first visit to this country and region of Europe. We stopped at several traditional Prague eateries and had beer, wine, lots of meat dishes and of course, dessert. Our guide facilitated our group getting to know each other and it turns out there were many connections amongst our group. We did a food tour later in the spring in Rome and it did not compare. I highly recommend this tour and Karolina as a guide. When you are done she sends you all of the tour stops in an itinerary and the company gives you a downloadable guide to Prague which is a huge value. They really want you to explore their city with the knowledge of a local.

What a fun time on this tour. Our guide, Peggy, was enthusiastic, energetic and non-stop telling us about food, beverages, culture, politics and history. Because it started to rain heavily at the start of our tour and most of us were not prepared, she borrowed umbrellas from one of our restaurant stops’ lost and found! We had a lengthy walk and tasted a wide variety of food all the way through dessert and after-dinner drinks. Highly recommend!

I had to cancel my trip due to widespread closures in my destination.
I was initially unhappy about my deposit experience and Jan emailed me to explain what had happened. I was fine with that answer and revised my review to 4 stars. I tried to stay away from anything that “blamed” them in my review (see below). However, Jan continued to email me to try to make a point. At this stage, I am wondering how many other reviewers were influenced by him after leaving a bad review. PLEASE leave me alone. I am already devastated that I had to cancel my vacation. I do not want to be dealing with emails about this anymore when it does not change the outcome.
—-
My original revised review is below:
I had concerns about traveling during the pandemic, but my husband wanted to go. We put off booking this tour until we were literally at the airport, but within an hour of booking, we found out that our destination was shut down. We immediately started canceling what we could while at the airport.
If you end up needing to do a refund, there are bank fees totaling around $16 USD. Those are non-refundable.
Since the pandemic is ongoing and unpredictable, for events that require a deposit, I recommend only booking once you are in the city and 100% sure you’ll attend. If you want to avoid losing out on your deposit once you’ve already booked, I recommend asking if you can move this deposit to a future date instead.

This is Jan mentioned in the review. First of all, I am really sad that Jaq had to cancel her trip and that we got entangled in that frustration. We love to travel ourselves and we are also sad to see the carelessness and ease of international travel go as a result of the pandemic.
However, I must also admit I am personally offended and a bit hurt by this review, which portrays me as a borderline stalker forcing people to change their reviews. I am not a stalker, and I have never forced or influenced anyone, including Jaq, to change their reviews. This allegation is false and stains the reputation I have been working hard to build in the past 10 years of Taste of Prague.
This is my side of the story, for anyone who cares to read it:
Jaq cancelled her tour just three days before its scheduled date due to a lockdown in Denmark where she was supposed to land, and asked for a refund. We gave it to her out of sympathy - she was not entitled to a full refund under our cancellation policy given how late the cancellation was. We advised her that the amount she’d receive might be slightly smaller than the deposit paid due to banking fees and conversion rates applied by banks in the process.
Two days later, we receive a 1-star review (our very first in ten years) and we get blamed for the banking fees. We are painted as people who take advantage of travellers in a global pandemic.
I decided to write an email to Jaq, explaining we have not gained anything from the transaction. She wrote me back and accepted my explanation, changing the review to a 4-star review, writing (as you can see above) that travellers should check whether they could apply the deposit for a later tour.
Having read her email and the changed review, I just responded to Jaq, thanking her for accepting the explanation, and adding that we did offer her a „store credit“ in our email communication but she chose the deposit instead. Neither of the two emails I sent to Jaq asked her to change or remove her review. And now we’ve received an updated review, with some serious allegations of conduct that can be actually deemed illegal under EU law.
To summarise my story: we receive a late cancellation with a demand for a refund that we are not obliged to give, give it anyway, the customer loses some money in banking fees, we get blamed for banking fees and then of stalking her and influencing reviews on TripAdvisor, just because we wanted to explain ourselves in two emails.
As I wrote above, I am really sad things didn’t work out with Jaq. But I needed to make the record clear here and make my story heard, too. Thank you for reading it thus far.

A brilliant and personal food tour around central Prague. Jan took us to 4 different restaurants and we finishes with a tasting and history of Czech wine. All the food was fabulous, from traditional Czech comfort food such as fried cheese and sausages, through a butchery/deli to a highly rated meat restaurant and then a traditional dessert / coffee shop. What made the tour particularly memorable was Jan's personal knowledge of the food and his ability to explain how the changes in Czech society, particularly before and after the end of communism, had affected the food scene. This was explained through personal reflections as he lived through the changes, rather than as a history lesson. Jan was funny, engaging and a real expert in his field - he is clearly well known across the food scene in Prague (and beyond). Cannot recommend this food tour highly enough - the thought and care that has gone into it is obvious and all of the supporting information is really useful - for example we used his coffee bar guide to visit areas of Prague that we would have considered otherwise.

We took the Taste of Prague food tour on November 30th. Our guide Karolina Staidlova was outstanding. We started at Lokal which is pub that serves traditional Czech food. We had fried cheese with tartar sauce, marinated Hermelin cheese, potato salad (served in a lot of Czech restaurants) and ham with horseradish. Next stop was Kantyna which is a wonderful restaurant where we tried pork schnitzel (which was amazing) and steak tartare (also served in a lot of Czech restaurants. Next stop was Kro Kitchen where we had roasted chicken with soy and butter sauce, potato pancakes (the thinnest potato pancake I have ever seen), beef with mushroom sauce, spaetzle and cabbage salad. Final stop was Mysak which is amazing pastry shop where we were served three different deserts along with coffee. At each of the first three stops you are given the option of wine or beer along with non-alcoholic beverages. The tour is four hours long with a combination of walking and public transportation. I would highly recommend taking this tour - where you will learn the history of the city and sample their food.

The Prague Food Tour was an excellent way to spend our evening in Prague. I went with my wife and three kids and everyone enjoyed the tour. Although the tour has a lot of beer and other alcoholic beverages, my kids who are 14 and 13 enjoyed it just as much. The food is amazing and the history is very interesting. Our tour guide Martin was great, always entertaining us with stories about the restaurants and Czech cuisine. I would most definitely recommend this food tour for anyone who enjoys food and wants to learn about the culture and history of this city.

We took part in the food and wine tour. We spent four hours discovering typical Prague food and drinks, from sweet to savory, moving from one corner of the city to another on foot and by public transport. All expertly conducted by a very nice super guide who managed to involve all participants in the experience. I recommend it to everyone, as long as you know English!

Karolina was a fabulous guide who truly loves her city, it’s international cuisine, and sharing both with her visitors. We had a fantastic time tasting a great variety of delicious foods and drinks across the city and were quite ‘stuffed’ by the end of our tour. We were impressed with the personalized service and attention to detail. Pictured here are two of our favorite dishes. We strongly recommend this tour if you are a foodie planning to visit Prague in the future!!

This tour was the highlight of my trip to Prague. The tour guide was phenomenal, and went above and beyond during the tour. We tried all kinds of foods, learned a lot of history, and had some good drinks as well.
A little tidbit, during the tour the guide warned us of scams you might encounter in Prague (much like you might encounter in any city). One involved someone standing at an area with at least 2 ATMs, looking confused, and trying to have you break one their large bills for smaller bills. The catch is, their currency isn't actual Czech money, and by the time you figure out the scam they'd be gone. After the tour the guide took us back to the meeting point, and someone went to pull out cash from an ATM. Lo and behold, someone tried to pull this exam scam on him.

I am Muslim, so the food contain a pork or a wine ? or I can get some kind of food that doesn’t have this
Written 5 December 2023
You can tell them if you have dietary restrictions, but pork and wine are main staples of Czech foods / traditional fare. There were options like beef and chicken on our tour as well and non-alcoholic drinks available on request.

There are several food tours listed on TripAdvisor and they all have good reviews. How is yours different or better than other food tours? Thank you.

That’s an excellent question that I can’t answer given that I was only on this one tour in Prague and my experience is limited to that. This might be a better question for someone who has been on multiple or different food tours in Prague. Unfortunately we didn’t have the time to do that.

Yes, they are very accommodating and will personalize the tour for food allergies. My husband has a severe allergy to sesame and they removed a stop and added a new one in it's place!
